* The Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Vera Nwadinobi has emphasized the need to build valuable human resources through technology and skill driven basic education. Nwadinobi stated this during a media chat at the ASUBEB headquarters, Awka.
Nwadinobi who said that technology and skill are the major force driving the fourth industrial revolution noted that building human capital that are useful at home and exportable abroad is part of their key mandate.
* Anambra state Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim has reassured of the commitment of the state government towards partnering the church to ensure lasting development. Ibezim said that on inception, the present administration met a very challenging terrain but with the help of God, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has reshaped and developing all sectors simultaneously, calling on the support of the Church and Ndị Anambra to make the state a stronger and livable state of their own.
* In order to foster adequate security of lives and properties, the Vigilantes of Nnewi and Nnobi
communities are in partnership and have resolved to be working closely to keep their areas safe. Nnewi community and its close neighbour Nnobi has also warn landlord who accommodates persons of questionable character in their compound or house, as a matter of urgency, evict the tenants or report to the nearest vigilante or security office stating that failure to do so means that you they are a partner in crime and security agencies will treat will treat them as such in line with relevant laws.
* The Maiden Synod of the Methodist Diocese of Nnewi has ended with a call on the delegates and Christians worldwide to defend and be true soldiers of Jesus Christ on earth. The newly installed Methodist Bishop of Nnewi, the Right Reverend Emmanuel Nnaji gave the charge while delivering an address during the diocesan Synod at Wesley Cathedral Uruagu, Nnewi, Nnewi North council area.
* The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has tasked newly ordained ministers of God to proclaim the word and deed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, fashion their life in accordance with its precepts, declare God’s forgiveness to sinners, pronounce blessing and preside at the administration of holy baptism. Ibezim who is also the Archbishop, Province of the Niger ordained these ministers of God during a Trinity ordination service held at Saint Paul’s Parish, Umuokpu-Awka.
* Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Mbamara, a priest from the Nnewi Catholic Diocese who was abducted by gunmen on Friday night, has been released. ANN gathered that the Mbamara, who had been held captive for two days, was released on Sunday, according to the diocese’s chancellor, Rev. Fr. Raphael Edeogu
* The Anambra State Internal Revenue Service conducted personnel audit last weekend to check what it termed ghost workers earning free salaries without physical presence in the organisation. The staff audit which was conducted at the Revenue House Awka became pertinent with the exit of the former AIRS boss Mr. Richard Madiebo to ascertain the real and authentic workforce of the state revenue agency to avoid wastage of government meagre resources.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has directed all Primary School Heads in Anambra State to ensure the registration of all gifted children in their schools, for the 2023 Gifted Examination Into Junior Secondary School One of the Federal Government Academy for the Gifted and Talented Children, Suleja. The Governor gave the directive In Awka. Soludo spoke through the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh while welcoming a delegation of the National Examination Council NECO on a courtesy call.
* A professor of mass communication and former Commissioner for Basic Education in Anambra state, Prof Kate Omenugha, has opined that the on going fuel subsidy removal crises in the country could have been better handled and even averted if the President had displayed emotional intelligence and empathy in communication.
She gave the opinion while expousing the theme “Effective Communication as a tool for good governance, an Appraisal of the Fuel subsidy removal crises” on Political Heat, a Public Affairs program on Alpha Radio 106.5FM anchored by Emma Asiegbunam (Mr E on the Mic).
* History was made recently as the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka performed the ground breaking ceremony of her Golf Course named UNIZIK Octagon Twin-Lake Golf Course club located inside the University Premises close to Stanel World Awka. The 18-hole Golf Course is part of the vision of “Project 200” of the present administration under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS, towards projecting the University to limelight, encouraging the growth of the game of Golf in the state and unitying the town and gown through the beautiful game.
