# The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra State Chapter, and the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, have congratulated Chikelue Iloenyosi on his re-election as Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (AnSFA).
In a congratulatory message signed by the SWAN Chairman, Chimezie Anaso, and Secretary, Uche Ndeke, the association described Iloenyosi’s unopposed and unanimous re-election for another four-year term as a clear endorsement of his dynamic leadership and commitment to the development of football in Anambra State.
The association urged him to sustain his vision and dedication to youth development and football excellence.
SWAN also congratulated members of the newly elected AnSFA board, expressing optimism for stronger collaboration and more impactful initiatives that would further position Anambra as a football powerhouse.
Similarly, on behalf of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports and the sports-loving community in the state, Commissioner Patrick Agha Mba extended his warm congratulations to Iloenyosi.

# The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, has called for stronger collaboration between the state government and journalists to enhance public awareness of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s development initiatives.
Mefor made the appeal on Thursday while addressing members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, during its July Congress in Awka.
He described his reappointment for a second term as a renewed mandate to work harder for the state and expressed appreciation to journalists for their continued support of the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation, as well as their fair coverage of the Soludo administration.
The commissioner announced plans to introduce quarterly media briefings aimed at strengthening engagement between the government and the media.
According to him, the briefings will provide an opportunity to review government achievements, receive feedback from journalists, and identify areas requiring improvement.
He also reaffirmed his open-door policy and stressed the importance of media partnership in tackling insecurity, urging journalists to support the state’s security architecture by providing credible information to security agencies.
Mefor further requested to be admitted as an associate member of the Anambra NUJ Council and pledged technical support for the union’s proposed cooperative society by providing relevant documentation to assist its establishment.
In his response, the Chairman of the NUJ, Anambra State Council, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, thanked the commissioner for his visit and support while reaffirming the union’s commitment to professionalism and editorial independence.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, gave the assurance while receiving officials of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RULAC) Phase Two Project on a courtesy visit to her office.
Speaking during the visit, the Anti-Corruption Programme Manager, RoLAC Phase II, International IDEA, Dr. Emmanuel Uche, explained that the project seeks to improve public service delivery by establishing effective systems for oversight and accountability across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The team highlighted ongoing efforts to institutionalise anti-corruption committees across MDAs, strengthen the project’s secretariat with government support, and deepen collaboration with the current administration to ensure the successful implementation of the strategy.
Responding, the SSG described the initiative as timely and commendable but stressed the need for sustainability to ensure lasting impact. She noted that while projects may be supported by development partners, they must be designed to endure beyond external funding through strong government ownership and institutional commitment.
Mrs. Nnake reaffirmed that the Anambra State Government is willing to support programmes that promote transparency, strengthen accountability, and improve service delivery, provided they deliver measurable and sustainable benefits to the people.

# The Anambra State Executive Council has officially approved a N200 billion capital base for the Anambra Development and Investment Corporation (ADIC), signaling a major shift in the state’s approach to infrastructure financing and economic development.
The Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration has pledged to contribute up to 30% of the total capital base, and as an immediate step, the state government has earmarked an initial N5 billion through budgetary appropriation; an amount that serves as the first tranche of the state’s equity subscription and is scheduled to be funded by the closing date of the corporation’s Phase I investor capital-raising programme.
According to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ADIC, Mr. Nwabunwanne Okonkwo, the remaining portion of the state’s equity participation will be fulfilled in subsequent phases, stating that the strategy includes the transfer of specific state-owned assets to the corporation to bolster its capitalization.
He stared that beyond direct financial injections, the government has committed to fostering a robust investment climate for the corporation, a support that will involve aligning state policies, providing institutional backing, developing a pipeline of viable projects, and ensuring an enabling environment for large-scale infrastructure delivery.
He stressed that it is designed to operate as a professionally managed and commercially driven entity, as ADIC is tasked with adhering to strict corporate governance principles and investment discipline, adding that the corporation is mandated to collaborate with a wide array of stakeholders—including development finance institutions, pension funds, commercial banks, and sovereign investors—to attract long-term capital aimed at driving transformative projects across Anambra State and the surrounding region.
# The Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon. Rome Ibekwe, has commissioned a solar-powered borehole and a modern public toilet facility at Afor Agulu Market as part of efforts to improve public infrastructure and sanitation in the area.
Speaking during the inauguration, Ibekwe expressed gratitude to God for His blessings upon the people of Anaocha, noting that the projects align with the development vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration. He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality services and improving the welfare of residents through impactful projects.

At a meeting held at the Ministry of Education, State Secretariat Complex, Awka, Dr. Ogugua met with the Principal of the school, Mrs. Gertrude Onwudufor, and the President-General of the host community, Engr. Bonny Onwuka, to discuss practical measures for safeguarding the school and preventing future incidents.
During the meeting, stakeholders identified several security challenges affecting the effective protection of the school and proposed measures to improve access control and surveillance within the premises.
Among the recommendations was the installation of CCTV cameras to enhance monitoring of movement within and around the school, alongside other measures aimed at improving the security of government facilities.
Expressing concern over the theft, Dr. Ogugua reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that facilities provided for students are adequately protected.
He emphasized the need for close collaboration among the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Housing, the school management, and the host community in securing public assets.

# The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr Law Mefor has described the Solution Fun City as one of the flagship and legacy projects of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, which is turning Awka into a leisure capital and Anambra into a destination of choice where people will deliberately plan to visit, live, work, invest, relax, and enjoy, and pledged the ministry’s support for its continued success.
Dr Mefor spoke while receiving a delegation from Solution Fun City led by the Manager of Sales, Marketing, and Entertainment, Uzoamaka Chukwu, who visited his office in Awka, to inform him of the park’s one-year anniversary coming up on Sunday.
He commended the park’s management for the remarkable one-year milestone, even as he admonished that maintenance and safety would determine the facility’s long-term viability, stressing that “once a safety concern is raised, it’s a red flag.”
Linking the project to the Soludo administration’s broader vision, Dr Mefor said the Solution Fun City was conceived about three years ago to position Awka as a leisure capital within the governor’s plan to transform Anambra into “one big smart megacity”.
He urged the management to continue to uphold the park’s slogan, “Fun Like No Other”, to reflect reality.
