* The President, Mother’s Union, Women’s Guild and Girl’s Guild, Province of the Niger, Dr. Mrs Martha Ibezim says corruption by the leadership class of the country has marred individual efforts geared towards the growth and development of the nation. Ibezim stated this in her address to the 2024 Awka Diocesan Women’s Confrence, ADWOC, hold at Holy Trinity Church, Nibo in Awka South Council Area. Dr. Mrs Ibezim who is also the President Women’s Ministry and Young Wives Association of the Diocese of Awka, is the President of the confrence which has the theme: ‘I will Not Let You Go Unless You Bless Me’.

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze says their is need to develop resources and policies to empower widows and allow them to have unhindered coexistence. In his goodwill message to widows on behalf of the State Legislature, made available by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Emma Madu, Rt. Hon. Udeze called on Legislative Institutions in the country to enact laws that will guarantee full protection, well-being and rights of widows. The Speaker who commended the United Nations for dedicating a day to widows which enhances awareness of their challenges, thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the wife,Nonye for ensuring that issues concerning women especially widows are given priority attention towards provision of a better life for them.

* The Vice Chancellor, Peter University, Achina, Rev. Fr. Prof. Emmanuel Umezinwa has called on musicians of Igbo extraction to promote Igbo language through folk musics to save it from extinction. The Vice Chancellor made the call at a music seminar held at the Headquarters of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Awka organised by Libra Entertainment in collaboration with Anambra State Ministry of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism and Rotary International zone 38 to mark the 2024 World Music Day celebration. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Umezinwa who spoke on the “Importance of music to humanity and commerce”, explained that World Music Day is aim at promoting music by encouraging professional musicians and unprofessional ones to play music in public and private arenas as music is a universal language of the soul.

* The Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi has revealed that the eleven new laws signed recently will strengthen the vision of transforming the state into livable and prosperous homeland. According to Mr. Ezeajughi, some of the laws will assist in addressing some of the infrastructural and systemic challenges facing the state while stating that the present administration is one that respects the rule of law and procedures and pointed out that in no distant time, Anambra will become a reference in all sectors of the economy.

* The new Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Chief Ifeanyi Chinweze has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his numerous developmental strides and socio-economic development in the state. Speaking to newsmen immediately after his confirmation by the Anambra State House of Assembly in Awka, Chief Chinweze appreciated God and Governor Chukwuma Soludo for giving him the opportunity to serve Ndi Anambra East in that capacity and appreciated all those who contributed in one way or the other in making the exercise hitch-free. He commended Governor Soludo for his giant strides in the areas of road infrastructure, healthcare delivery, youth empowerment, security, agricultural revolution, commerce and industry among others.

* Youths of Nnobi community in Idemili South Local Government Area have appealed to the Anambra State Government to intervene in the leadership tussle. The youths made their appeal when they held a peaceful demonstration at the Government House, Awka to register their grievance over the tussle in the community.

The youths bore placards with inscriptions such as “Nnobi Peace Committee is fraud”, “PG and his Cronies should not sell Nnobi cheap to anyone or persons” , “State govt should investigate Nnobi PG, among others.”. Speaking during the demonstration, the leader of the group, Mr. Emeka Ezeh frowned at the leadership of the town and accused it of dividing the peace loving people of Nnobi.
Mr. Eze expressed dismay at the operation of town union who has continuously undermined and humiliated the peace committee in the town, which he said points to the fact that they are against the peace and progress of the community and Anambra in general.

* The new Transition Committee Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Okafor says that the council area will be positioned to key fully into Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision for a smart mega city state. Prince Okafor stated this shortly after his confirmation by the Anambra State House of Assembly in Awka, saying that his appointment as the council chairman will see that the council shares the vision and mission of Governor Soludo in human capital development and social agenda.

* Africa Illustrious Award has honoured the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr Nelson Omenugha, KSJI, with Distinguished Southeast Youth Leader Award. Dr Omenugha, after receiving the award at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos expressed his deepest gratitude to Africa Illustrious Award for the recognition and assured to commit more to youth mentorship and development. He noted that his principal, Governor Chukwuma Soludo CFR, is very intentional about building a great future for Anambra youths and also to prepare them to lead the future.

* The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim has been honoured with an award of excellence by the Scout Council. Presenting the award to Dr. Ibezim on behalf of the Nigeria Scout Council, Prince Levi Ezeudogu said the award was given to the Deputy Governor in recognition of his support.
Ezeudogu expressed delight over the second position gotten by Anambra state during the competition and expressed optimism of taking the first position next year.

* Anambra State Ministry of Environment has continued to take more steps to mitigate climate change and environmental degradation as they plant more trees along Port Harcourt Road Onitsha on Saturday June 22, 2024. In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu underscores the need for tree planting as it helps to mitigate climate change through its natural roles in carbon sequestration, wind-breaking, prevention of soil erosion, provision of shelter, maintenance of sustainable biodiversity as well as air purification among others.
According to Odimegwu, the present government has changed the narrative in Onitsha as the city is presently one of the cleanest in the country contrary to what was obtainable in the past, highlighting that the tree planting initiative is to complement the good road network already provided.
