* The branch chairmen of the Nigeria Bar Association, Anambra State, led by Sir David Ifeanyi, have applauded the state government for revamping the justice delivery sector. The lawyers stated this during a courtesy visit to the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Sylvia Chika Ifemeje in her office

* Anambra State Civil Servants are commending the State Head of Service Barrister Theodora Igwegbe for attracting approval of Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the ongoing 2021/22 promotions exercise in the Ministries, Parastatals and Agencies. Igwegbe, had during her tour of all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies assured workers that she would work assiduously at ensuring that the Governor approved the workers promotion exercise so as to encourage career progression.

* Anambra State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has constituted a disciplinary committee to check and curtail anti party activities among members ahead 2025 governorship election in the state. State Chairman of the party, Chief Basil Ejidike, who inaugurated the committee during the party’s stakeholders/leaders meeting in Awka, said the committee will carry out investigation of members on allegations of anti party.

* An All Progressives Grand Alliance Chieftain and community leader, Chief Chris Okonkwo has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for providing drinkable water in his community and other parts of Anambra West Local Government Area after almost three decades of unavailability of clean water supply in the area. Okonkwo who expressed delight over the recently commissioned water borehole in Umuoba Aboegbu Anam, in Anambra West said that the borehole will help his people immensely as the villagers will henceforth start drinking clean and potable water.

* Police Operatives from Rapid Reaponse Squad, Awkuzu acting on credible information stormed the compound of one Onyeka Aduba alias Totoritor at Umuohi Village, Okija in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state and rescued three abducted citizens chained to building pillars by insurgents. Two suspects, namely, Okika Chukwujekwu ‘M’ aged 31 years and Slyvester Okorie Ikwuanusi ‘M’ aged 55 years were arrested for interrogation

* The Onitsha Traditional Council, also known as Ime Obi has called on the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCS) to vacate its facility in the city, accusing them of appropriating community land.
The call was contained in a press release signed on behalf of the Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, by his Chief of Staff, Chief Osita Anionwu.

* Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Hon. Ify Obinabo has interfaced with the Traditional Rulers Wives executives.
Interacting with the executives in her office in Awka, Obinabo charged the women to support the state government by always monitoring what happens in their different communities.

* More stakeholders have continued to call on the federal government to take prompt and proactive measures in tackling erosion challenges in Anambra State as well as the Southeast region of the country. Speaking in Awka, the Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene said this would complement what the state governments are doing to tackle the devastation.

* Anambra State Government has announced the immediate closure of Blessed Wisdom Model School at Ide Drive, Federal Housing Estate, Onitsha, over the flogging of a two-year-old pupil. Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the state Commissioner for Education, made the announcement following a report that a two-year-old pupil, Ifechukwu Egbuninwe, sustained grievous bodily harm, following the flogging incident.

* The excellence and outstanding performance of Anambra students, schools and Education Ministry have continued to attract more laurels to the State. The latest of the laurels, were those from the President’s Schools Debate Nigeria, where no fewer than three awards came into Anambra State.

The awards include the Best Performing Commissioner for Education in the South-eastern Nigeria, presented to the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh; the Best Performing Desk Officer Fully Committed to the Development of School Debate Program in Nigeria, presented to the Principal of Capital City Secondary School, Awka, Mrs Amaka Anekwe; and the Second Prize won by the Solution Debate Team (from Anambra State) at the President’s Schools Debate Championship.

* Police Operatives attached to Area Command Headquarters, Ihiala, working with operatives of Anambra State Vigilante in Okija, at the weekend
recovered One HOWO trailer with Reg. No. Delta AKU 247 XB conveying 1000 bags of Bua cement. The armed criminals on sighting the joint patrol comprising of the Police and Vigilantes along the Onitsha-Owerri expressway pulled off the road at Okija, abandoned the truck, and fled.
