* Eight teams have progressed to the semifinal stage of the volleyball event at the ongoing Anambra school sports festival. The team emerged at the close of the round rubbing series played at the Alex Ekwueme Square Volleyball Court in Awka. Community Secondary School Isuofia will square up against Holy Child Secondary, Isuofia in the first semi final in the male category while Washington Memorial, Onitsha will contest with Bubendorf Memorial, Adazi-Ani for the second place in the male final.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has advised Ndi Anambra residing in Lagos that investing in the State will be in their own best interest. Soludo made the appeal during a town hall meeting with Ndi Anambra based in Lagos on Thursday. The Governor while enumerating some of the progress made so far by his administration after a year in office stated that the menace of killings and kidnapping has drastically reduced to the barest minimum with the security architecture put in place by his government.
* Orumba South Council Hall and an ultramodern canteen, reconstructed and renovated by the Transition Committee Chairman, Prince Neville Uchendu, have been unveiled. The unveiling of the buildings at the council secretariat Umunze also had many APGA stalwarts, who defected to other political parties, welcomed back to APGA.
* Ndi Amanuke, a Community in Awka North LGA of Anambra State erupted into jubilation as Chief Denis Ezebuilo was granted bail by State High Court Awka. Ezebuilo, one of the claimants to the traditional ruler’s stool of Amanuke Community, was remanded on 15th June 2023 for not appearing in the case between him and Inspector General of Police bordering on Ezeship tussle in his Community since 2022. Anambra State High Court presided by Justice Charles Okaa granted the Abuja based businessman Chief Denis Ezebuilo bail at the sum of N10 millions and two sureties.
* The announcement of fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government which immediately triggered a hike in the prices of petroleum products with its ripple effects on other facets of the country’s economy has hit hard on traders. The situation at Eke Awka Market in the capital city of Awka is not different as the traders are lamenting the effects of the development. The traders and customers alike are groaning over the cost of transport fare, goods and services,
* The Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji has charged the National Youth Council of Nigerian to always carry youths in rural areas along in their programmes. The Commissioner gave the charge when the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigerian Anambra State chapter paid him a visit in his office in Awka. While describing the youths as the leaders of today, Onyenji urged them to always organize skill acquisition trainings to channel the youths in the right path and check their excesses.
* Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has appealed to Christians to continue to pray and support the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Ibezim made the call when he visited Love Ambassadors Ministries, Ifite-Awka. Ibezim, who described church as one of the major pillars of the society, explained that the government needs the prayers of the church to succeed and deliver on its mandate.
* The Anambra State Local Government Service Commission has concluded the Verification and Biometric physical capturing of staff in the Unified twenty one Local Government Councils of Anambra State. The Verification and Biometric Physical Capturing exercise which lasted for seven weeks was concluded with a mop-up session at the Local Government Service Commission with over four thousand Staff in the Unified Anambra State Local Government Service Commission physically verified and Biometrically captured.
The Chairman, Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Barrister, Vin Ezeaka while addressing the Verification team and some principal officers in the Commission Chamber Awka, expressed satisfaction with the exercise so far and charged the officers to commence immediate Staff Certificate and Career progression Verification from officers on Grade Level Fifteen and below.
* The member representing Oyi constituency at the Anambra state house of assembly Hon. Innocent Ojike has empowermented 20 constituents with 20 shuttle buses on his first day in office. Ojicam who moved straight to Oyi local government secretariat field venue for the empowerment immediately after their swearing in and inauguration at Awka, said that it’s his desire to better the lives through his legislative agenda. While thanking ndi Oyi for the mandate given to him, Hon Innocent Ojike in a special mention, appreciated Chief Ifeanyi Anachuna for his support towards his project before, during and after the election.
