* Managing Director and Chief Superintendent of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra State, OCHA, Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere, says he owes his managerial prowess, practical leadership and administrative qualities, to the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ozonkpu (Dr) Victor Ike Oye. Anere who stated this in Awka while speaking on the achievements of the former APGA supremo, noted that he took his time to understudy Ozonkpu Oye whom he described as a pragmatic leader and a father figure, adding that he had continued to follow his footsteps and guidance.
* Prophet Dan Okechukwu Ezeudoka from Udorji, Uruagu Nnewi in Anambra State has brought glad tidings for the victimized Mmesoma Ejikeme. This prophecy came amidst social media condemnations following the allegation by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB, that Mmesoma doctored her UTME result to clench the highest scorer position.
* Nduka Foundation in conjunction with Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB on Tuesday July 4, held its third edition of award recognition to academic excellence amongst primary school. President of Nduka Foundation, Chief Mrs Chinwe Uduka in her speech said this is the third edition of Anambra state primary school accademic excellence recognition ceremony in collaboration with ASUBEB.
* Two communities in Anambra State have been allegedly given conditions on how to bury their deceased loved ones by hoodlums referred to as unknown gunmen. The communities, Isseke and Azia, are both in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state where activities of hoodlums said to be separatist elements are rife. ANN gathered that the communities were mandated by the hoodlums not to conduct burials with more than 20 persons in attendance or risk attack. They were also told that security operatives would no longer be allowed in the community, and that persons coming back for the burial of their deceased relatives, friends or associates, must be warned not to come home with security men
* Mr Romanus Ejikeme, father to Mmesoma who was accused of forging her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Exam result has said the family has no plan to sue the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Ejikeme told journalists who visited his house at Nnewi on Tuesday, that the family had left everything to God to judge. He insisted that her daughter did not forge her results saying that she was a hardworking and studious student who did not joke with her studies.
* Executive Director, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) Dr Christian Madubuko
has lamented over the involvement of stakeholder in revenue diversions. Madubuko while speaking during the parad of about fifteen men for suspected revenue diversions, maintained that most diversions are perpetrated by people who should be ‘stakeholders’
* Anambra State Government has intervened to rescue the gully erosion that has eaten up a lane of Onitsha – Owerri road (Oba section). The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma who visited the site said that the State Government is moving immediately to arrest the situation and prevent further devastation. According to Mr. Commissioner, ” We have a very urgent, critical and emergency situation as the road is about to be cut into two. The road belongs to the Federal Government, but if we leave it like that, there would be lost of live and properties of Ndi Anambra, and so, Mr. Governor directed immediate arrest of the situation while we wait for the Federal Government”
* Mmesoma Ejikeme, the Anambra State student who was accused of manually inflating her 2023 UTME result by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has admitted forging the result showing 362 score. Speaking during an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday, Mss Ejikeme confirmed that she received an automated text message from JAMB indicating that her score was 249.
* The Anambra State Ministry of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism will soon commence training of talents in the film industry. The Commissioner, Mr Don Onyenji who disclosed this in Awka,, said the training which will be for both the young and the old will cover from conception to the entire value chain of film making. Onyenji said this is aimed at growing the industry to accommodate more people to further strengthen the entertainment industry in Anambra state and Southeast.
* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, is to collaborate with its Navy counterpart to protect some critical national assets and fight against illegal oil dealings, facility vandalism, among others in Anambra State. The newly deployed NSCDC Commandant in Anambra State, Mr Edwin Osuala, stated this in continuation of his visit to service commanders in the state. Osuala made the call when he visited Navy Captain Godfrey Osuobeni, the Naval Commander, Nigerian Navy Outpost, Onitsha.
