* A student of Premium Breed Secondary School, Nnewichi Nnewi, Anambra State, Favour Chigozie Nwadinobi, has emerged as the overall best in Chemistry in Anambra. As a result, he has become one of the six finalists to represent Nigeria at the 2023 International Chemistry Olympiad held in Switzerland. Nwadinobi competed with students from over 600 schools in Anambra to emerge as one of the finalists to represent the country.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has implored new matriculants of Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu in Awka North Local Government Area to be helpful to themselves, families and society by studying well and acquiring necessary skills and knowledge in their academic journey in the institution. Soludo gave the advice during the sixth and seventh matriculation ceremony of the polytechnic for 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions. Soludo who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, told the students that their future lies in their hands and that life is about choice, adding that it behooves on them to make decisions that will make them progressive in life.

* In line with the industrial development agenda of Anambra, the state government has reiterated readiness to partner Anti-Piracy Society of Nigeria (APSON) in fight against fake and adulterated products. Commissioner for Industry, Christian Udechukwu, in a meeting with executive members of APSON in Awka, stated that Governor Charles Soludo has zero tolerance policy for piracy, counterfeiting and copyright infringement because he understands the value of intellectual property protection.

* A massive changes and innovations are happening in the industrial sector of Anambra State economy, and would be manifest in the next six months Commissioner for Industry Anambra State, Christian Udechukwu made the disclosure in Awka when the executive members of Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture paid him a courtesy visit. According to the commissioner, Governor Soludo as the Chief Marketing Officer of all industries in Anambra has been actively promoting made-in-Anambra goods. Udechukwu revealed that state government plans to use the power of procurement to spend money only on those businesses that are operating within the state; and to promote such entities nationally and globally.

* The Managing Director Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) Mr. Mark Okoye says Governor Chukwuma Soludo is in talks with the concessionaire for the Onitsha River Port to discuss how best to finalize the dredging of River Niger. Okoye while addressing questions raised by reporters at a media roundtable Friday June 9, 2023 at the agency’s Boardroom in Awka, gave details about ongoing engagements with stakeholders and potential investors to finalize some projects such as the Anambra Mixed-Use City, AUU Automotive Industrial Park, Integrated Agro-Industrial Park, the Anambra Export Emporium, Anambra Intra-City Rail project, and Solution Innovation & Technology District.

* The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has commissioned the first manufacturing steel industry in the South-East region.The ceremony was performed at the company, located along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Council. In his address, Governor Soludo hailed the team of partners who helped build the magnificent edifice, saying that it sends a message about the importance of partnership. He maintained that he has come to celebrate three things including the company, industry, and homeland consciousness.

* Willie Obiano, the immediate past Anambra State Governor has been dragged before the United State District Court for the Southern District of Texas over the alleged gruesome killing of five members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the Nigerian Army.

According to court documents obtained by Sahara Reporters on Friday, the suit was filed by the wives of the deceased identified as Jane Does 1-5, the complainants who are seeking for damages under “the Torture Victim Protection Act against Defendant Willie Obiano for the extrajudicial killings under colour of Nigerian law by Nigerian military forces under Defendant’s command and control of their husbands, identified as John Does 1-5.”

* The Federal Commissioner representing Ananmbra State in the National Population Commission Mr. Chidi Ezeoke have listed progress made so far for the success of the exercise before it was suspended. Ezeoke while speaking in a one-day breakfast meeting with media executives over the postponement of 2023 population and housing census said the postponement was in order for the new administration to oversee the exercise because of its importance to economic planning and national development, adding that the commission is ready whenever the Federal Government okays it.
