# A Former Member of the House of Representatives for Nnewi-North, Nnewi-South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency; Hon. Uchenna Eleodimmuo, has declared his intention to run for the House Of Representatives for the Federal Constituency under APGA.
The Event which took place at his Nza Ozubulu residence had in attendance his ward chairman, Ward Executives, Councilor and stakeholders of the ward.
Some of the speakers expressed disappointment at the judicial summersault that led to his unjust removal from the office and expressed readiness to send him back to the green chambers to ensure the full implementation of his people oriented legislative agenda.
Addressing the people of his ward, Hon. Eleodimmuo expressed gratitude for the support he received during the last elections which ensured he stayed in touch with the people even after leaving the office. He assured them of his readiness to return to the green chambers as he has already acquired the necessary experience required to ensure effective representation.
# The traditional prime minister of Okpeze community Chief Donatus Nwafor is in high spirits over Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s inauguration for a second term in office alongside his deputy Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim.
In a congratulatory message following their successful swearing- in for a second term in office at the Dr.Alex Ekwueme Square Awka on the 17th of March 2026, chief Nwafor urged the governor to shun sycophancy and face serious governance in his second term in office.
Nwafor reminded the governor of the activities of some chief executives who look down on the electorate during their second term in office and advised him to be careful not to derail from working for the masses.
The traditional prime minister expressed confidence that given his successful first term in office,his second term will be better.
# The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Anambra State Command, Maku Olatunde, has ordered the deployment of 771 officers and men, along with other operational assets of the Corps, for water-tight security ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebration and beyond.
The State Commandant stated this after reviewing operational order released for the festive period at the State Command Headquarters Awka.
The NSCDC State helmsman disclosed that personnel would be strategically stationed at Eid Prayer grounds, recreational centers, markets, motor parks, as well as other Critical National and State and Local Government Assets and Infrastructure prone to criminal activities.
In addition, personnel from specialized units, including the Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Rapid Tactical Squad, Anti-Vandalism Squad, Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Disaster Management Unit, will be deployed to public spaces, Eid grounds, social and recreational centers, critical national infrastructure, and other strategic public places.
Commandant Maku sternly warned miscreants, hoodlums, disgruntled elements and vandals to keep off Critical Assets and Infrastructure, adding that the Corps will take strict action against anyone caught or found culpable. He also urged officers and men to be committed, vigilant, and professional, while respecting citizens’ fundamental rights.
# The Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC) has praised the performance of Governor Chukwuma Soludo as he begins a second term in office, while outlining priority areas it says must define the next phase of governance in Anambra State.
In a statement issued by its Executive Director, Ugochi Agalaba-Ehiahuruike, the organisation said Soludo’s renewed mandate signals strong public endorsement of his policies and developmental strides across key sectors.
SIDEC pointed to improvements in road infrastructure as one of the administration’s standout achievements, noting that expanded and rehabilitated road networks have enhanced mobility, opened up rural communities, and stimulated economic activities.
The group also highlighted progress in healthcare, particularly the government’s free antenatal care and delivery initiative, which it said has eased the burden on families and improved access to maternal health services.
# The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie has stated that any lecturer caught selling textbooks directly to students will face disciplinary measures.
The Rector made this known in her office, when the executive of the Students Union Government of the Institution led by the union president, Giant Comrade Anuluonye Ifechukwu Joseph paid a courtesy call on her.
Awuzie reiterated that the only channel permitted for sale of textbooks in the Polytechnic is the polytechnic bookshop; warning that lecturers who bypass the school bookshop to sell text books directly to the students will not go scot – free.
She stated that she is yet to receive any official petition about direct sale of textbooks by any lecturer to students and made it clear that any petition to that effect will be judiciously treated.
# Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State have renamed the strategic Limca Road connecting Awka Old Road, Nkpor Junction, Onitsha-Awka-Enugu Expressway and Obosi-Umuoji Road, among others as “Ichie Emeka Anyaoku Road.”
The local government Chairman of Idemili North, Chief Stanley Nkwoka, in his address, held at the popular Nkpor Junction, said the exercise serves as a reminder of Anyaoku’s selfless contributions to the community and to inspire the youths to strive for greatness.
The Mayor said the Local Government
embarked on the journey of honouring the former Commonwealth secretary-general to inspire future generations to emulate his values, work ethic, and commitment to excellence.
Nkwoka noted that the renaming of the road passed through legislative processes at the council, and it was adopted and passed into law.
# The Records Unit of the Registry at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has witnessed a remarkable transformation following the timely intervention of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, with staff expressing satisfaction over the significantly improved working conditions.
In separate interviews, staff members commended the Vice-Chancellor for his proactive leadership in addressing long-standing challenges that previously hindered productivity within the unit.
A Principal Executive Officer, Mrs. Imo Ebere Blessing, expressed gratitude to God and the Vice-Chancellor for the positive changes introduced. She recalled that upon her redeployment to the unit last year, the office environment was not too conducive due to obsolete equipment and inadequate furniture, laptops, and computers. She noted, however, that the situation has changed remarkably, as renovation works commenced promptly and were completed within a short period.
Mrs. Blessing further disclosed that the Vice-Chancellor personally monitored the progress of the project at a point, a gesture she described as a clear demonstration of his commitment to staff welfare and institutional development. According to her, the unit now operates in a conducive environment that enhances efficiency and productivity.
In a similar vein, another Principal Executive Officer, Mr. Okoye Ofoma David, observed that the improved office environment has positively impacted staff morale, making work less strenuous and easing the burden of long working hours.
Also speaking, the Deputy Registrar (Records), Mrs. Raluchukwu Ifeanyi-Njelita, revealed that the transformation of the unit commenced shortly after the Vice-Chancellor assumed office. She explained that during an earlier visit, he assessed the condition of the unit and pledged to collaborate with the Alumni Association to reposition it, boost its revenue-generating capacity, and enhance the University’s image. She affirmed that this commitment has since been fulfilled, resulting in the visible improvements currently being experienced.
# In a decisive move to strengthen rural infrastructure and drive economic growth, the Anambra State House of Assembly has passed two strategic road-related bills.
The bills; Anambra State Rural Access Roads Development Agency (ASRARA) Bill 2025 and Anambra State Roads Fund Board (ASRFB) Bill 2025, scaled through after rigorous clause-by-clause consideration at the Committee of the Whole.
The ASRARA Bill provides for the establishment of a specialized agency to take charge of the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of Class C and Class D roads, with a clear focus on opening up hinterland communities and improving access to agricultural markets.
On its part, the ASRFB Bill seeks to institutionalize a dedicated Roads Fund that will ensure sustainable, transparent, and consistent financing for the maintenance of rural road infrastructure across the state.
