* Advanced Development Solutions Investment, ADSi Multi-purpose Co-operative Society Limited has marked its one-year anniversary and launching ceremony. The event which was held in Awka, Anambra state capital was termed “vision casting” and award presentation. ANN reports that ADSi Multi-purpose Co-operative Society Limited, is a member of Anambra State Co-operative and Credit Marketing Union Limited, registered last year 2022 with the vision of becoming the most impactful and transformational cooperative society in Nigeria.

* In line with its principles of promoting global harmony and cultivating culture of peace, the United Nations Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre, UN PEPOLAC, has held its 2023 Annual Peace Advocates Convention bringing together peace advocates, diplomats, and representatives from various organizations. The event, held in Awka, had as its theme “Roles of Peace Advocates in Conflicts Prevention and Management in Nigeria.

* Chairman of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission Chief Vin Ifeanyichukwu Ezeaka says henceforth employees in the 21 local government areas of the state may begin to earn salaries the number of days they came to work. Ezeaka who disclosed this in Awka, expressed concern that lateness, redundancy, absenteeism and poor attitude to work seemed to have replaced diligence and commitment to work at the local government level.

* A former Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Prof Chinedu Nebo has been appointed as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University on the Niger, Anambra State.
Also, Dr Mrs Odisa Okeke was appointed the Registrar of the institution. The appointments were made public by the Bishop on the Niger, the Rt Rev Dr Owen Nwokolo, during the Trinity Ordination of the diocese held at the All Saints’ Cathedral, Onitsha.

* The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the red chambers of the National Assembly, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has unveiled more security gadgets to better secure Nnewi and environs. Some of the new gadgets are security surveillance cameras with street lights which will be mounted at 48 strategic places in Nnewi, uniform for the security operatives and barricade timbers which he called “osisi agaga” from Nnewi “.

* The Deputy Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly and member representing Njikoka 2 Constituency, Hon. Jude Akpua on Saturday held a thanksgiving mass over his election at his residence in Abba community. Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor who celebrated the mass, thanked God for the victory of Akpua. He urged members of the Anambra state house of assembly to ensure that their acts in the parliament are in the interest of the masses.

* Contrary to insinuations in some quarters that Ihiala LG Secretariat Complex is still in rubbles after being razed down by daredevil gunmen in January this year, the Transition Committee Chairman Hon. Kingsley Obi has said that such were lies from the pit of hell. Obi who said those peddling such lies were enemies of Soludo’s government, described the peddlers as idiots, saying that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has responded proactively to the rebuilding of the headquarters complex and that the reconstruction is on the verge of completion.

* Awka the Anambra state capital is wearing a new look following increased tempo in road construction. ANN monitored the pace and quality of work on the roads across seven villages that make up Agulu Awka and reports that Agulu Awka, make up of seven out of thirty-three villages in Awka, has been neglected in terms of road infrastructure since the community assumed its status as the state capital. As soon as Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration came on board, promises were made to give the community a face lift and soon after, many roads were not just inaugurated but construction work commenced.

* There is tension at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra state, following the race for who succeeds the current Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Charles Esimone. Already, three notable Professors have indicated interest to succeed him. They are Prof Ike Odimegwu of the Philosophy Department, Prof Alex, Asigbo of Theatre Arts and Prof Joseph Ikechebelu. Esimone’s tenure as the VC of the institution ends June, 2024, a year from now.

* The Press Secretary to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime has described the a viral video making the rounds on social media as part of hell’s agents dispensing insecurity fears in the state, He stated this in his response to a statement made by one Ifeanyi Orakwue in a video where he urged Igbos leaving abroad not to heed the call by the Governor to return home and invest. Orakwue had in the video said that there is high insecurity in Anambra state, hence Igbos abroad and outside the state should not return home.
