* The Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme stated that the development masterplan of Anambra State Government will guarantee economic prosperity to Ndi Anambra. Ofodeme assured that the Eighth Assembly under the leadership of Udeze will work as a team to meet the aspirations and yearnings of the thirty constituencies in the state and the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

* Contrary to rumours of widespread business closure in some towns, owners of filling stations in Anambra State have reiterated their support for the state government. Describing the report as a sheer imagination of rumour mongers, Chairman of Independent Petroleum Association of Nigeria (IPMAN)’s Enugu Depot, Mr. Chinedu Anyaso said their members opened for business as usual without any incident. He also said that there was no plan for strike by IPMAN members in the state.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon.(Mrs) Amaka Obi on Saturday June 17 embarked on phase 4 of Sustainable, Clean and Green Program (CGP) which started from the local government secretariat Ojoto, down to all the seven communities in Idemili South.

* The Bishop on The Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo has said that democracy is about good leadership and followership. The bishop in an interview with journalists said that in John 21 verse 15, God commanded Peter to feed his lambs, explaining that Peter represents the apostles, Christians and leaders across the world while the lambs and sheep cover all that live on earth, and noted that God blessed Nigeria with natural resources which those in authority will use to feed the lambs by ensuring provision of basic amenities for the people.

* Anambra School Sports Festival scheduled to hold between June 21 and June 24 2023 will have no fewer than 2,000 students across the 21 Local Governments competing in the state finals. Chairman of Anambra Sports Development Commission, Hon. Patrick-Estate Onyedum said this after a meeting of the Main Organising Committee and Local Government Sports Officers. Onyedum who commended all the field men for their commitment to excellence described the level of competition among the students as high and expository.

* Anambra has emerged the first placed state from Nigeria in the 2023 edition of African mathematics Olympiad. The event is an annual mathematics championship organised for students of basic and secondary schools in Africa.The result was announced in a release issued recently. Anambra carted best Nigerian prize by winning 24 gold, 20 silver and 33 bronze to win a total of 77 medals in the overall table.

* The member representing Orumba South Constituency at the Anambra state house of assembly Hon Emma Nwafor has commended the peaceful inauguration of the eight Assembly and expressed his commitment to work with the leadership of the House to fasttrack accelerated development of the state. The lawmaker commended the distribution of one hundred and seventy thousand coconut seedlings and five hundred thousand palm seedlings across the twenty-one Local government areas of Anambra State by the Soludo administration. He maintained that the exercise would cushion the effect of poverty, help to revamp the oil and coconut palm economy as well as checkmate erosion menace.

* The All Nigeria Confederation Of Principals Of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, Anambra State branch has held its 2023 State Congress with a charge on the principals to bring back the virtues for which they are known for and hand it over to the next generation. The State Congress held at Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, attracted principals and education officers from across the state. The conference was declared open by the chairman Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu who asked the principals to always bear in mind that they are at the centre of learning activities in schools and as such, should always strive to create cordial relationship between them and their staff to ensure high productivity in the staff.

* Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) has meet with stackholders and enterpreneurs operating in the recycling value chain. Anambra State Waste Recyclers Association Chairman, Pastor Ben Agape in an interveiw after the meeting held at ASWAMA office in Awka on Friday, said the essence of the meeting is to inter-face and discusson the way forward.

* Sunday Ogbuo, a native of Umuochuba Agba, Ekwulobia, in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, has reportedly forgotten the way to his hometown, after spending decades in the facility of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

A video currently trending on the social media shows the Mr. Ogbuo, as he was being interviewed by some individuals who spotted him looking stranded at a junction in Imo State after being released from the prison.
