* The Transition Committee Chairman for Orumba South Local Government Area, Prince Neville Uchendu has assured Governor Chukwuma Soludo that many well-meaning citizens of Orumba South are ready to support his local investment agenda to improve the production capacity of the state as well as the revenue profile of the government. Speaking at Umunze during a facility tour of Bonjuk Food and Beverages Company Limited Umunze, Prince Uchendu commended the efforts of the Chairman of the Company.

* The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese,  Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim PhD has announced the burial programmes of the late Dean, Church of Nigeria, Anglican communion, Late Most Reverend Maxwell Samuel Chukwunweike Anikwenwa. A statement released by the Anikwenwa family jointly signed by the Archbishop Province of the Niger & Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Alexander C. Ibezim Ph.D., Chairman planning committee of the burial, Dr. Emma Ezenwaji, and Ven. Uche Anikwenwa for the Family said the obsequies for Anikwenwa began with an evening of tributes which at the National Christian Centre Central Business District, Abuja Tuesday June 13 by 5pm,  and at Paul University, Awka on Tuesday, June 27 at 11 am.

* At a public lecture to commemorate 2023 World Day Against Child Labour, stakeholders called for collective actions against unfair treatment on any child under one’s care. The event, organized for women leaders from communities across the state by the Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare; in collaboration with a non-governmental organization, Bee Charity Outlook Foundation, had as its theme, “Social justice for all, End child labour,”

* The Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Anambra State Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye has urged Ndi Anambra to maximize the opportunities in coconut and palm seedlings distributed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo across the twenty-one Local government areas in the state in order to reap its economic benefits. Chief Obi-Okoye made the call in Awka while commenting on the second phase of the project. He explained that the five hundred thousand palm oil seedlings, one hundred and seventy thousand coconut seedlings distributed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo will boost the economy and rejuvenate the culture of coconut plantation in every family compound.

* In furtherance of efforts by the Federal Government to scale up surveillance and protect school children through the successful launch of National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre, domiciled at the NSCDC Headquarters Abuja, and the need to establish school safety and security response team (SSSRT) in all schools across the country, the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Mr. Edwin Osuala recently paid a visit to the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh and the Ag. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.

* The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, has urged the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command to also find means to educate and orientate motorists and motorcyclists in the State, rather than just apprehending and punishing the defaulters of road traffic rules.
NUJ gave the advice during their monthly Congress for the month of June, 2023, which held at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, NUJ Secretariat, Awka, Anambra State capital.

* The Chairperson of Anambra State Albinism Association, Comrade Vivian Ezeonwumelu said that Albinism is a genetic condition that affects the production of melanin – the pigment that gives color to the hair, skin and eyes, stating that people with Albinism have little or no melanin which makes them vulnerable to sunburn, skin cancer and vision problem. Ezeonwumelu while speaking in Awka recently, appealed to the government to make policies that will guarantee the inclusion, acceptance, and give equal opportunities to people with albinism.

* The Member Representing Ihiala Federal Constituency Rt. Hon. Pascal Agbodike has called on the federal govenment to intervene and treat Ihiala as a special local government that should be paid attention too especially on insecurity. Agbodike while speaking to reporters in Awka on Sunday lamented stating that the level of insecurity in Ihiala local government is hitting the roof.

* The Department of Family Medicine, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi in conjunction with the hospital has given free medical services to the people of Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area. The free medical exercise was held at Comprehensive Health Centre, Umunya. The services rendered by the Department include health promotions, free screening for common ailments, free eye care services and free medical consultations among others.
