# The new Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, has officially taken over from her predecessor, Dr. Joe Akabuike, as the Chief Medical Director of COOUTH.
Handing over to Dr. Umeakuewulu, the outgoing CMD, Dr. Joe Akabuike, who appreciated Prof Chukwuma Soludo for finding him worthy to serve, said that the Governor made the best choice in appointing Dr. Umeakuewulu as his successor.
Akabuike revealed that the greatest challenge facing the hospital is accommodation for patients, noting that when he assumed office, the hospital recorded about seven hundred and fifty thousand patient attendances per year, but that the figure has increased to one point five million annually, showing that the hospital is moving forward in both infrastructural development and human service delivery.
Responding, Dr. Umeakuewulu assured that she will continue from where Dr. Akabuike stopped, promising that her major task is to ensure that the hospital becomes one of the best in all ramifications, and stressing that all hands must be on deck to make the hospital a centre of excellence, as she cannot achieve it alone.

# The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has stated that the Police response to the viral complaint video alleging unprofessional conduct of officers in Onitsha will be holistic and comprehensive.
The CP noted that beyond identifying and investigating the officers directly involved in the alleged misconduct, supervising officers under whose watch the incident occurred will also be queried as part of efforts to ensure accountability and reinforce discipline within the ranks.
Orutugu reiterated that the Command will not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct and assured members of the public that appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the Nigeria Police Force.
# Fear and confusion gripped residents of Agulu after a high-speed lorry careened off the road and slammed into St. Matthias Catholic Church, erupting into flames in a terrifying midweek incident.
The heavy-duty truck was reportedly descending the Agulu Lake–Golden Tulip Hotel Road at dangerous speed when the driver suddenly lost control. In a split second, the vehicle veered off course, crashed into the church premises, and ignited a fire that sent onlookers fleeing.
Witnesses described a scene of instant chaos—flames shooting up as the wreckage smoldered, while stunned residents scrambled to safety. Fortunately, the area had just cleared moments earlier, preventing what could have been a devastating tragedy.

# The President General of Awka Indigenes in the Diaspora Union Worldwide, Chief Godwin Moneke, says Governor Chukwuma Soludo has brought significant infrastructural development to Awka, the capital of Anambra State.
Speaking in an interview during the inauguration of Governor Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka for another four-year tenure, Chief Moneke expressed satisfaction with the outstanding performance of Soludo across different parts of the state, especially in Awka, where the government embarked on massive infrastructural development, adding that the ultra-modern Government House and Lodge have made Awka the cynosure of all eyes.
Chief Moneke maintained that the second tenure of Governor Soludo holds great prospects for Ndi Anambra and called for increased support for the Public-Private-Community Partnership model of the government to enhance the development of the state.
According to him, the people of Awka in the diaspora will always support the programmes and policies of the Soludo administration at all times.
# Dr. Jude Okechukwu Emecheta, a media consultant and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra state has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s gas pipeline initiative for electricity generation to engender industrialisation in the state.
Emecheta who congratulated the governor on his second term inauguration, in an interview, maintained that Soludo would be the best governor in the world, if he actualises the gas pipeline agenda as he believes only steady electricity supply can guarantee industrialisation and massive job creation for the citizenry.

In his Goodwill Message to Muslim faithful on Eid-El-Fitr celebration, Rt. Hon. Udeze enjoined them to prioritize the growth and development of the country by pursuing peace and unity at all times.
The Speaker noted that with religious bigotry and dichotomy, the country will lack progress, urged Muslims to coexist harmoniously with their Christian brothers and accommodate their religious differences with one faith in God.

# The coronation of Igwe Sir Ben Chibuzor Okeke-Ifi as the new Traditional Ruler of Ndiowu in Orumba North LGA took place at Eziobodo Square, Umudiabor Village, Ndiowu, following his successful election by the people of Ndiowu and certification by the Anambra State Government.
Speaking after the coronation, Igwe Okeke-Ifi thanked God and the people of Ndiowu for finding him worthy to be their king, promising to unite the people and transform the community through developmental projects in line with the transformation agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
In their separate speeches, Mazi Jonathan Okoli, Mr. Chris Okeke-Ifi, Dr. Engineer Chidi Nwafor, Sir Nwajagu Nnaemeka, as well as the Chairman of the Orumba North Traditional Rulers’ Council and Traditional Ruler of Awa, Igwe Israel Ezue, hailed the event as a success, describing it as the end of crises in the community and the beginning of peace and development, which Igwe Okeke-Ifi represents.
