* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called on Nigerians to live selfless lives as exemplified by the late Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther, the first Bishop on the Niger. The Governor was speaking at the 160th anniversary celebration of the consecration of Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther as well as the celebration of the existence of the Diocese on the Niger at All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha. While describing the event as historic, Governor Soludo noted that inspite of the racism and discrimination he faced, Bishop Crowther persevered and laid the foundations for most of the institutions that has aided the service of humanity, not minding that he was from another tribe.

* Anambra State Government, through the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, has arrested a man, Mr. Uche Mbonu and his wife over the malnourishment and maltreatment of the children belonging to his first wife whom he has divorced. The incident happened in Osumenyi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State, where the state government also rescued the five malnourished children. Testifying before the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo; a source from the community revealed that Mr. Mbonu divorced his first wife some years ago and married the second one, who used to be his salesgirl before.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area,Prince Shedrack Azubuike has lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s developmental strides in all sectors of the State economy, describing his government as people-oriented. In his Congratulatory Message to Governor Soludo on his election as the Vice-Chairman of Southern Governors’Forum,Prince Azubuike noted that Governor Soludo has contributed immensely towards providing a better life for Ndi Anambra through purposeful economic resurgence. The Orumba South Council Boss who recounted Governor Soludo’s good governance in Orumba South to include construction of the Ezira-Umuomaku-Enugwu Umuonyia road,Ajalli-Akpu-Nawfija-Ufuma-Ogbunka road,Eziagu-Umunze road, ongoing building of a world-class Pharmaceutical industry at Ogboji, provision of employment opportunities for Ndi Orumba South among others, assured Governor Soludo that he will continue to showcase his good works in Orumba South and also mobilize support for his administration.

* Anambra Caucus of the House of Representatives led by the members representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Hon Victor Afam Ogene visits Prof. Chukwuma Soludo at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia. Hon. Afam Ogene in his speech, appreciated Soludo on his developmental strides in Anambra in various sectors of the state economy including roads infrastructure, health, education, among others. They specifically applauded the Governor for his resolve and attendant action to build a new Anambra government House and lodge, which has been abandoned for thirty three years. The delegation expressed their readiness to jointly pursue projects at the centre that will benefit ndi Anambra, applaud the Governor on the massive regeneration going on in Anambra House in Abuja.

* The Chairman Publicity Committee Local Government Service Week Program, Comrade Nnamdi Nweke has debunked reports that Barr. Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka, Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), diverted part of the money donated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo for workers. Speaking to newsmen in an interview after the thanksgiving mass on Sunday held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Awka, Comrade Nweke who is also the head of department education and social development, Anambra West local government said the report is false and malicious.

* Eziowelle Improvement Union (EIU) has elect Dr. Julian Obiora as the President Genera (PG) of the Community located in Idemili North Local Government Area. Dr. Obiora and his team will pilot the affairs of EIU for a tenure of four years.

Other members of the executive committee elected alongside Dr Obiora, were: Tochukwu Ide as secretary, Emeka Anyaegbu as financial secretary and other positions. The election which also produced the new executive of the union was conducted using open ballot system with delegates attending from the branches of the union at home and in the diaspora.

* Senior Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Events and Protocol Hon. Shedrack Nnanna has lunched his 8-track album entitled ‘This Naija’ in Awka. Governor Chukwuma Soludo in his speech at the event, described SheddyJoe as a man of many talents who is passionate about the growth and development of his constituents. Soludo who was represented by the Chief of Staff Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi while unveiling the album restated his commitment and support towards the entertainment industry.

* Anambra State Ministry of Youth Development has concluded the screening exercise and revalidation of the master trainers ahead of the phase two of ths “1 Youth, 2 Skills” programme. The exercise which lasted for four days at the ASATU Hall, Government House, Awka, saw the screening and revalidation of over 600 master trainers from across the 21 local government areas of the state.
Addressing the master trainers, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba stated that the aim of the exercise was to ensure that the centers where the youths would be trained are of the needed standard.
Mr. Agha Mba praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo, whom he described as youth-friendly, for approving the second batch of the 1Youth2Skills Solution Initiative.

* Mr. Ike Okoye, a retired teacher who hails from Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Are of Anambra State is currently under lock and key for allegedly indulging in sodomy, as he reportedly defiled some young boys who also hail from Isuofia. The suspect, who was apprehended by the State Government through the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare in collaboration with operatives of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, was said to have had carnal knowledge of the young boys repeated times. Confirming the arrest in a statement made available to newsmen over the week, Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the Media Aide to the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, said the suspect was grilled shortly after the Ministry received the report and swung into action.

* The member representing Njikoka Constituency Two in Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Jude Akpua, has reassured his commitment to continue serving his constituents equitably and efficiently by initiating and completing developmental projects and delivering the benefits of democracy. Dr. Akpua, who is also the Deputy Majority Leader of the Assembly, gave the reassurance following the commissioning of a borehole project he facilitated for his constituents at Amagu Village, Ward Four, Abagana in Njikoka Council Area. The project was commissioned by the State Chairman of the All Progressives’ Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Ifeatu Obi-Okoye.
