* All the residents of Anambra State has been informed that the usual monthly environmental Sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday June 24th 2023. In a release signed by Mr Mike Ozoemena, MD/CEO ASWAMA, The exercise will hold simultaneously in all the communities in Anambra State within the hours of 7am – 10am, and no form of vehicular or human movement will be tolerated within these hours.
* A resident of Anambra State, Mr Nonso Oguno has lamented the activities of members of Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency saying they were giving Governor Chukwuma Soludo a bad name. Oguno, a resident of Awka said the activities of members of the enforcement arm of the agency was constituting nuisance, adding that it was high time the people resisted them. He said the condition was made even worse because the governor recruited touts into the agency, hoping that this would rid the state of touts, but the activities of the touts within the agency had gotten out of hand.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Hon. Ogo Ekwueme, led a delegation of Nanka Community to the Anambra State Ministry of Education requesting for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s approval to convert the Community Secondary School in the community to Government Technical College. The proposed College is expected to serve the 16 communities of Orumba North, Umuona, Isuofia and Ekwulobia in Aguata, and Agulu and Aguluzigbo in Anaocha Local Government Areas of the state.
* All is set for the maiden edition of the Anambra State All Stars league. The novel project put together by the state FA Chairman, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi attracted about 24 clubs to contest for honour. Opening ceremony of the event will hold on 25th June, 2023 at the Awka City Stadium by 3pm. A lot of notable football stakeholders have added their voices in support of the league that will add beautiful colors to the commendable football developlopment strides of the current FA in the state.
* Anambra State Police command has called on proprietors of private hospitals and managers of public health facilities to help them to arrest fleeing gunmen, who escaped with bullet injury after an encounter with security operatives.
ANN learnt that on Monday morning, some heavily armed gunmen ambushed operatives of the Anambra Vigilante Group in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, but were repelled.
* The Anambra State Commissioner for Health; Dr. Afam Ben Obidike has inspected the reconstruction of Umueri General Hospital. He also went round to check medical officers who are on duty. Obidike reiterated the commitment of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in repositioning the healthcare system across the state while appealing to health workers at various Government Health Facilities to be committed in discharging their duties.
* Encomiums were showered on the Anambra State governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo over his outstanding performance in office. It was praise galore for the Anambra State number one man at the expanded meeting of Soludo Solution Movement (SMN) which took place in Awka. The Convener of SSM, Chief Jude Umunnakwe in his opening remarks commended the commitment of the members to the administration of the day.
He noted that the commitment is not misplaced as the governor in just one year in office has performed better than his predecessors.
* A member representing Ayamelum Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Bernard Udemezue, has pledged total support to the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, for a prosperous and livable homeland. Udemezue, who was elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the March 11 State Assembly Election, made the pledge while speaking with newsmen in Awka. While appreciating his constituents for choosing him to serve them, Udemezue assured Ayamelum people of quality, pragmatic and effective representation, saying that he had begun to implement his manifesto for them, even before the inauguration.
* The member representing Awka South 1 Constituency at Anambra assembly Hon. Henry Chidimma Mbachu has pledged to be accountable to his people and carry everybody along in the course of representing them.
Mbachu who is one of the seven members elected on the platform of Labour Party in Anambra State said he will start where his predecessor stopped and will carry his people along because people misrepresent lawmakers when they are not carried along, especially in executing projects for which Constituency fund is allocated.
* A lecturer in the Department of Archeology and Tourism, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Dr Kingsley Chinedu Daraojimba, has engaged the people and secondary school students in Igbo-Ukwu, in Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, in a capacity-building exhibition and workshop on Igbo-Ukwu artifacts, to enable them to understand better and harness the rich cultural heritage.
