* The Anambra State House of Assembly has urged the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to award the immediate reconstruction of Nkwo Nnewi Bank Road, Okpunoeze Junction to Motor Parts Road and Building Materials to Agbo-Edo Awammili Roads, in Nnewi North Local Government area. Member representing Nnewi North constituency
Hon. Onyckachukwu Ike who was the chief sponsor of the motion stated that Governor Soludo promised to fix this road during his campaign tour in the commercial city of Nnewi in 2021.
* An indigene of Aguleri community in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, Dr Innocent Chidumebi Okonkwo, has confirmed the arrest of nine kidnappers in the area. He said the kidnapping and robbery gang which usually operate at Aguleri junction are now singing like canaries at Otuocha police station.
* Family of Miss Chinyere Awuda, the lady clubber who was allegedly beaten to death in a club house in Awka, Anambra State, has petitioned CP Aderemi Adeoye to thoroughly investigate the death. Family of the deceased, led by her father, Mr. Patrick Awuda, who was represented by Rigota Chambers, alleged that there was plan to cover up the death of his daughter by the celebrant, the hotel and some police officers.
* Anambra state House of Assembly facilitates with Governor Chukwuma Soludo as his marks his 63rd birthday. Hon. Tony Muobike member representing Aguata two constituency while moving the congratulatery message at plenary on Thursday, said the election of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the Governor of Anambra state has restored hope because of his track record and proven intergrity.
* Women Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative a Non Governmental Organization have intervane in three local government areas of Anambra State. The three local government areas are Anambra West, Ogbaru and Awka North local government areas which are adjudged to be the worst hit during the flood incident that affected several state across Nigeria.
* Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council has frowned at the ill-treatment to its members by Prof. Chukwuma Soludo-led administration leading to shutting down of National Light Newspapers without making public its reasons. It said the move portrayed the government as wicked and without human face. urging members across Nigeria and the world to stand up against injustice.
* Umueri stakeholders in Anambra-East Local Government Area of Anambra State have extolled the community development strides of the President-General Amb. Chief John Chukwudi Metchie, whom they said fostered true peace and peaceful co-existence in the area. The stakeholders under the auspices of Umueri Elders Council, Umueri Liberation Forum and some other bodies in the community jointly endorsed the efforts of the President-General, saying that he is indeed a blessing to humanity having extended his philanthropy to Umueri community through the provision of social amenities.
* Anambra State Government may have finally decided to join the league of state governments that are sponsoring football teams in the various cadres of the nation’s domestic leagues. Former Nigeria international and current Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association Chikelue Iloenyosi says that he has received Executive approval by Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the establishment of Anambra State-owned football club.
* The pre launch for the commencement of the Made in Anambra export project, was convenned by the commissioner for Industry, Hon. Udechukwu Christian, at government house Awka, Anambra state. The pre launch was aimed at starting a campaign, for some of the leading industries in Anambra to begin strategic export into the 54 African countries, where local manufacturers in the state will be encouraged to key into the policy, which will enable them export freely into Africa and beyond.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has shut down the Anambra Printing and Publishing Corporation (ANPC), publishers of National Light Newspaper, Ka o di Taa (Igbo newspaper) Sportslight Extra (Sport newspaper). National Light was the corporation’s flagship. In a memo dated 21, July 2023 from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), addressed to the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, ANPC, Sir Chuka Nnabuife asked him to start the winding down of the corporation activities that would lead to the disengagement of its staff.
The memo addressed among other issues reasons for its closure as being moribund, economically unviable, and no longer fit for purpose. It was gathered that despite several pleas from some commissioners that Gov. Soludo was bent on destroying the paper’s legacy, the pride of the state. Insiders informed that Gov. Soludo wants to use the corporation’s expansive premises for an amusement park.
