* It was a tragic incident as an Onitsha trader, his wife, two children, mother-in-law, and newly arrived apprentice have been reportedly killed by fumes suspected to emanate from their generating set the first night they slept in their new mansion. According to their sympathisers who wailed uncontrollably at Borromeo Hospital, Onitsha, where the bodies were taken to, said the man, Mr Ifeanyi, from Enugu state, a trader at the Onitsha Bridge Head Market, before the incident had planned a surprise package for his wife after her discharge from the hospital having been delivered of a new baby.

* Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma, the student of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, Anambra State, who controversially claimed to be the highest scorer of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has finally apologized to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) over the alleged forgery of her UTME result. Mmesoma tendered her apology when she appeared before an ad hoc committee of the House of Representatives investigating the alleged forgery of results on Wednesday.

* Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to set up a high powered committee to assess the present condition of Oseakwa seaport. The 8th assembly at plenary on Thursday July 20th resolved that Soludo should foster partnership between the federal, state government and the organised private sector on the possible means of resuscitating the abandoned Oseakwa seaport and the dredging of the Ulasi river at Ihiala local government area in line with the resolution of the house of representatives of the national assembly on the same subject matter.

* A young lady by the name of Miss Chinyere Awuda from Nnobi, in Idemmili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been reportedly found dead and corpse-dumbed at the abandoned swimming pool of Cosmila Hotel Awka. According to sources, the young lady was at Club Mila, a nightclub reportedly owned by Cosmila Hotels in Awka, Anambra State, where one Mr. Gabriel Chinemere and friends believed to be clubbers as well, started beating the young Miss. Chinyere Awuda for reasons yet unknown. Despite efforts made by other people in the club that Saturday night to rescue the girl from the hands of Mr. Gabriel and his friends, they continued to beat and molest Miss. Chinyere Awuda in the presence of the club manager, one Steven Junior, who allegedly asked the club security guards and bouncers to stand down and instead turn off the lights while the girl was being beaten and dragged outside the club, where her lifeless body would later be dumped into the abandoned swimming pool belonging to the Cosmila Hotel.

* Six suspected illegal revenue collectors who were arrested by the Anambra Internal Revenue Service, AIRS have been remanded in prison by a Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Ugbenu, Awka North Local Government Area. Their charges border on alleged diversion of taxes, levies and other revenue against the will of the state government. When the charges were read to the defendants, they pleaded and were then remanded at Awka Correctional Centre.

* Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner for works to facilitate the construction of pedesyrian bridge at Regina Caeli Junction Awka, Old Tracas Upper Iweka Onitsha; Okpoko by travellers junction and Obodo Ukwu-Eze Iweka road Ogbaru. Chief sponsor of the motion Rt. Hon. Nobel Chukwunonso Igwe said this junctions play host to one of the most busiest bus-stops traversing the major highways in Awka and Onitsha Metropolis.

* A 57-year-old man, caught defiling a 10-year-old girl in Anambra State, has confessed to enjoy little girls than grown-up women. The suspect, identified as Chidi Obieze who was arrested made the confession when being interrogated in a video of which is currently trending on the social media.

According to the video, Obiaeze who lives in Egbem Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, was caught and tied by community youths in Oraifite, which is a neighbouring community to Ozubulu. It was gathered that he has long been in the habit of defiling little girls.

* In line with Governor Charles Soludo’s vision of liveable and prosperous homeland, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has hosted joint security meeting with seven other Transition Committee Chairmen to curb crimes in the areas. AVM Ben Chiobi who is the Special Adviser to Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo while speaking stated that the seven Transition Committee Chairmen have decided to work together to make sure that their areas are well secured, noting that security of lives and property is the first priority of any government.
