* The Minister for Works, Engr. Dave Umahi says the flag-off construction of the second Niger Bridge road linking Delta and Anambra states, Phase 2B will benefit those travelling down from Lagos,
Umahi revealed that the road will have cameras and solar powered streetlights, adding that thirty percent mobilization has been approved and released to the contractors.
He described Governor Soludo as a key leader who has mainstreamed innovation in the governance of Anambra State, congratulated him on his successful three years in office, calling on the people to keep praying and supporting the President and Governor.
* A strategic meeting of all the Chambers of Commerce in Anambra State has been convened by the Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu to discuss the government’s economic programme for 2025 and to get their buy-in to mobilize industry leaders, captains of enterprises, and to secure their partnership as the business community.
This would also enable members of the Chambers to contribute their input in the implementation of the government’s efforts to boost trade, commerce, and to sustainably enhance the ease of doing business in Anambra state.
The 2025 Ministry of Industry programme for the year was shared to enable the Chambers of Commerce to rally round the economic transformation and industrialization agenda of the governor.
Some of these phenomenal industrial economic development programmmes includedd the Made in Anambra Trade Fair and Export Development Conference, Anambra Mixed Use Industrial City Development Summit, and perhaps, to plan and host Manufacturers Roundtable with the Anambra State Government to address emerging issues.
* A Joint Security team comprising the Police, Military and Ihiala Vigilante while on patrol intercepted a black shuttle with reg nos: RSH 255MS that drove in a suspicious manner.
In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the armed occupants opened fire on the Joint Security team.
According to the spokesperson of Anambra Police Command, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, during the gun duel, the Joint Security team demobilised one of the armed assailants while four others abandoned the shuttle bus and escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds via a nearby bush.
“The Operatives on searching the vehicle found a blindfolded victim, suspected to have been kidnapped and who was tied on the hand and legs while his mouth was sealed.
“The victim was successfully rescued, given first aid and debriefed by the Police Operatives. Also, the vehicle was recovered and the Joint Security Team are still in an operation in the area for possible arrest of others on the run’. Ikenga said
* Chief Emeka Okelo a former President General of Abacha community Idemili North, LGA Anambra State and a Lagos based business mogul has noted that the forth coming November 2025 Anambra State governorship election will be tough to predict on which party will triumph but that if the incumbent Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo can sustain his current development tempo in the state especially on security maintenance will emerge victorious if he decides to come back for a second tenure in office.
Giving this assessment while speaking to newsmen in Awka, Okelo who brought peace and tranquility as well as several developmental projects to his community during his tenure as president general noted that the current successes recorded by the recently formed Udo ga adi security outfit which is reducing insecurity in every part of anambra state has added a new impetus to the rating of Gov. Soludo by people of the state for him to have an edge over other governorship aspirants from other parties.
While praising Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his achievements so far in his three years in office, he beckoned on him to make sure the outfit was not abused by its operators by ensuring that their activities are monitored to avoid abuse by operators of the outfit.
* President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday flagged off the construction of Phase 2B of the access road to the Second Niger Bridge.
Tinubu who was represented at the groundbreaking ceremony by Governor Chukwuma Soludo in his address, said the Second Niger Bridge would remain incomplete until the entire 35km access road was fully constructed.
Prof. Soludo While acknowledging previous setbacks, thanked President Tinubu and expressed optimism that, with Umahi as Minister of Works, the project would be completed as planned.
The Governor urged community leaders, President Generals and traditional rulers to ensure that local youths do not obstruct construction activities, emphasizing that cooperation is essential for a smooth execution process.
* The member representing Orumba North and South in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinwe Nnabuife, has officially joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), leaving behind her former party, the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
Nnabuife, who won her federal seat by defeating Okwudili Ezenwankwo under the YPP banner, made the announcement during a ceremony in Awka, Anambra State.
In her speech to a crowd of supporters and APGA members, Nnabuife expressed her belief that her defection was inevitable.
* In a significant move to ensure transparency and accountability, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has inaugurated the Personnel Audit Committee of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic.
The inauguration ceremony took place in her office with key stakeholders in attendance.
In her inaugural speech, Awuzie emphasized the importance of commitment, thoroughness, and adherence to the principle of impartiality.
She assured the committee of her support, promising to provide a conducive environment for them to carry out their duties effectively.
* Anambra State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Mrs. Blessing Ekene Iruma has paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, at the Command Headquarters in Awka.
The meeting aims to enhence partnership between the NYSC and the Police in ensuring the safety and seamless service of Corps members within the state.
The Police Commissioner, while welcoming the NYSC delegation, lauded the scheme’s transformational growth over the years.
CP. Orutugu emphasized the shared responsibility both institutions bear in fostering a safe environment and advised on intensifying sensitization efforts for Corps members, particularly to discourage excessive and unnecessary travel.
In her remarks, Mrs. Iruma expressed gratitude for the existing positive rapport between the NYSC and the Anambra Police Command.
The NYSC cordinator highlighted the indispensable role of the Police in providing the security backbone that enables Corps members to carry out their duties effectively.
* Chief Igwenagu Nnatuanya Dilibe has joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, with hundreds of his supporters.
Dilibe joined APGA in his country home, Amudo village, in Awka South LGA explained that he came into APGA because of the outstanding performance of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Awka capital city and critical sectors such as infrastructure, security, education, health among others.
The Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chuwuma Okoye while receiving Chief Igwenagu into APGA, lauded him for taking the right decision and assured him that he will enjoy all the rights and benefits due to him as a member of the party.
* A Community leader, Chief Tony Onyeagolu has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for coming up with Agunechemba security outfit which is aimed at ensuring safety of lives and property across the state.
Chief Onyeagolu called on the Agunechemba security outfit to remain steadfast in their approach to community security and justice and not to be distracted by those who have continued to put the state in bad light.
He stated this while responding to the recent publication regarding the detention of Mr Onyemazu Ngini by Agunechemba security outfit over his involvement in land grabbing and running a criminal team using Youth leader as a cover.
Chief Onyeagolu noted that It is crucial to clarify his position and the reasons for his involvement in the matter, as allegations have surfaced against both himself and the Agunechemba operatives by persons rooting for the release of Ngini without trial.
