* The Anambra State Ministry of Environment has launched a massive tree planting and urban forestation initiative.
The event which took place at Agu-Awka was aimed at planting millions of trees across the state, revive eroded pieces of lands, and beautify the environment. The wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nonye Soludo, while speaking emphasized the importance of trees in the ecosystem, encouraging residents to support the state’s tree planting and urban forestation initiative. She suggested a hotline for reporting tree cutting, highlighting the need for collective action in protecting the environment.

* Vicar, St Paul’s Catholic Church Akpo, Rev. Fr. George Arugbue has called on ndi Anambra and the entire Nigerians to make present day economic woes stepping stone to better life. The clergy while addressing his congregation noted that the globe has been witnessing economic downturn and Nigeria has had large share of it before now.

* A non-governmental organization ‘Diven Mandate Actualization (DMA) comprising members from various political parties, has commended Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for his giant strides. DMA Anambra State Cordinator, Chief Emmanuel Idemili, speaking in an event held in Awka said the group has been in existence for the past sixteen years. According to Chief Idemili, the aims and objective of the group is to support people who are credible and having scrutinized the government of Soludo, DMA decided to endorse him for second tenure.

* Amidst economic uncertainties where budgets tighten and expenses scrutinized, Anambra State Small business Agency (ASBA), has provided succor for civil servants after retirement through the ASBA Civil Servant Solution Retirement Entrepreneurship Loan Scheme. According to the MD/CEO ASBA, Mr Clement Chukwuka during a media chat in his office complex, the scheme aimed at supporting civil servants to have a thriving business to fall back on after service. Mr Chukwuka reiterated that the Agency’s mandate remained to ensure that poverty is reduced to its bearest minimum through funding and capacity building.

* The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor has called on the federal government to take urgent and proactive measures to alleviate the hardship that Nigerians are passing through. The Prelate maintained that what Nigerians need urgently is poverty and hunger eradication; eradication of insecurity, banditry and terrorism; affordable and accessible health care; functional, purpose-driven and well-equipped education system among others. Ikeakor while speaking at Immanuel Anglican Church, Ekwulumili in Nnewi, noted that Nigeria is one of the countries in the world that God blessed with so much human and material resources, regretted that the greatest problem of the country is leadership and that after sixty-four years as an independent nation, Nigeria cannot have functional refineries, steady power supply with over three hundred percent hike in electricity tariff and explained that the hardship and strangulating pains of the removal of fuel subsidy without institutional cushioning plan has become unbearable to Nigerians.

* It was a dramatic scene as a suspected fake lawyer was arrested while trying to defend a case at Otuocha court in Anambra. According to reports, authorities caught up with the impostor, who had allegedly been pretending to be a lawyer since December and appearing in court since then. The suspected fake lawyer’s dishonesty became apparent when he was unable to provide evidence of his assertions or even show that he had a basic understanding of the law during interrogation. This was corroborated by a video currently trending online, which shows the self-acclaimed lawyer being handcuffed by the police the moment the Magistrate ordered his arrest, while he continues resisting arrest, insisting that he’s a lawyer.

* The management and staff of Anambra State Ministry of Lands have been charged to continue to uphold their culture of professionalism while carrying out their duties. A guest speaker, Mr Praise Fowowe gave the charge during a zoom interactive training session organized for the management and staff of Anambra State Ministry of Lands.
According to Mr. Fowowe, the quality of the staff of the ministry would impact either positively or negatively on the quality of outputs of the ministry, urging them never to allow their personal interests to override the overall public interest of the ministry which supports the vision of the ministry for a liveable and prosperous Anambra State through appropriate land administration.

* The Pivot, a non governmental organization has rolled out plans to organize the maiden 2024 Pivot Challenge for young entrepreneurs in the southeast to boost entrepreneurship and economic development of the region. The organizers said the idea for the programme was to harness the enormous talents, creativity and innovative spirit of the southeast people, particularly youths towards solving the challenges of the region and country at large. They said the programme would take place in Anambra and would attract young entrepreneurs in the southeast region between the ages of 18 and 35.

* The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programmes, Dr Nelson Omenugha joined the Anambra State Albinism Association in celebrating their day. In his remark, at the event held
at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka, Dr. Nelson Omenugha noted that Albinism is not a disability but just people with special needs and encouraged them to always stand to be counted. He emphasized that the Governor Soludo-led administration will leave no one behind in the scheme of things, especially the youth and assured them of inclusion. Dr Omenugha, encouraged them to always engage themselves meaningfully to enable people see avenues to support them and reminded them of opportunities that abound in Anambra state youth ministry including 1 Youth 2 Skills programme and opportunities inherent in the Solution Innovation District.

* Anambra State Chairman, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Engr. Victor Metu said
investigation has commenced to unravel the true cause of the collapse five storey building at Onitsha. Engr. Metu, who disclosed this to Journalists in Awka, on said the three trapped workers were successfully rescued alive before midnight of Wednesday. According to him, the three construction workers, who were initially trapped at the five-storey building collapsed at the premises of Dennis Memorial Grammar  School in Onitsha, the commercial hub of Anambra State, have been rescued alive.
