# The Mayor of Awka North LGA, Hon ThankGod Anago, and the President-General of Achalla Improvement Union, Comrade Michael Ikwunne have jointly declared support for the second term governorship election of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

This joint declaration for Soludo gubernatorial victory took place inside the premises of Awka North Council Secretariate, Achalla.

The Mayor and the PG including other stakeholders agreed that Awka North has been blessed by Soludo Govt.

 

# The Anambra Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) says it has rejected the circular issued by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) for medical and dental officers in Nigeria on June 25.

This was contained in the resolution reached at the end the Emergency General Meeting of the Anambra NMA on Tuesday.

The resolution signed by Dr. Princeston Okam and Dr. Ifeanyi Obiaeli, Chairman and Secretary respectively expressed 100 per cent solidarity with the national leadership of the body which issued a 21-day ultimatum on Monday.

The chapter said the emergency meeting was to update members on the ongoing 21-day ultimatum issued by the NOC of the NMA in reaction to the circular issued by NSIWC regarding the review of allowances for Medical and Dental Officers

 

# Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved and awarded the following projects:

” Construction & Dualisation of Ekwulobia to Nnobi Road (32.6 km); awarded to Geld Construction Ltd in the sum of ₦28,854,778,204.92.

“Supply & Installation of Mechanical Appurtenances at College of Nursing Sciences; awarded to Crystal Dove Construction Company Ltd in the sum of N110,653,459.38.

“Construction of Metallic View-Point Barricade at the Light House, Awka; awarded to Muterbonch & Company Nig Ltd in the sum of N488,431,355.92.

“Payment for Geophysical Survey/Mapping Charges: Release of N95,824,355.00 to Calyzid Ventures for 2,018.319 hectares of land.

” Construction of Outstanding Road Segments in Okpoko Area; awarded to IDC Construction Ltd in the sum of N2,028,140,956.25.

“Procurement, Installation, and Deployment of Digital Multi-Band Jammers; awarded to Intertrek Solutions and Services in the sum of N96,860,800.00.

 

# A group of streetlight contractors in Anambra State have staged a peaceful protest over the alleged refusal of the state government to pay outstanding debts amounting to about N900 million for diesel supplied for the powering of streetlights across the state.

The contractors, who converged on the Government House in Awka, accused the government of making selective payments, alleging that while a few contractors had been settled, many others were being unfairly sidelined without any explanation.

Carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Selective payment is injustice,” the protesters said they had exhausted all official channels to seek redress without any meaningful response from the authorities.

Speaking during the protest, their leader, Hon. Nnaemeka Oraka, claimed that some of their colleagues had died out of frustration since 2022.

Responding, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, commended the contractors for being peaceful in the protest, assuring them that the government was not insensitive to their plight.

 

# The Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, has approved the naming of its newly completed female hostel after former two-time Minister of Finance in Nigeria,
Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The newly completed female hostel is part of UNIZIK’s ongoing infrastructural development agenda aimed at improving campus life and providing a conducive environment for academic pursuit, particularly for female students.

In a statement released by the university’s Public Relations Unit, the decision was described as a tribute to Okonjo-Iweala’s sterling qualities as a world-class economist and advocate for gender equity, in honour of her extraordinary achievements and service to humanity.

It also aims to serve as a lasting source of inspiration to the university’s female students.

 

# The 14th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) Meeting, which took place at the Light House, Awka, has made several important decisions; among them are:

“The Council also awarded a fourth dual carriageway, namely, the Ekwulobia to Nnobi Dualisation Road Project, to complete the linking of the four major Anambra cities by dual carriageways, thus completing the Anambra beltway to permit easy flow of traffic around the state.

ANSEC also reviewed and approved the progress report for the 2024 Business Enabling Reforms Action Plan (BERAP). As part of the State Action on Business Enabling Reform (SABER) Programme, the state commits each year to implementing reforms aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business.

The progress of these reforms is continuously monitored to ensure sustainability and assess their impact on businesses in Anambra State. The initiatives have resulted in improvements in land administration, infrastructure investment, business processes, investment promotion and protection, tax administration, and access to justice through small claims courts, among other areas.

 

# The Chairman of Ihiala LGA, Engr. Anayochukwu Charles Ojiakor has stated without equivocations that Governor Chukwuma Soludo spends more money on security in Ihiala local government than any other local government in the state.

Ojiakor while speaking in response to allegations raised by the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the November 8th governorship election and a chieftain of the party where one allegedly claimed that Soludo wants to use Ihiala local government to rig the incoming governorship election over insecurity and the other alleged that there are not enough security posts in the council area to curb criminal insurgents, said such allegations were lies from the pit of hell as well as figments of the peddlers’ imaginations because he believes that the governor is working assiduously to enthrone a tranquil atmosphere in Ihiala Local Government Area devoid of incursions from hoodlums.

Ojiakor said he doesn’t know the AA Deputy Governorship candidate who claimed that he hails from Isseke community in Ihiala.

 

# Eziowelle community in Idemili-North LGA has taken a stand that they will do everything humanly possible to ensure that the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Gov. Chukwuma Soludo wins in Eziowelle ward come November 8th this year.

This was the crux of the matter at a strategic meeting held in the country home of the former ASATU national president and current State Marshal-General of the Solution Marshals Chief Barr. Titus Nnabuike Akpudo, where stakeholders of Eziowelle community converged and declared that Governor Soludo has done exceedingly well and deserves a second chance to consolidate on his transformative governance in the state.

Akpudo who hosted the meeting, said it is evidently clear from the present infrastructural transformations across the state that Governor Soludo deserves to be returned for another term of office because he has surpassed the achievements of his predecessors as well as surpassed expectations of the citizenry.

He therefore emphasized that the meeting was called for them to interface and cross-pollinate ideas in ensuring that the governor win meritoriously in Eziowelle ward.

 

# The Anambra State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikioye Orutugu, continues to record major operational breakthroughs in its relentless efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.

In a series of coordinated operations across different parts of the state, police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, arrested one Gospel Ozioma Nneto, male, aged 31, aka “OZ,” a notorious leader of a proscribed armed separatist group.

In another operation, the Divisional Police Officers of Nimo and Nteje, in collaboration with local vigilante operatives, successfully rescued three kidnapped victims held by suspected armed hoodlums. Items recovered from the operations include: One (1) pump-action gun and one (1) dagger.

SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command in a press statement maintained that the arrested suspect is a known terrorist, kidnapper, and armed robber, and a confirmed member of the proscribed separatist group.

During interrogation, he confessed to being a photographer for the group, operating from a camp known as “Mother Valley,” located in the Orsumohu-Orsu axis. He is currently undergoing further interrogation as discreet investigations continue to uncover his criminal network.
