* The Chief Medical Director, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Prof. Joseph Ugboaja says the Federal Government strategic direction and support were instrumental to fostering the smooth transition of the hospital to its permanent site. Speaking while addressing newsmen during a press briefing at the permanent site, Prof. Ugboaja explained that the milestone was fast-tracked by the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammad Ali Pate. He said that achievements at the health institution were in line with the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Initiative, (NHSRI) and stated that a 10- year development plan and strategic partnership of the hospital is targeted at positioning the hospital to be ranked among the top three health facilities in the country by 2030, stressing that improvement at the hospital were part of efforts to boost qualitative health care delivery to Nigerians.

* The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra State Chapter has expressed grief over the sudden demise of Ifeanyi Ubah, member representing Anambra Senatorial District in the National Assembly. Ubah, a billionaire oil mogul died in London on July 25 at the age of 52. SWAN Anambra in a condolence message signed by Chimezie Anaso, its chairman, described the death of Ubah as a big blow to sports in general and football in particular. both in the Anambra and the entire country.
The association said Ubah through his involvement in sports brought fame and fortune to many youths as well as joy to the hearts of not just sports lovers in Anambra but the entire country.

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze says Governor Chukwuma Soludo has continued to justify the mandate given to him by Ndi Anambra through massive development of all sectors of the State economy as well as well-being of the people. Felicitating Governor Soludo on behalf of the State Legislature as he marks his 64th birthday, Rt. Hon. Udeze through a statement signed by Mr. Emma Madu, SSA/Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, expressed satisfaction that Governor Soludo’s purposeful administration has placed Anambra State on a high pedestal in the midst of other states in the country, evident in the recent States Fiscal Development Transparency League Table where Anambra emerged number one out of the thirty six States of the federation.

* Human rights activist and chairman of International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), Nze Emeka Umeagbalasi, has flayed President Bola Tinubu for removing subsidy from petrolatum which has inflicted enormous hardship on the citizens of Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview in Onitsha, the Anambra State commercial hub, the activist said there is nothing like subsidy since the very meaning of Government is to provide the welfare of the people, which in effect implies subsidy.

* The death of Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has been described by the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze as a big loss to the Legislative Institution in Nigeria. Rt. Hon. Udeze In his condolence message noted that Senator Ubah’s death has created a great vacuum in the political space in the country. The Speaker who described the late Senator Ubah as a consummate and selfless politician, business mogul, sports developer and promoter, philanthropist and devout Christian, extolled his contributions to the development of his community, Nnewi, Anambra State and beyond.

* An environmental activist, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezike has called for concerted efforts to safeguard the environment. In an interview with newsmen in Awka, Ezike expressed regret over people’s indifferent attitudes towards the environment and vowed to continue using his non-governmental organization, Morizbo Green Awareness, to enlighten the public on environmental friendliness.

He attributed the environmental degradation and erosion in various areas across Anambra State to the negative attitude of the people towards the environment and condemned the practice of dumping refuse in unauthorized places, describing it as irresponsible and harmful to the environment and encouraged people to plant economic trees in their compounds to prevent erosion and improve their livelihoods.

* Law officers in the Anambra State Ministry of Justice have held the 2024 edition of their annual training session. The Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Sylvia Ifemeje, while declaring the event opened, urged participants to be more committed to their jobs by taking measures that will help them in effective service to the state, just as she urged them to put lessons of the day into practice in order to sharpen their legal skills in advocacy and stand out in legal practice. Prof. Ifemeje noted that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has made laudable and unparalled landmark achievement by working with the legislature and judiciary in the promulgation of appropriate laws and expeditious dispensation of justice, evident in the Governor signing 11 bills into law recently.

In a congratulatory message signed by Chimezie Anaso, its chairman, SWAN described the erudite professor as a man with passion for sports and healthy lifestyle.

* The chairman of Onitsha Main Market, Chief Innocent Ikechukwu Ezeoha, has explained why his administration suspended the renovation of the corporate headquarters of the Market popularly called “White House”. Chief Ezooha made this known during an interview with newsmen where he refuted spurious allegations against him by an online media platform, AIFA, media which alleged that he was planning to impose revenue on the traders which he would deploy in building a plaza at Johnson Street in the market.

* Amid confusion on the minimum age for admissions into tertiary institutions in Nigeria, Stephanie Chinazam Agbim, a British-Nigerian girl who had part of her secondary education at Best School International Abuja made records by finishing her university education at 18 years with First-class Honours in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from Coventry University, United Kingdom. She finished her university programme on the 5th of April, 2024 but the convocation ceremony was held on the 16th of July, 2024. The young girl makes family and also Nigeria proud as her home-country. Stephanie hails from Nimo, in Njikoka local Government Area, in Anambra state.
