* Godwin and Patricia Okeke Foundation (GPOF) has donated dormitory and classroom blocks to Special Secondary School for the Deaf in Odoakpu, Onitsha, Anambra State. The two buildings donated by GPO Foundation owned by the Adazi-Ani born business man and founder of GUO Motors, Chief Dr Godwin Okeke and wife, Patricia Okeke contains classrooms, office blocks, hostels and vocational centres well equipped with State-of-the-Art learning facilities. In his address during the official handover ceremony to the school management held at the School premises, Sir Okeke informed that the gesture was his way of giving the needy in the society a sense of belonging, provide adequate platform for formal education for the learning impaired persons (The Deaf) and to enable the students to have access to quality education.

* The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam directs the commencement of training and retraining of personnel aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, and increasing police knowledge and performance to ensure discipline and create better relationships with the public. The training is in line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD NPM, and his vision of ensuring Police effective service delivery to the Nigerian populace. According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the Capacity development exercise is mandatorily scheduled in batches for all personnel of the Command to relearn Police Duties, Police act and regulations, Musketry, Riot Drills, Foot Drills, Use of Firearms, and Human Rights, amongst others.

* After so many years of division and vacuum, Isiagu community in Awka South Local Government Area has elected a new Chairman for the youth wing of her town union in the person of Mr Chioma Ekemezie. The election which was conducted by the Election Committee headed by Comrade Chekwube Okoli used Option A4 and was supervised by the Anambra State Ministry of Youth Development and Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU and saw to the emergence of a new and substantive leadership for the youth wing
Hon. Ekemezie defeated his opponent, Mr. Ekene Igwenagu after polling 145 votes against Mr Igwenagu’s 141 votes.

* The Honorable member representing the good people of Oyi/Ayamelum federal constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Maureen Chinwe Gwacham have expressed sadness over the sudden demise of the former Transition Committee Chairman of Ayamelum and her campaign DG, Hon. Livinus Onyenwe.
According to Gwacham, “Hon. Livinus Onyenwe was a loyal, dedicated servant leader who prioritized competence and dedication to duty during the short while he spent with us on earth; his demise came as a rude shock to me. He will be greatly missed for his uprightness and pragmatism. May God grant an eternal rest to his soul and grant the family the fortitude to bear the huge loss Amen.

* Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has advised drivers to adhere strictly to designated routes to avoid endangering lives. The agency, in an ARTMA Report titled, ‘Notice to All Road Users and Drivers in Anambra State,’ frowned at the activities of road users who drive against traffic (one-way), adding that it has deployed a special team to curb the trend.

* Anambra State Ministry of Youth Development has concluded the screening exercise and revalidation of the master trainers ahead of the phase two of ths “1 Youth, 2 Skills” programme. The exercise which lasted for four days at the ASATU Hall, Government House, Awka, saw the screening and revalidation of over 600 master trainers from across the 21 local government areas of the state.
Addressing the master trainers, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba stated that the aim of the exercise was to ensure that the centers where the youths would be trained are of the needed standard.

* Acting Vice-Chancellor Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu has been honored with a merit award from the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS). The award was presented to Professor Ikechebelu during a courtesy visit by members of the Institute to his office. Mr Emma Afam Nwobu, the State Chairman of NIQS, stated that the award recognizes Professor Ikechebelu’s significant contributions to human development and the advancement of healthcare in Anambra State and Nigeria.

* The transition committee chairman of Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Engr. Anayochukwu Orjiakor has assured citizens of the council area that insecurity will be a thing of the past.
Orjiakor who was confirmed by the House of Assembly recently and returned again as the Local Government Chairman, said efforts were being made to ensure that Ihiala people slept with their two eyes closed devoid of disturbances. The TC chairman in an interview, said this time no stone would be left unturned especially as Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has said that he will support the people of Ihiala to  fight insecurity to the end.

* The Archdeacon, CHS Awka Archdeaconry, Ven Dr Onyeka Egwuonwu said the notion of calling some children illegitimate is wrong. He insisted that no child is illegitimate, particularly when the child has a father who impregnated his or her mother. He described three components of a name, comprising; identity, destiny and character as what makes every name unique and outstanding; hence, every father should strive to have a good name. Spoking in a sermon, Egwuonwu further added that good name is better than wealth and warned ladies particularly those at marriage age, not to marry wealth but good name comprising of the identity, destiny and character.

* The Database Association of Non-Indigenes in Anambra State (ANIAS) has revealed that its records now contains over two million non-indigenous residents in the state. According to Prince Chigozie Nweke, President of ANIAS, the association has been working tirelessly to capture the data of non-indigenes living in Anambra State. This effort, he explained, was prompted by allegations that non-indigenes were responsible for the insecurity in the state. During a visit to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, at his office, Nweke disclosed that the data capturing exercise commenced last year.
