* Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to ensure that power supply in Anambra State is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

* The Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Patricia Igwebuike has reiterated the state government’s resolve to ensure good working condition for the state Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs). Barr. Igwebuike made this known recently during an interactive meeting with management staff of the Vehicle Inspection Service of the state in her office.

* The Faculty of Agriculture, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka has held her first hybrid International Conference. The two-day conference which was held from 23rd to 24th March 2023 at the University Auditorium had the theme, “Sustainable Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Climate Change Response”.

* The member representing Orumber North at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Aforka has thanked all those who supported him during the just concluded general elections. Aforka who is the deputy majority leader of the assembly in a letter to his constituents maintained that despite the outcome of the election, ‘the hope still remains that the dreams of Ndi Orumba shall never die.’

* Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has hailed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s developmental strides in the education sector since assumption of office. Prof. Chuma-Udeh, spoke in glowing terms about  Governor Soludo while speaking to the Anambra Broadcasting Service in Awka recently. She said the Governor hit the ground running immediately with the recruitment of 5000 teachers at a go to end the era of schools without teachers in the state. 

* The joint enforcement team of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA, Brigade has arrested seven persons suspected of impersonating officials of Anambra State Internal Revenue Service. The team headed by Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere made the arrest when they raided Awka and Oye-Agu, Abagana. The suspects were caught red-handed collecting illegal tax and issuing fake receipts to tricycle operators and mini-bus drivers plying the busy Awka-Onitsha old road. 

* The Co-ordinator National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Orumba South Chapter, Comr Uchenna Ejeri has inaugurated his Excos. During the inauguration, he urged them to be of good conduct and exhibit commitment as they discharge their duties. He enjoined the new executive members to henceforth portray a life that manifests what the NYCN stands for.

* A Professor of Public Health Parasitology, Dennis Nnanna Aribodor, has explained why Nigeria is yet to eliminate malaria. The Professor from the Department of Parasitology and Entomology, Faculty of Biosciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, said lack of political will to confront the malaria problem, inadequate funding and over-dependence on foreign partners, terrorism, insurgency, banditry, conflicts and internal displaced persons is considered the greatest challenges towards achieving malaria elimination in the country.

* The Grand Finale and Award Ceremony of the Anambra Talent Show Season 2 takes place at Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka on Sunday, March 26, starting from 2pm. Organised by the office of the Special Adviser to the Anambra State Governor on Entertainment, Leisure and Tourism in partnership with Bring it on Africa (a Non-Governmental Organisation), the Anambra Talent Show Season 2 has the noble aims of discovering new talents in the areas of Acting, Singing, Dancing, and Technovation.
