* The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Barrister Sylvester Ezeokenwa has said that the newly commissioned regional headquarters of the party in Awka is another testament that APGA will last on Nigerian political stage longer than expected. Speaking in Awka, Ezeokenwa said the legacy project, in addition to APGA national office in Abuja, are proofs that APGA has come to stay in its service to the common man.

* Stakeholders from different sectors have called for judicial and other institutional reforms to facilitate the speedy dispensation of justice in the country’s judicial system. The call was made at a one-day workshop entitled: “The unconstitutionality of section 396(7) of the ACJA 2015, matters arising: Implications on the speedy dispensation of corruption cases,” organised by the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Anambra State branch in collaboration with MacArthur Foundation.

* The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, Anambra State has distributes
livelihood support to eight hundred and forty persons. The distribution exercise, which was carried out in Umueze-Anam, Umuenwelum, Ifite-Anam and Olumbanasa Communities, all in Anambra West Local Government Area, included Rice seeds, Potato stems, Groundnut, Pepper, Water melon seeds, and Cucumber while community stakeholders received fully constructed football goal post and volleyball court, Ncho, Footballs, Volleyball and whistle for their relaxation.

* The Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu has sought for the assistance of Presidents-general in tackling challenges confronting schools in their domains. Ikediugwu made the appeal to the Presidents General during the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, monthly meeting held at ASATU Hall, Awka,

* Flood from recent rains in Onitsha and environs has battered the drainage channel along Asaba-Onitsha high way by Ogbaru Relief Main Market, destroying the culvert that led into the market through the second gate. The havoc was so extensive that even the pedestrian bridge across the express is under threat. ANN gathered that the concrete slab has totally collapsed while the earth crust surrounding the gutters has been washed away.

* The Vicar Christ Redemption Church, Ezi-Awka, Venerable Onyinyechukwu Illione has called on Christians to be courageous and hold onto their faith to surmount all challenges and storms of life. He encouraged them not to fear, loose hope or be discouraged even in a moment like this in the country, assuring that God will see them through and called on those in the seat of power to listen to the yerning’s of the masses and do what is right.

* Traders at the Building Materials International Market Ogidi in Idemili-North council area of Anambra state have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the new national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Barr. Sylvester Ezeokenwa, saying that his ability and capacity to expand the frontiers and fortunes of APGA is not in doubt. The traders who declared their position on the new national leadership of APGA through the President-General of the market Chief Jude Nwankwo, maintained that Ezeokenwa is well rooted in the nation’s politics and equally has the requisite cognate experience to win more states for APGA in Nigeria.

* The Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese, in Anambra State, Rt Rev Ephraim Ikeakor, has expressed dissatisfaction with the Federal Government’s announcement of removal of oil subsidy describing it as ill timed. The cleric made this known during a press conference and inspection visit at St Philip Anglican Church Eziama Amichi, in Nnewi South LGA, venue of the forthcoming 3rd Session of the 5th Synod of the diocese.

* Rev Chijindu Anaejere has been collated and installed as statutory Canon of the Cathedral Church of Saint John Ekwulobia by the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor. Also, during the event which took place at the Cathedral Church of Saint John Ekwulobia, sixty-nine laity in Aguata Diocese were licenced and commissioned as lay readers.

* Anamba State Internal Revenue Service recently conducted personnel audit last weekend to check ghost workers earning free salaries without physical presence in the organisation.

* A team of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Anambra State Council led by the State President, Comrade Chikweli Adigwe has paid an official visit to Oyi council headquarters Nteje, for a spot check to ascertain the level of damages caused by thunderstorm which affected almost all the buildings in the area. Comrade Adigwe, who went round the headquarters with his entourage, called for an urgent renovation of the affected buildings to avoid further damages by rainfall.
