* The Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha local government area Chief Gerald Ozoh says Governor Chukwuma Soludo has within two years of his administration restored people’s confidence in governance. Speaking in his office at Neni on the two years in office of Governor Chukwuma Soludo coming up on Sunday March seventeenth, Chief Ozoh described the administration of Governor Soludo as one that has brought tremendous changes in terms of governance and infrastructural development which he noted has improved the living standards of the people. He stressed the need for the people to continue to be alive to their civic responsibilities especially in the area of prompt payment of tax and approved Government levies to enable the government to continue to serve them better.

* Contrary to security and media reports authenticating the fairness of the election of the President- General of Urum Town Union held on December 30th, 2023, the Anambra State Government has cancelled the poll. The different reports from the electoral committee set by the government, the security agencies including the DSS and the Nigerian Police as well as the reports by the media that monitored the election said the election of President General was conclusive with a winner announced but, the looser of the election allegedly connived with the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affiars, Hon TonyCollins Nwabunnwanne to scuttle the election when he canceled it almost 3 months after.

* Following the smashing of a notorious Kidnap Gang on the night of Friday 8th March, 2024 at Awgbu in Orumba North LGA, Police Operatives have intensified manhunt for the kidnappers who escaped from the scene of the shootout. According to a release from DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, while combing the sorrounding bushes on Saturday morning, Police and the Local Vigilante  recovered a loaded AK-47 Rifle with Double Magazines containing 50 Rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. The weapon was promptly rendered safe and taken into custody for further investigation. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, praised the diligence of the Joint Team and promised to reward it for its commitment to public safety.

* Professor Chukwuma Soludo has inaugurated 18 new Permanent Secretaries into Anambra State Civil Service. Soludo while performing the function at the Government House, Awka, asked the new Permanent Secretaries to be mindful of their oath of allegiance and stressed the importance of reading and meditating on it, working conscientiously, combating corruption, and upholding justice. Soludo congratulated the appointees on their merit-based appointment and emphasized the importance of their roles.

* The youth conference organized by the youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Anambra State chapter, held yesterday in Awka, Anambra State, saw the convergence of many leaders of the party as well as the youths of the party across the 326 wards, 21 Local Government Areas and the 3 Senatorial Zones of the state. The youth leaders also used the occasion to honor the Distinguished Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah among others. The youth conference which is the second of its kind attracted hundreds of young and energetic minds of the APC party who deliberated on the future of the party and renewed their commitment to the party. They also used the opportunity to set agenda for the youths of the party towards the success of the party in the coming Anambra state governorship election.

* The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr Nelson Omenugha, has offset the premium of the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, ASHIS for the 24 members of the executive committee of Nnobi Ward 1 of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA. The exercise took place at Dr Omenugha’s country home, Nnobi while hosting the Idemili South Local Government APGA executive members who came to Nnobi on a ward tour.

The occasion served multiple purposes as the ward executive members were officially sworn into office and over 20 new persons who were mostly youths inducted into the party.

* The Management of the Science, Awka, Anambra State (a HND-awarding higher institution), has reportedly barred the students of the school from using Android phones, among other restrictions recently placed on them. This is coming on the eve of another allegation that the Management of the mission school has also barred the students from greeting church members or exchanging pleasantries with them, especially when they attend church service. According to sources from the school who pleaded anonymity, the restrictions were announced to them by the Provost of the school owned by the Anglican Diocese of Awka, Mrs. Chisom Ezulike.

* A new world-class golf facility, Acropolis Golf Course, is set to be launched in Ihiala, Anambra State in April. Obioma Ogakwu, Facility Manager NestOil, who manages the project ,said the golf course would complement his company’s social investment in the South-East region of Nigeria, and help expand options for international tourists visiting Anambra.
The golf course, will be opened to the public from Friday, April 5th, with activities lined up till Sunday April 7th, 2024.
