* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has asked ndi Anambra to hold him accountable if he misuses their money. The governor who was speaking at a townhall meeting of Ndi Anambra in Abuja assured that his administration would account for every penny it receives. He said project Anambra is the only ball as he would work with everyone irrespective of status, class or political affliation.

* A professor of Finance, Banking and Economic Development Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka campus Professor Steve Ibenta says every organization needs financial experts to enhance their productive capacity. Ibenta made the assertion at the maiden Alumni converge ceremony of the department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Management Sciences of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka campus.

* Anambra State government has successfully trained 5,000 youths in vocational and entrepreneurial skills as part of its “One Youth, Two Skills” Scheme pilot phase. The “One Youth, Two Skills” scheme, which is being implemented in CBN-certified EDIs in partnership with UNIZIK Business School Awka, IDK, ITF, Federal Polytechnic Oko, and other agencies, is designed to help young people acquire the skills they need to start their own businesses or find employment.

* The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt Rev Samuel Ezeofor has expressed worry that majority of Christians are not adhering to the teachings of Christ. In a sermon at Saint Augustine’s Parish Ajalli, in Orumba North Local Government Area during a service of confirmation and admission into Girls Guild, Women’s Guild and Christian Men’s fellowship for all the parishes under Ajalli Archdeaconry, Bishop Ezeofor who described as dangerous, working for God without knowing Jesus Christ, charged the faithful to be up right and just in their service to God.

* The Chairman Board of Trustees of Tansian University Umunya Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State His Eminence, Cardinal Peter Ebere Okpalaeke says only Tansian University provides quality education amongst private universities in Nigeria. Okpalaeke who stated this at the inauguration of the 6th Governing Council of the university at St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral Ekwulobia in Aguata council area, explained that Tansian University is first amongst equals judging from the calibre of the teaching and non-teaching staff coupled with quality academic programmes that are in very high demand in the society.

* Migrant Farmers Primary School Neni, in Anaocha Local Government Area has taken delivery of new set of desks to improve learning in the school, courtesy of the Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Mr Gerald Ozoh. The TC Chairman had earlier this month visited the school where he discovered that the pupils are in need of desks and promised to provide them.

* Nigerian Medical Association is seeking the expertise of relevant stakeholders to find solutions to mass emigration, the worrisome trend affecting the health sector and ways to advance the system and improve health care delivery. Speaking at the annual general meeting/scientific confrence held in Awka, Anambra state, on the theme, “Mass emigration of doctors and other health workers: the origin, challenges and solution”, the President of NMA, Dr. Rowland Ojinmah, identified poor renumeration, high taxation, difficulty in gaining employment, insecurity, stressful medical education and poor funding of health sector among other challenges as reasons for brain drain in the medical field.

* Youths of Anambra State extraction have been urged to key into the one youth Two skills Programme of the Soludo administration to become employers of labour. The Chairman of Anaocha local Government Area Transition Committee, Chief Gerald Ozoh who made the call in an ABS Radio programme in Awka described the One Youth Two Skills Initiative as part of efforts by the Soludo administration to empower the youths.

* Police Officers in Anambra State Command have smashed a notorious Kidnap gang operating in Anam axis of Anambra West LGA. On Tuesday 18th July 2023, Police detectives were alerted to one Chukwuebuka Esulo from Ebonyi State who was seeking a buyer in Agulu, Anaocha LGA, for a black Mercedes Benz GLK SUV reg. No. BLF 746 EA whose owner had earlier been reported kidnapped in Aguleri on 26th June, 2023, and the sum of N4.5m extorted as ransom from the family before he was released.

* The Anambra State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ikechukwu Ifeanya has reacted to the recent N617 increase in fuel pump price across Nigeria, noting that the removal of the fuel subsidy regime by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a step in the right direction. Reacting to the development, Ifeanya, in an interview with our reporter in his office, in Awka, said that Tinubu has taken the best and wisest decision for the collective good of Nigeria and its people.
