* House of Representatives-elect and Deputy Speaker of the 7th legislature of Anambra state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Paschal Arinzechukwu Agbodike, has said that one of his primary concerns at the national assembly would be to prioritise security for Ihiala federal constituency.
Agbodike, who recently received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having won Ihiala federal constituency election landslide, said the most veritable panacea to addressing security issues was dialogue and that he has already commenced peace missions with stakeholders of Ihiala local government area in order to proffer lasting solutions to security issues as well as issues of infrastructural development in the area.
* An Industrialist, Mr Chukwunenye Maduka, has urged electorate in Awka South 2 State Constituency to queue behind the incumbent Lawmaker, Chief Chukwuma Okoye during the March 18th 2023 polls to enable him attract more democratic dividends for accelerated development. He stated that the Lawmaker had over the years demonstrated uncommon commitment towards uplifting better living condition of the constituents through infrastructure support services and human capital building measures. Speaking with newsmen at Ebeakpu Square, Amawbia, near Awka, during a political rally staged by Chief Okoye in continuation of his campaign tour to all the Wards in the Constituency, he reasoned that time had come for eligible voters to reciprocate the kind gesture of the legislator.
* Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Chief Emeka Orji has said that Anambra is an APGA state and for a state that has produced three governors that had two tenures of eight years each,one wonders how a political party that just emerged by chance would attempt to defeat APGA in an election that is the party’s election. Speaking in Awka, Orji said “For us in Onitsha South Local Government Area, it is 17/17 and thirty over thirty and that means that we are not losing any single electoral ward to any party because it is APGA all the way”
* The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu has been advised to honourably resign for failing the laws of the land which he made, propagated and preached. The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), Youth Wing, Anambra State Chapter, Kingsley Nwokoye gave the charge while speaking to reporters in Awka on the just concluded February 25 Presidential Election in Nigeria.
* The Anambra State branch of Association of Local Governments Of Nigeria (ALGON), has warned against plots to instigate fresh political crisis in the state. The body also described what it called campaign of calumny against the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), by the opposition Labour Party (LP), People Democratic Party (PDP) and the Young Progressive Party (YPP) ahead of the State Assembly election, saying that it was a show of negative desperation.
* The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Hon. ChuksBrown Igboanua has appealed to ndi Anambra and other residents of the State to vote for the candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the forthcoming House of Assembly election in Anambra state. Hon. Igboanua who made this appeal while speaking to newsmen in office in Ogidi, said APGA is the only political party in Nigeria that has a well thought-out ideology aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the downthroden and less privileged people in the society.
* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor have grant scholarship to two students of Angel Gabriel’s College, Okpuno. Emmanuella Ugochi and Rosaria Ifunanya Igboanugo became lucky beneficiaries of scholarship during the 9:00am Pontifical Mass, at St. Gabriel’s Parish, Okpuno, with many people in attendance, including parishioners, staff, students, parents and friends of the college.
* The APGA Flag-beaer for Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha Federal House Representatives in the just concluded election Hon. Sir Pete Ibida (Ide Nimo) has expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to his campaign. Ibida who is the Anambra State Chief Whip and Member representing Njikoka 2 Constituency stated that APGA’s victory on March 18th will enable Mr. Governor achieve a liveable and prosperous homeland.
* Electricity consumers in Onitsha, the Anambra State commercial hub, have decried what they describe as the continued crazy and outrageous bills from Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC). Speaking through the Human Rights Liberty Access and Peace Defenders’ Foundation (HURIDE), the consumers who addressed journalists after their general meeting in Onitsha and environs said they had been groaning under the ‘unabated EEDC outrageous bills without anything being done to address their plight’.
