* The State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has assured that the era of schools without teachers is over in Anambra State. Speaking at the official flag-off of the distribution of the multimillion Naira instructional materials and the commissioning of six Shuttle Buses for quality assurance monitoring visits, held at the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB Headquarters, Awka, Governor Soludo, represented by the Head of Service, Barr. Theodora Igwegbe noted that education in Anambra State is free, adding that 2000 laptops were recently distributed to Head Teachers of schools to enhance their digital skills and facilitate a speedy digitization of education in the State.

* Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Anambra Chapter has urged the state government to consider the appointment of Journalists into the state Execitive Council, state Boards, Agencies and Parastatals for a better and more robust relationship with the media. NUJ in its  March congress appealed to the state government and other good-spirited individuals to assist the Union in the completion and fencing of the NUJ, Anambra State Council Secretariat.

* A middle-aged man has alleged that health workers, especially doctors at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (also known as the Anambra State University Teaching Hospital), Amaku, Awka, are gambling with people’s lives at the hospital. The man, identified as Mr. Uche Ileabuchi, lamented that he had observed, with great disappointment, what he described as the lackadaisical attitudes and levity with which the doctors in the hospital do their works, to the point of toying with human lives.

* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, has scored Governor Chukwuma Soludo high, especially on the areas of quality road infrastructures, recruitment of teachers, health workers, medical personnel and digitalization of schools and hospitals. Delivering his goodwill message to Soludo who will mark his two years in office on Sunday, March 17th  2024, the bishop thanked God for what he had used the Governor to do so far in Anambra, noting that Soludo had shown truly that he had the demonstrable will to fulfill his campaign promises and as well make his mark as the State’s number one worker.

* Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Anambra State chapter has commended Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu-led council executive for their leadership style and for emerging best council in the South-East Zone at the peer review of councils at NEC of NUJ at Abuja. The union at their March Congress noted that the recognition was as a result of hard work, commitment and innovations of the current executive for the betterment of its members in the state. The Congress called for support from members to the Comrade Odogwu led executive for more impact in the society. 

* The outgoing Provost of  Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Dr. Ifeyinwa Osegbo congratulates the newly appointed  Provost of the institution Dr.Ogugua Patricia Anwuluorah. Dr. Osegbo prays for the new Provost’s successful tenure of Office. She urges the College Community to give her all the necessary support because development thrives only in a peaceful environment. She expresses optimism that the College under the incoming Administration will perform more than she has done. 

* A bus driver, Mr Uchechukwu Dike has presented a cash gift of about N50,000 to Anambra State governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo. The driver said the money is to appreciate the governor for his massive infrastructural projects in the state within 24 months. The drama happened in Onitsha where the governor had gone to inspect some ongoing projects, when the driver tried to approach the governor, but was stopped by security operatives.

* Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, in collaboration with an Igbo social-cultural Organization, Odinala Cultural Heritage Foundation (OCHIE), has inaugurated committees in a bid to develop and Integrate a standard  curriculum for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with Igbo as a language of instruction and evaluation across Schools in South East Nigeria. The Vice Chancellor of Unizik Prof Charles Esimone while inaugurating the committees at the ASUU Secretariat, said the programme is built around promoting the use of Igbo language in modern technology and development of students in the South East and beyond.

* Anambra State Local Government Service Commission uncovered two hundred and ten ghost workers in the state. The Chairman of the Commission, Chief Vin Ezeaka, disclosed this to journalists in Awka. He also revealed that the Commission had dismissed six Deputy Directors for certificate forgery and other infractions. According to Ezeaka, the dismissed deputy directors were all products of Imo State University.
