* A community leader from Isiachina, Chief Joseph Nwakpadolu, has applauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for making good his campaign promise of making Anambra State the Dubai of Africa. In a press statement in Awka, Chief Nwakpadolu, paid glowing tribute to the governor for his aggressive roads’ rehabilitation strategy in almost all parts of the state.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has visited the training centre of skills acquisition program at council area. Obi during the visit elated at the standard obtainable in the training centre, encouraged the trainees to take advantage of the opportunity and make good use of the acquired knowledge not just to be employable but also to be employers of labour. She charged trainees to continue to advance their knowledge base and practice as startups to earn decent living as entrepreneurs, stating that empowering the youths is one of the agenda of Governor Charles Soludo.

* A self-acclaimed plumber, Mr. Odilinye Obiora Samuel has cunningly defrauded a landlord and some tenants in Awka, the Anambra State capital, as he escaped with their building materials and significant amount of money.
The Awka-based plumber, who is native of Awkuzu in Oyi Local Government Area of the State, was contracted to inspect and make some plumbing-related repairs at the Paradise Hostel, Awka. After inspecting the premises and various rooms, he provided the landlord with an estimate for the required repairs and specified materials to be purchased.

* The Children, Sexual and Gender-based Violence Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State has ruled that it has no jurisdiction to hear the case of twenty-eight-year-old Chinonso Agbasi, who is accused of conspiring with others now at large to traffick a fifteen-year-old girl child (name withheld) from Isiagu, Awka South LGA of Anambra State to Alafia Street in Coker Area of Lagos State for child labour and sexual exploitations. In a seven-count charge brought before the court, the defendant was also accused of procuring abortion on the girl child in Lagos State after realizing that she was six weeks pregnant, as well as inflicting physical injuries on the victim.

* Eleven members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) were brought before an Amawbia Chief Magistrates’ Court in Awka, Anambra state for the alleged conspiracy, impersonation and forgery. They are facing a six-count charge of conspiracy, altering of documents, forgery, impersonation, malicious damage of NULGE property, and placing the Union’s president in fear of physical injury and anxiety.

* The Anambra State Local Government Service Commission has restated its commitment towards human capital development and promoting higher productivity in Local Government System in line with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration. The Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Vin Ezeaka who stated this during a capacity building programme and inauguration of Service Contract with Anambra State – SERCAP, in Awka said the unit will drive Information and Communication Technology in the system and improve accountability, productivity and eliminate the challenges of truancy and ghost worker syndrome.

* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Mr. Ossy Onuko has re-echoed warning against street trading in all parts of the capital territory. Onuko gave the warning when he led his team to an inspection visit to Eke Awka, Awka South Local Government Area.

* Police Personnel in Obosi, Idemili North LGA, Anambra state while on patrol on Thursday 20th July intercepted a three man criminal gang riding in a tricycle around Littlewood Estate. The gang which engaged Police Operatives in a firefight bowed to superior firepower of the Operatives who arrested two of them with gunshot wounds.

* The Traditional Ruler of Umuawulu in Awka South Council Area, Anambra state, Igwe Joel Egwuọnwụ has reminded Ndi Anambra living in the diaspora of the need to channel resources towards the development of their homeland. Igwe Egwuọnwụ made the call in his palace while exchanging views with the press. The call is in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s concerted efforts towards enthroning the desired liveable and prosperous Anambra.

* Government offices in Anambra were spending N137 million each month to clean public offices until recently, when the current government took immediate steps to drastically reduce the cost of cleaning. Governor Chukwuma Soludo revealed the huge amount of money that went into the cleaning. The Anambra governor disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the NEC meeting.
