* The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, has reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to respecting and protecting human rights in the course of its operations. Comdt. Maku made this declaration recently when he received a delegation from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) led by Barr. Obinna Maduforo, the Anambra State Coordinator, at the State Command Headquarters in Awka. The NSCDC State Commandant emphasized that the Corps recognizes the importance of upholding the fundamental rights of all citizens, including the right to life, dignity, and freedom from discrimination and harassment. He assured that the Corps operates within the ambit of the rule of law in discharging its statutory responsibilities and adheres to the highest standards of human rights.

* Anambra State Government has constituted committees to ensure effective distribution of no fewer than one million combination of seedlings to potential beneficiaries across the state.
Commissioner For Agriculture, Dr Forster Ihejiofor stated this at a 1-day consultative meeting by the Ministry in collaboration with Office of Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters with key stakeholders held at the Ministryā€™s Conference Hall. The meeting was centred on modalities for year 2024 distribution of economic trees/seedlings which comprised of 700,000 Oil palm seedlings, 200,000 breadfruit seedlings, 50,000 Oji Igbo (Kola nut), 50,000 Akiilu (Bitter Kola) and 40,000 paw paw.

* Anambra State government through the Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, Task Force Team has arrested six persons operating a suspected fake drug production factory. The factory which was uncovered in Umuoji, Idemili North Council Area was sealed during the raid and the arrest of the owner of the factory, one Mrs. Chinwedu Chukwurah. The owner of factory, Mrs. Chukwurah was apprehended for ā€œmanufacturing, packaging, distributing, and selling a range of substandard and counterfeit paracetamol and flagyl products”. Reacting to the development, the Managing Director of OCHA brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere said that the agency while carrying out their daily routine stumbled on the fake drug factory and upon investigation found out that the company has existed for years and has been selling the fake drugs across the state.

* The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnameka Achebe, former Aviation Minister, Chief Osita Chidoka, the Anglican Bishop on the Niger, Rt Rev. Bishop Nwokolo have charged the pioneer students of the University on the Niger to avail themselves of the opportunity provided them in the university to prepare or contemporary challenges. The personalities who also included the former Minister of Power and Vice Chancellor, Prof Chinedu Nebo, spoke during the maiden matriculation ceremony of the University on the Niger, UmunyaĀ  held at CJ Patterson Auditorium, All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, Anambra State.

* The Commissioner for Health, Anambra State Dr. Afam Obidike has emphasized on the importance of early detection and prevention in managing Cholera outbreaks. The Commissioner while addressing the media in his office at the Jerome Udorji State Secretariat in Awka, disclosed that Anambra is yet to report any case of cholera, said that the emergency response teams are actively conducting surveillance in all the Local Government Areas to promptly identify and contain any potential case.

He revealed that public education campaigns are also underway to raise awareness about cholera and emphasized preventive measures within communities.

* The National President, Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Barrister Titus Akpudo, has commended the state government for its efforts to ensure that there is peace in Anambra communities, particularly in Eziowelle, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Akpudo also extended his commendations to the Commissioner for Local Governments, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, for delivering the state government agenda of peace in the community. These commendations are coming in reaction to a recent publication by some people from Eziowelle, in which they accused the Local Goverment Commissioner of bias in handling the affairs of the community, especially with regards to the town union election scheduled to hold on the 29th of June, 2024.

* The President, Anambra Mandate for Good Governance, Chief Emmanuel Oguguo says Governor Chukwuma Soludo has done tremendously well both in human and infrastructural development of the State. Oguguo, while answering questions from newsmen in Awka, noted that the administration of Governor Soludo has lived up to expectations in terms of delivering dividends of democracy within his two years in office.
He explained that Anambra Mandate for Good Governance is committed to supporting and championing the campaign for good governance in Anambra, which the present administration in the State is diligently giving to the residents of the State.

* The Chairman of National Association Of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Anambra State Council, Comrade Onwuka Edith, made history as a well built and furnished Nurses House was unveiled under her leadership. In her address of welcome, Comrade Onwuka said that National association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives is a professional organization cum trade union registered under the trade union act of 1978 and has the mandate to unionize and enforce strict professionalism to all nurses registered with nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria (NMCN) who are practising in federal, state, local government and private sector.

* The Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese Right Reverend Prosper Amah says doing the Will of God comes with series of blessings and Mercy. In a sermon at Saint Johnā€™s Parish Ochuche during a service of confirmation and admission into Mothers Union and Girls Guild Bishop Amah maintained that following the commandments of God attracts honor from God and regretted that many people have disregarded the efficacy of prayer, ignoring the Godā€™s presence in their lives and called on such people to have a rethink. He charged Christians to always seek the presence of God in their lives like the Biblical David despite the challenges and attacks that might confront them.
