# The Chairman Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Iweka III of Obosi Ukwalla kingdom has proposed for the creation of three Local Government Area out of Obosi Community which is currently in Idemili North LGA.

Iweka maintained that the vastness, population and development of the community qualifies it for multiple LGAs.

Eze Iweka III made the call recently at the National Assembly, Abuja while presenting his proposal which contains a detailed documentation of the statistical representation of the population, infrastructure, revenue strength, strategic location, investment opportunities Obosi community possesses and the grassroot development and other benefits the creation of the LGAs will offer to Nigeria and her citizens.

In a related development at the International Conference Center, Enugu State during a conference , The Chairman Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Iweka III condemned in its entirety the removal of the functions of the Traditional Rulers from the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria describing it as a huge mistake.

# The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu has expressed his deep appreciation to the Management of the Nigeria Police Force for the delivery of a new Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) to the Command.

Orutugu stated this when he received the APC at the State Police Headquarters on behalf of the Officers and Men of the State Police Command.

This critical asset, according to the CP, will significantly enhance the Command’s operational capacity, especially in tackling emerging security challenges and strengthening the ongoing efforts toward maintaining peace, law, and order across the State.

The CP further acknowledges the continuous support of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, whose proactive leadership continues to reflect in the improved logistics, welfare, and morale of officers nationwide.

The Anambra State Police Command reassures Ndi Anambra of its renewed commitment to the protection of lives and property, and calls for continued cooperation from residents to ensure a safer Anambra for all.

# Anambra state former political appointees have vowed to remove the incumbent governor Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo from office on November 8th this year over allegations of deceit and fake promises.

The resolution to unseat the governor was made during the official endorsement of the APC gubernatorial candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu by the former appointees in Awka.

Convener of the former appointees and senior aide to the Senate president, Owelle Onyeka Mbaso, told journalists that they will vote APC come November 8th.

# All is now set to Commence Secondary School Program at Vinkate Int’l Schools Odume Layout Obosi, Idemili North LGA.

The Award winning school also gave out scholarships to outstanding pupils, announced special offer of partly free registration to the first 50 pupils and students who will register with Vinkate Int’l Schools including free registration for Holiday Lessons.

Speaking during the 2024/2025 Graduation and Awards Ceremony at No 37 Umuoji Street Odume Layout Obosi, the Proprietress of Vinkate Int’l Schools, Hon. Amb. Obi Iwuchukwu Chinwenma revealed that the Government Approved & Upgrade Schools which had been running Creche, Pre- Nursery, Nursery and Primary Schools over a decade will commence Secondary School Program in September 2025.

# Anambra Governorship candidate of Action Alliance (AA) for November 8th 2025 gubernatorial poll, Ozo Jeff Nweke, has pledged to rekindle hope among the youth if elected.

In a campaign message delivered on Monday, Nweke emphasized that his ambition is not driven by a thirst for power, but by a desire to serve and restore hope to the disillusioned youth of Anambra State.

Nweke, who described himself as the best candidate to change the narrative in governance, noted that the wolves in sheep’s clothing ruled the State by providing those things only favourable and beneficial to themselves and families.

Ozo Jeff Nweke urged the electorate to make a decisive choice and vote for him, stressing that he has stepped forward to fix the systemic issues hindering the progress of the masses, especially the youths.

# The traditional ruler of Abacha community in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State, His Royal Majesty Igwe Godwin Nwabunwanne Odiegwu, (Eze Dioramma) says all plans has been concluded in preparations to celebrate its 2025 New Yam Festival.

Igwe Odiegwu also revealed that preparations are underway for his second Ofala Festival, scheduled to hold later this year and that these two festivals are among the most significant cultural events in the community because they promote unity, love, and brotherhood among the indigenes.

Speaking during a brief interview with journalists in his office in Onitsha recently, HRM Igwe Odiegwu stated that the annual New Yam Festival, celebrated with great splendor, will be held on August 8th at his palace in Umudisi village, Abacha. The Ofala Festival, he noted, will take place later in the year.

According to the monarch, the two festivals are expected to bring together both indigenes at home and those in the diaspora, while also attracting friends and well-wishers to join in the celebrations.

# The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka in company of the members of the University’s Governing Council has commissioned the Solar Powered Projects at the five hostels of the University.

The Solar powered projects commissioned by the Acting VC, were solar powered bore hole system for efficient water supply, solar powered charging points, solar powered lighting points and solar powered free Internet services all domiciled at the five University Hostels comprising of Basil Oli Hostel, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Hostel, Dora Akunyili Hostel, Stella Okoli Hostel and Oby Okoli Hostel.

Prof. Arinze-Umobi said the solar powered projects were part of her administrative objectives and goals in ensuring the welfare of students of the institution residing in the University hostels by enhancing their living conditions to aid their academic pursuit in the University.

The Acting VC charged the hostel leadership and the entire students of the Hostels to ensure they do not abuse the privileges made available to them by the University management but to help in managing the projects for greater efficiency and longevity.

# Moved by the devastating effect of erosion menace in their Vision World Estate, at Uruokokwu Umuogali Oba, Idemili South LGA, Anambra State, which resulted in the collapse of a building and 20 others on the verge of collapse, the residents of the estate embarked on Save Our Soul, (SOS), appeal protest to Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

They attributed the erosion menace to the fast flood caused by the shoddy work done by the contractor that rehabilitated the damaged portion of the Onitsha/Owerri road, accusing the contractor of channeling the flood to their estate thereby causing hardship when ever it rains.

Some of the protesting residents carried placards with the inscriptions , “Gov. Soludo Solution come to our rescue, Vision World estate Oba needs Solution, Soludo we need your attention here, Save Our Soul”, among others.

# The Executive Director, Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre, RULAAC, Okechukwu Nwanguma, has questioned the loud silence of the Nigeria Police over allegation of organ harvesting levelled against its operatives in Anambra State.

A whistleblower, Nnamdi Emeh, a 26-year-old NYSC member and IT consultant to the Anambra State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), two years ago made startling revelations against some police operatives, who are still walking freely today.

Emeh, who worked closely with the police squad, had alleged extrajudicial killings, organ harvesting, and extortion allegedly perpetrated by senior police officers in the state.

Against the order of a Federal High Court for his release, Emeh is still behind bars,  while the accused officers walk free.

Reacting to the development, Nwanguma, queried why the police report has remained a secret two years after submission. He insisted that if the investigation was indeed thorough and honest, the public deserves to know the truth.
