* Anambra State Police Command says they are aware of the information on X social media platform of the alleged extortion of the sum of Eight hundred and Ten thousand Naira only by a yet to be identified officer of the Command and has initiated steps to identify the alleged officer. According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State, The Command also wishes to invite the victim to come to Police Command Headquarters, Awka at the Police Public Relations Office to help us with more information that will help in facilitating the necessary procedures involved in the process.

* Following the recent cholera outbreak in some parts of the country, Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has urged households, schools and caretakers of public places to stay cautious and immediately apply preventive routines to check the escalation of the disease. Mrs Soludo who made this known in a statement she released in Awka, noted that with Anambra State among the thirty-one states reported to be dealing with the current outbreak, it is essential to begin to apply stringent preventive measure to avoid the fast spread of the water-borne sickness. She said that the measure attention should be on protecting children and pregnant women, and appealed to households, schools and public environments to monitor the drinking water available to people and ensure that it is safe and healthy.

* Hon. Patrick Estate Onyedum, Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC) has eulogized Jordan Nwora Foundation for giving back to the society. The Anambra Sports boss commended the Nwora family for their consideration in bringing the camp to Awka as a way to reach out to other youths in the state who are talented and nursing the dream of being professional sports icon by playing the game of basketball. Onyedum promised that in subsequent editions the support for the noble project will be enhanced in the quest for empowering the youths of the state and in furtherance promoting sports growth and development in the state.

* Anambra State Government has expressed displeasure over the sealing of some importers’ businesses and warehouses in the state for almost a month by some agents without proof of wrongdoing and has therefore issued a Notice of Advise to all importers/industries in the state in that regard. This was contained in a Public Notice and signed by the state’s Commissioner for Industry, Christian C. Udechukwu.

* Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has emerge as Vice Chairman of Southern Governors’ Forum. The governor was elected into the new position after at the Forum’s meeting held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The Southern Governors’ Forum is the umbrella union of all governors from the southern part of Nigeria, including south east, south south, and southwest.

* A Corps member serving in the Community Secondary School, Igbaku, Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mr. Charles Akhabua has reconstructed a five room water closet toilet as his personal community development project. The Delta State born Corps member said he was motivated to embark on the project because the existing one in the school was dilapidated and abandoned resulting in students using the open space as an alternative for easing themselves. Akhabua thanked the Principal of the school, community leaders and other philanthropists for funding the project.

* The government of Anambra state has presented a formal appointment letter to ex-tennis star, Ms. Tania Okpala, to serve as a Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Works. Ms. Okpala received her letter after a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Enerst Ezeajughi, at his office in Awka. The appointment letter, which took effect from June 1, 2024, would be valid through the period of the present administration. Tania is expected to also engage in social education, counselling, and other activities that will be beneficial to the young population who need primary guidance.

* Jordan Nwora Foundation has been praised by Sports enthusiasts in Anambra state and beyond for sustaining the tempo of the novel Elite Basketball Camp initiative and holding the fourth edition of the camp in Awka, the administrative capital of Anambra State. The Jordan Nwora Foundation Elite Basketball Camp for Boys and Girls which is its fourth edition was held at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka from Friday, 21st to Sunday, 23rd June, 2024 with over 100 student-athletes featuring in the sporting program aimed at enhancing their playing skills for the game of basketball. The Chief of Staff to the Anambra State Government, Chief Ernest Ezeajughi in his remarks during his visit to the camp
commended Jordan Nwora Foundation for instituting the programme aimed at empowering the youths of the state through sports which is in line with the philosophy of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration of “One Youth Two Skills”.

* As the build-up of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State continues to gather momentum, the Soludo Support Group has concluded arrangements to launch a campaign theme and new uniform. The event which will take place on Thursday, 27th June, 2024, in Awka the state capital, aimed at demonstrating the group’s readiness, commitment and support for actualization of Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s second term ambition.

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s election as the Vice- Chairman of Southern Governors’ Forum as meritorious, thoughtful and expected in view of his accomplishments in governance and experience in public administration. In a congratulatory message on behalf of the State Legislature, made available by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Emma Madu, Rt.Hon.Udeze noted that Governor Soludo’s introduction of positive novelties in governance especially on development, sustainable economic growth and government of inclusiveness are some of the considerations that earned him the position. The Speaker revealed that Governor Soludo has since his election as Governor of Anambra State for over two years now, continued to spice the Nigeria Governors’ Forum with his sound economic experience which inspired the Southern Governors to elect him as the Vice- Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum in order to continue to tap from his economic prowess to drive the economy of the Region effectively.
