# The Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Ozomagana Markets Union, Hon. Tochukwu Umeh, has refuted media reports alleging the reinstatement of a previously dissolved executive body at the Ozomagana Building Materials Market, Onitsha South Local Government Area.

Describing the reports as false, misleading, and capable of inciting confusion, the chairman affirmed that the current caretaker committee remains the only legitimate leadership structure recognized by the State Government.

According to the chairman, the report circulating in some quarters suggesting that Chief Obiora Okoro and his former executive members have been reinstated by the Mayor of Onitsha South LGA, is not only incorrect but a deliberate attempt to undermine the authority of the State Government and disrupt the peace and order currently being enjoyed in the market.

 

# The former Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor says Governor Chukwuma Soludo, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) led administration has consistently remained an epitome of democracy in its true sense of practice in Nigeria.

Rt. Hon. Okafor in his goodwill message stated that Soludo since his swearing-in on March 17, 2022, rested in delivering democratic dividends to the state in first-class honours standards.

“As we commemorate June 12, Democracy Day in Nigeria, 2025, I deem it appropriate to express my deepest satisfaction with the consistent high and ceaseless tempo of overall development that the solution governor has brought across all sectors and enablers of democracy, of which the good people of Anambra State are witnessing and testifying to’. Okafor stated

 

# It was a moment of grief in Awka, as the burial ceremony of the 17-year-old Frank Anene, who died during the just-concluded 2025 Imo Awka Festival, held amid tears, tributes, and cultural lamentations.

Recall that Frank, a native of Okpaeri Village in Amikwo-Awka and the only surviving son of his family, was killed in a fatal accident on Sunday, May 10, while participating in the age-old festival that celebrates the ancestral heritage and spiritual identity of the Awka people.

His burial ceremony drew sympathizers from across the town, including students, youth groups, community leaders, and traditional custodians of culture, who came to pay their last respect to deceased in solemnity.

 

# The Anambra State Signage & Advertisement Agency (ANSAA) has held a press briefing at its headquarters in Awka to officially unveil the Out-of-Home Promotions and Visual Campaign Guidelines for the upcoming Anambra State Governorship Election 2025.

Speaking during the press briefing on Wednesday, the MD/CEO of ANSAA, Odili Tony Ujubuonu, appreciated the media for the support they have given the Agency and the Government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo in the higher duties of making Anambra a prosperous, livable, and digitally driven homeland.

In the same vein, Ujubuonu also appreciated all political parties for the peaceful conduct of their primary elections and for maintaining decorum across the state.

 

# The Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command CP Ikioye Orutugu has ordered the detention of three Police Inspectors over an allegation of corruption.

CP. Orutugu further directed the immediate commencement of internal disciplinary proceedings of the Force on the officers.

The Police boss during interrogation of the Officers frowned at the poor character exhibition of how they accosted an unsuspecting member of the public during a security patrol, forcibly searched his phone and extorted from the victim.

The CP reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force, as a disciplined, transparent, responsible, responsive and accountable institution will never condone any form of abuse of office, corruption and sundry unprofessional conduct.

He noted that such anomalies, aside from negating the professional calling of the Police, are unacceptable as they affect the entire execution of policies and directives, thereby widening the trust gap between the citizens and the Force.

 

# The Local Government Chairman of Njikoka Bar. Chinedu Ononiba has officially flagged off the Free Distribution of Educational Books to primary school pupils across the LGA.

This initiative is part of the local government’s commitment to improving literacy, supporting quality education, and easing the financial burden on parents.

This program is in support of the laudable effort of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the education sector.

The flag-off ceremony took place across the primary schools in Njikoka LGA and was attended by education officials, community leaders, teachers, and pupils.

 

# The Anambra Patriots for Soludo, a prominent grassroots support group, officially flagged off their campaign in support of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo ahead of the November 8, 2025 gubernatorial election.

The event, held at Government House Perm-Site Market Ukwuorji in Awka, marked a strategic beginning to the group mobilization effort, aligning with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.

The flag-off ceremony featured the distribution of customized aprons to market women seen as a key voter bloc in the state symbolizing both endorsement and commitment to Governor Soludo re-election bid.

The aprons, equipped with zipper pouches for convenience were designed to not only promote Soludo candidacy but also support traders in their day to day activities.

 

# The Chairman of Njikoka LGA Hon. Chinedu Ononiba has officially inaugurated the Finance and Management Team for Agunechemba Security in Enugwu-ukwu,

The security initiative is targeted to boost security and ensure robust safety of people and property in and around Njikoka.

Addressing Members of Agunechemba Finance and Management Team for Enugwu-ukwu Community at Enugwu-ukwu Civic Center, Ononiba called on the team to prioritise vigilance, patriotism, efficiency and probity in the discharge of their primary responsibility.

The Mayor noted that only synergy of purpose among security agencies and stakeholders would engender far-reaching impact, and admonished the newly inaugurated Agunechemba Finance and Management Team to liaise with the relevant Security agencies (Police, Civil Defence, FRSC, DSS and others ) and ensure optimal security of Enugwu-ukwu in particular and Njikoka in general.

 

# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has extolled those distinguished and visionary Statesmen and women who have made significant contributions and sacrifices for the realization of Nigeria’s Democracy, describing their efforts as selfless and gallantry.

Felicitating Nigerians, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that the history of Nigeria’s Democracy has not been smooth until 1999 when true and uninterrupted Democracy returned, stressing that Democracy has allowed active participation of citizens in choosing their leaders and contributing to the well-being of the masses.

The Speaker who regretted the spate of corruption and economic challenges confronting the masses, maintained that a collective resolution to address corruption and foster a broad based prosperity is required to enjoy a country that is not for a few privileged individuals, but for all Nigerians.

Udeze enjoined Ndi Anambra to appreciate the numerous Democracy dividends Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration has provided for them in many areas by supporting his reelection in the forthcoming Anambra State governorships election on November 8, 2025.

He called on Nigerians to use this Democracy Day Anniversary to rededicate themselves for genuine service to the country and shun acts capable of truncating the Nation’s Democracy.
