* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has expressed its desire to enter into a strategic partnership with the Electronics Development Institute (ELDI) under the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure ( NASENI) to enhance security and protection of critical infrastructure in the state. The partnership was formalized on Wednesday 26, June 2024 when the State Commandant, Comdt. Maku Olatunde received on a courtesy visit the management of the Institute led by the Acting Managing Director, Engr. Dr. Ogungberno Oluwaseyi. Olatunde while speaking said the collaboration aims to leverage ELDI’s expertise in electronics and technology to improve NSCDC’s surveillance and response capabilities, particularly in the areas of Counter-terrorism, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Protection and Intelligence gathering.

* Anambra State Government has reiterated its commitment in ensuring that the state’s natural deposits are brought to limelight in order to improve the revenue generation of the state. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra State Solid Mineral Development Company Limited, Prof. Charles Ofoegbu said this while briefing newsmen on the importance of glass sand in the production of various glass products like bottles, mirrors, electrical insulation, pipe, chemical apparatus and optical instruments. Ofoegbu noted that Anambra State is blessed with abundant mineral resources, which are from time immemorial formed the backbone of the state’s economic and industrial development with huge and high quality deposits of glass sands.

* The Anambra State Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) in collaboration with Police has launched a sensitization campaign for Tricycle riders and traders. During the campaign, Tricycle riders and street traders were advised to use designated parks and market for loading and unloading passengers and buying and selling respectively, instead of conducting their business in the area that housed the State Assembly Complex, Government House, State and Federal Secretariat, and the Federal High Court.
Addressing Journalists in Awka, during the sensitization exercise, the Anambra State Police Command through her representative, Mr. Vena Leelea, a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) B division warned drivers against the blockage of roads at Aroma and other places in the state. He advised the group on the importance of maintaining law and order in the state capital while conducting their transportation business.

* The Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Comdt. Maku Olatunde has pledged to support the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) in performing its statutorily responsibility of regulating and controlling the pharmaceutical practices in the state.
Comdt. Maku stated this in Awka when he received in audience the Anambra State Pharmaceutical Inspection Committee (PIC) and Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors Licence committee (PPMVL) on a courtesy visit at the Command Headquarters Awka. The PCN team, led by Pharm. Madike Obum, Chairman Pharmaceutical Inspection Committee, informed the Anambra NSCDC Commandant and other very senior officers of the need to explore areas of mutual interest and cooperation between the two agencies.

* The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam charges Police Officer Wives to be a good Ambassador of the Police and pledges to help in actualizing the association’s mandate. The CP made this remark on Wednesday 26 June 2024 in his office at Police Headquarters, Awka during a courtesy visit by the Police Officers Wives Association, Anambra State Chapter on the Police Command. The POWA Members led by Mrs. Favour Joan Nnaghe prayed for the Command and intimated the Management team, plans to construct a POWA Hospital and shopping plaza which after completion shall assist both the Police Families and Ndi Anambra towards accessing quality and affordable health care and business facility.

* The Ministry of Youth Development, Anambra State has commenced the revalidation exercise for business owners and training institutes that applied to serve as master training centers in the second batch of 1Youth 2 Skills programme. The exercise, which is scheduled to run from Monday 24th June to Thursday 27th June, 2024, will be used to assess the current status of 2000 training centers, that were successful in the first phase of the screening exercise conducted in November, 2023 for over 8000 training centers that applied. The revalidation focuses on the areas of existing equipment, size of facility, application of digital technology and level of experience in business management as well as training.

* The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has refuted total involvement from the purported court case against the former Anambra State, His Exellency, Chief Willie Obiano. Spokesperson for IPOB, Comrade Emma Powerful disclosed this on Wednesday, 26th, June, 2024 in a press statement. According to Comr Powerful, “The noble family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by the great and indefatigable leader Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu disassociate ourselves from the purported court case against the former Anambra Statefrom the purported court case against the former Anambra State Governor, Willy Obiano in the United State of America by the acclaimed IPOB members”.

* Woliwo Community welfare Association members, Onitsha South Local Government Council are appealing to Anambra state Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to include the community in the infrastructural Development of Anambra state. According to members of the Woliwo Community, during a meeting of stakeholders in the area, who noted that neighboring areas like okpoko and Fegge, are now wearing a new look with hospitals, street light and good roads, while Woliwo seems to be neglected, despite the fact that the area is densely populated with the highest number of voters in the entire Onitsha south Local government area.

decorated three senior Police officers who were promoted from Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs). ACP. Rabiu Garba, ACP. Ngozi Nwokama, and ACP Lucky Seibai were decorated in an event held at the Zonal Headquarters in Ukpo. Aghaulor after decorating the officers reminded them of the increased levels of responsibility that come with their new ranks. He encouraged them to exhibit higher wisdom in their actions and decision-making processes as they lead their subordinates.

* Anambra Hovernor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has asked parents and community leaders to take the ongoing campaign against drug abuse and Illicit trafficking in Anambra State as a personal responsibility to safeguard the future of the state. Mrs Soludo stated this at Oyi Local Government Area headquarters, Nteje, during an event to mark this year’s International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Mrs Soludo, who addressing the theme of this year’s celebration, “the evidence is clear: invest in prevention,” said the scary statistics of people who are into drug abuse in Nigeria should worry anyone who cares about tomorrow’s generation.
