* The member representing Anaocha one constituency Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi says
the Anambra State House of Assembly will continue to make laws and resolutions that will ensure more funding for the less Previledged and rural women as the world celebrates Interntional Women’s Day. Hon. Ogbuefi who is the Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, states this when they visited the Commissioner for Women Affairs Mrs. Ify Obinabo in Awka. According to the lawmaker, their is need for government to empower rural women especially the less previledged persons to become self reliant and contribute towards the development of the state.
* Heartland Football Club of Owerri are back to winning ways as they defeated Abia Warriors 2:0 at the Awka City Stadium in a tight Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week 25 oriental derby game. Goals from Okafor and Mgbememe in the 20th and 24th minutes were enough to give Heartland its first win in Awka. Speaking in an interview after the game, Coach of Heartland Mr. Christian Obi was full of joy and excitment stating that the jinx have been broken.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Mr. Chikodi Anarah has assured that the perpetrators of the act will be fished out and penalized. Anarah while reacting through a release to the viral video on the arrest and cruelty meted out to Wilfred Ezike, alias Mgbiligba, stated that though the victim in question is an unrepentant ex-convict whose persistent criminal enterprise has made some law-abiding Ndi Anambra miserable, the administration of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo still believes that he is entitled to the due process of the law.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has applaud Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the ongoing construction at Amansea/Awba Ofemili road and urge him to direct the commissioner for works to extend the construction to Umerum in Ayamelum LGA. Sponsor of the motion Hon. Abuchi Udemezue in his presentation stated that
there is an ongoing road constructions at Amansea/Awba Ofemili in Awka North local government and that extending it to Umerum, will be 15 minute drive to Awka the state capital from Ayamelum LGA. Udemezue who is the member representing Ayamelum constituency maintained that the economic potentials that will be realize by the state government, if Ayamelum LGA is connected to the state capital by Amansea/Awba Ofemili Road through Umerum as it will ease the cost of transporting agricultural goods and produce from Ayamelum LGA to Awka, the State Capital.
* The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has asked the Anambra State Government to stay away from the N4bn alleged security Vote theft suit against a former governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano. The ant-igraft agency said Anambra State Government was not a defendant in the trial o former governor Obiano, saying that the government’s appeal on the matter was inconsequential. Obiano had in a motion dated March 3 disclosed that the Anambra state government has filed an appeal challenging the authority of the EFCC to investigate and try him.
* Anambra State House of Assembly at plenary, unanimously congratulate Governor Chukwuma Soludo on the massive and unprecedented infrastructural development achieved so far as he clocks two years in office.
Sponsor of the motion Hon. Ejike Okechukwu in his submission stated that
on Sunday 17″ March, 2024, the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo will clock two years in office. Okechukwu who is the member representing Anaocha two constituency
said that at inception, Mr. Governor promised ndi Anambra that the resources of the State should be strictly used for the development of the State.
* The Executive Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Vera Nwadinobi, an associate professor, has debunked a media report about N6.7bn contract funds of the organization.
The media report had alleged that the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission( ICPC) and other graft agencies were investigating the matter. The report also alleged that there were no dues processes in awarding contracts in the ASUBEB. But in a swift reaction, Nwadinobi described the story as false, saying the money was intact in the bank.
* The Senator Representing Anambra South Senatorial District Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has received Miss Ifebube Chelsea Benson, who made Anambra State proud with an excellent performance in the 2023 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) organized by the National Examinations Council (NECO), in his office at the Nigerian National Assembly. Ubah, whose policy is to give the best to his constituency, was elated that such brilliant girl hails from his Senatorial District, congratulated her and offered her a cash gift of over two million naira and a scholarship to pursue her dream of becoming a big scientist and a medical doctor abroad. He further appreciated her for her diligence and urged her to remain focused and remember were she is come from.
