# Anambra State Albinism Association (ASAA) has reported that a total of nine members are currently battling melanoma popularly known as skin cancer.
The group appealed for the intervention of the state government, organisations, and spirited individuals for the treatment of their ailing members.
They also called for support, care and improved welfare of the albinism community in the state.
The State Chairman of ASAA, Mr Israel Ben Orizu, disclosed this during an event to celebrate the International Albinism Awareness Day, held in collaboration with the VIVIGOLD Foundation and Anambra State Disabilities Rights Commission.
# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has approved the sum of ₦15 million to support the mass burial of 43 residents of Ogwuaniocha community in Ogbaru Local Government Area, who tragically lost their lives during a violent communal crisis in November 2021.
The cheque was officially presented to Hon. Vitalis Ekweanua, President General of Ogwuaniocha Progressive Association, by the State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barr. Anthony Ifeanya, on behalf of the Governor.
While presenting the funds, Barr. Ifeanya commended the community for taking meaningful steps towards restoring peace and stability.
He assured them of the government’s commitment to rebuilding and supporting Ogwuaniocha, emphasizing that the state will not neglect its obligations to any part of Anambra,especially host communities like theirs.
# Francis Izuchukwu Udobi, a tipper driver narrowly escaped death when hoodlums said to be working for officials of the Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) attacked him and unleashed terror and mayhem on him and his conductor in front of Young Shall Grow park Upper Iweka Onitsha, shortly after he parked his truck to collect a waybill sent to him from Lagos state.
The tipper driver who narrated his ordeal said the sad incident occurred when he parked his truck with his conductor inside it and went into the Young Shall Grow park to collect a waybill only for him to spot five hefty men who swooped on his truck beating his conductor and raiding his vehicle.
He said he rushed out immediately to know what was happening only for the ARTMA recruited miscreants to panel-beat him with weapons to the point of death as the criminals almost chopped off one of his arms.
# As a way of recognizing the contributions of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade to the reduction of touting and illegal revenue collectors in the state, Anambra State Drivers Welfare Association, ASDWA, has inducted the Managing Director of the brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere as her patron.
Comrade Anere was inducted when the executive of the association paid him a courtesy visit at the command’s corporate headquarters in Awka .
Speaking before the induction, the state Chairman of the group, Sir Nnamdi Okafor said Comrade Anere was chosen for his fatherly role and support to the organization.
# The Mayor of Anaocha LGA, Hon. Rome Ibekwe, played host to a strategic meeting with APGA LGA Chairmen of Anambra Central.
The meeting, convened at the Anaocha Secretariat in Neni, brought together key stakeholders, including APGA State Vice Chairman Central, Chief Nduka Okoye, APGA State Youth Leader, Dr. Tochukwu Obiadi, and State Ex-Officio, Barr. Ugochukwu Ibeneme.

# The members of Staff of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka, stormed the office of the Chief Medical Director, Hon. Dr. Joe Akabuike, on a joyful celebration after he came victorious in a legal battle initiated to reclaim his personality and integrity.
The Head of Medical Laboratory Services, Mr. Okechukwu Umeh disclosed that their reason for storming the office of the Chief Medical Director was to celebrate with him in solidarity as his legal victory is for everyone in the Teaching Hospital.
The Head of Account Department, Mr. Okechukwu Nworie recalled that the publication made by ThisDay on May, 2022 against the Chief Medical Director was an act of mischief-making targeted towards the erosion of the personality and integrity of the Chief Medical Director who has brought a lot of transformation to the Teaching Hospital.
According to Nworie, within a period of one year in office, Dr. Akabuike built Dialysis Centre, Consultants’ Lounge, digitalised the hospital, installed solar system, and so on.
# The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has reaffirmed that the 8th Assembly remains committed to the development and progress of the state.
The Speaker gave the assurance during a special thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral Church of St. Faith, Awka to mark the second anniversary of the 8th Assembly which was attended by lawmakers, government functionaries, and other dignitaries.
Udeze expressed gratitude to God for a remarkable two years in office, describing it as the first time in the history of the Assembly that such synergy and commitment towards the progress of Anambra State has been witnessed.
He commended his fellow lawmakers for their dedication and sleepless nights in ensuring quality representation and impactful legislation while lauding Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his visionary leadership, noting that development is ongoing across all constituencies in the state.
# Umunnachi community in Dunukofia LGA, has expressed their support for Sir Paul Chukwuma, the Young Progressive Party, YPP candidate, and his deputy, Uzu Okagbue, in the November 8, Anambra State Governorship election.
This support expressed by the community came as Uzu Okagbue, informed them that he is on the ticket of the YPP with Sir Paul Chukwuma, the party’s candidate.
The event which was held at the civic centre of Umunnachi was well-attended by Ndi Ichie Umunnachi, including Ichie Okpala and others, Umunnachi Improvement Union leaders, Umunnachi Women Union, Ndi Nze Umunnachi, Iyom Society Umunnachi led by their leader, Chief Mrs. Ngozika Njelita, and the Umueze dance troupe, among many others.
Speaking, Uzu Okagbue, the YPP deputy governorship candidate said he came to formally inform the community that he is on the ballot as Sir Paul Chukwuma’s running mate in the YPP, for the November 8 Anambra State Governorship Election.
# The Mayor of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba has officially inducted Agunechemba Finance and Management Security Team Abagana with a charge to ensure robust operation of local policing.
The event which was held at Abagana town’s Secretariat had the presence of security agencies, Community leadership, and government personnel.
In his speech, The Mayor of Njikoka, Hon. Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba noted that he was passionate about the security of Njikoka and that was exactly what motivated the security team induction.
Hon. Ononiba noted that the idea was in line with the state government security program of zero crime initiative. He stated that the idea was to consolidate and sustain state government efforts in building a formidable security, where every citizen can live safely.
