* In a bid to promote excellence and healthy competition among Faculty of Education students, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, has announced a cash reward of N100,000 annually to the overall best graduating student of the Education Faculty. The award which is christened, “Joseph Ikechebelu Prize (JIP)”, would be domiciled in the Faculty of Education, and it is expected to kick off for the 2022/2023 Academic Session.
* The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye has paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Road Safety Corps RS5.3 Anambra State Sector Command. Adeoye during the discussion with the Sector Commander sought greater Cooperation and collaboration, especially on matters of traffic management, prosecution of traffic offenders, joint operations etc.
* The Member Representing Awka South 1 Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Nigeria Henry C. * The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye has received the leadership of the Anambra State House of Assembly led by the Speaker Rt. The Speaker welcome the new Commissioner of Police and express the readiness of the state lawmakers to support the police and other security agencies, especially in making relevant laws that will help in facilitating the administration of criminal justice in the State.
* The Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Tony Nwoye has joined millions of Nigerians to felicitate with the national leader and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on his 62nd birthday. The medical practitioner-turned legislator said that Peter Obi’s trajectory, at every juncture, is dotted with ingenuity and resourcefulness. He noted that the sexagenarian still remains an exceptional Nigerian politician who served as a state governor and left office with neither taint, tarnish nor blemish.
* An Environmental Scientist, Professor Leonard Muoghalu, has blamed the erosion menace ravaging parts of Anambra State on lack of consideration for the environment during construction and urban planning. Muoghalu, stated this in Awka, while commenting on causes of erosion menace and best ways to tackle them. He said the falling of trees without replacement, nature of Anambra Soil, blocking of drainage channels with solid waste by people are also responsible.
* The management, staff and students of Egbengwu Primary School Nimo on Wednesday July 19th held its 2023 inter house sports competition and graduation ceremony for nursary three and basic six pupils. ANN reports that the graduation ceremony commenced with mass celebrated by Egbengwu Primary School Manager, Rev. Fr. Callistus Nworgu. Chairman of the ceremony Dr. Ifeanyi Obiefuna in his speech said the purpose of the occation is to encourage young ones to indulge in education .
* The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt Rev Samuel Ezeofor has expressed as a burden that majority of Christians are not adhering to the teachings of Christ. Ezeofor maintained that Ministers of God and Christians should always live a Christ like life in order to win more souls for God. He cautioned Christians against amalgamating their faith with idolatry, and reminded parents of the need to lead their children aright by bringing them closer to their creator and urged Community leaders to take full control of the areas given to them to oversee by God by abolishing idolatry in addition to ending all forms of practices that negate the development of their various areas.
* Anambra State Government has finally won a nine years legal tussle over the ownership of the land at the popular Nkwo Triangle Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state. According a statement on the Facebook book page of the state’s Ministry of Justice, the Chief Judge of Anambra state, delivered the judgement that brought to an end the nine years land tussle on June 22, 2023 in favour of the Anambra state Governor.
* A community leader from Isiachina Chief Joseph Nwakpadolu has applauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for making good his campaign promise of making Anambra state the Dubai of Africa. In a press statement in Awka, Nwakpadolu paid glowing tribute to the governor for his aggressive roads rehabilitation strategy in almost all part of the fuel.
