# Police Operatives attached to the Awgbu Divisional Headquarters, leveraging on community support, arrested Chimaobi Mbonu aged 19 years old allegedly a member of a kidnapping gang involved in the kidnap and murder of late Mr George Onwurah in May 2024 at Ndiukwuenu Village, Orumba North Local Government Area.
Preliminary information revealed that the said Chimaobi and some other gang members still at large kidnapped and tortured their victims to death after collecting ransom.
The criminal gang is also responsible for the vandalization of the Community Health Care Centre, where they stole a lot of electrical materials and other valuables.
Given the above, the Operatives have emplaced operational plans to arrest other gang members that are currently at large.
# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has approved the release of N6.154 billion counterpart funds for the 2022, 2023 and 2024 State’s Universal Basic Education (UBE) matching grant.
The State Chairman of Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, disclosed this to journalists in Awka.
Dr Nwadinobi said the funds released by the Anambra government would enable the state to access an equivalent amount from the Universal Basic Education Commission.
According to her, UBEC will make the sum of N12.308 billion available for another round of UBE Intervention projects by this development.
# The Police Operatives attached to Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters rescued two children between the ages of 3 and 5 years and arrested Onyedika Daniel aged 19 years and Nkechi Onuwa aged 25 years at Okpuno – Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.
The Operatives’ swift reaction followed a report by the mother of the victims, that one of her children came and narrated to her how an unknown person had taken away two of his siblings on their way to her shop along Nwafor Junction, Eziora, Ozubulu.
According to a press release signed by SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, during the interrogation of the suspect, Onyedika admitted to the crime and took the Operatives to Oba where he had already handed over to Nkechi Onuwa for the continuation of their criminal plan.

# The Deputy Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Akpua has commissioned 18 powered-shops in Nkwoye Orji, Egbengwu Nimo.
The commissioning ceremony attracted party faithful, community stakeholders, women and youths of the town.
Dr. Akpua who is the lawmaker representing Njikoka two Constituency while speaking at the event said the project was carried out under his “Community Choose Your Project Initiative” – an initiative targeted at repositioning and addressing the infrastructure decay in the constituency.

commissioning of 18 solar-powered shops at Egbengwu Nimo, under the “Community Choose Your Project Initiative, on Friday, praised Hon. Akpua who is the lawmaker representing Njikoka two Constituency, for resurrecting the Nkwo Oye Orji Market which has been dormant for over 35 years.
Ononiba maintained that Nimo has been revitalized through the project, thanking Akpua for providing a modern space for commerce and sustainable livelihoods.
The loca government boss revealed that

Washington Memorial Grammar School at Justice Ikpeazu Stadium, Onitsha produced finalists in both u-18 Boys and girls.
The boys’ team came from 1-0 down earlier to defeat hard fighting Modebe Memorial Sch, Onitsha 4-1.
The girls had already qualified to play against Inland Girls Sec. Sch. in the finals, and the boys against Community Sec. Sch., Iyiowa for the decider to represent Onitsha zone.
