* For the second time in two months and due to the need to keep it’s bush areas, and entire Community crime-free, the Enugwu-Ukwu Joint Vigilante Security team undertook a Bush Combing exercise yesterday, but this time at the Agu Isionye land area Enugwu-Ukwu.
The Security exercise at Agu Isionye Enugwu-Ukwu land area which was done at the instance of the President General Enugwu-Ukwu Community, Chief Patrick Nworji.
The combing was carried out by a team of over 40 trained Enugwu-Ukwu Security Operatives well armed, and determined to ensure that the Community lands are crime-free, in line with the vision and commitment of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in signing into law the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025 for a safe and secure Anambra State.
During the exercise, the team went round the Enugwu-Ukwu end of the Agu Isionye land area (which equally extended to the boundary with the neighbouring Nawfia Community) during which some discoveries were made including a decomposing body of an unidentified middle-aged man possibly shot at the neck, and dumped in a gutter at the Agu Isionye land area, not far distance from the road leading through the Security Tower to the Enugu-Onitsha Express way road; a hidden herdsmen settlement mini-camp with their cows, etc.
* The member representing Oyi and Ayamelum Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinwe Gwacham has called on the federal government to support Soludo’s re-election in 2025, arguing that his continued leadership would guarantee sustained development in Anambra.
Gwacham while speaking at the
flag-off construction of the second Niger Bridge road linking Delta and Anambra states, Phase 2B, suggested that in 2027, Soludo would reciprocate the gesture, hinting at broader political realignments.
* The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has officially sworn in a new leadership to oversee the chapel’s affairs for the next three years. The inauguration ceremony took place during the chapel’s second meeting of the year, held at the Gellys Garden in Awka, Anambra State.
Chief Chuks Ilozue, who was recently elected as chairman, was sworn in by Sir Vincent Ujumadu ¹. In his remarks, Ujumadu emphasized the importance of peace and reconciliation, urging the new leadership to prioritize these values where needed.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Ms Betty Onuchukwu, Vice Chairman of the NUJ, Anambra State Council. Mr Okechukwu Obeta, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, advised the new leadership to work harmoniously with the state NUJ.
* A bill for a law to provide against all forms of discrimination and to give protection, access to support and care to all persons living with HIV and affected by AIDS in Anambra State and other related matters have scale through second reading.
The Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Nobel Igwe who sponsored the bill, while speaking on its importance and objective
at plenary, frowned at the
discrimination faced by persons living with HIV/AIDS.
Hon. Igwe, the member representing Ogbaru one Constituency stated the bill is working towards ensuring that those with HIV/AIDS are given sense of belonging.
Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze who presided plenary referred the bill the House Committee on Health, Chaired by Hon. Tony Muobike.
* Anambra’s Bayelsa State community gathered in the state capital for a grand display of tradition and unity at the Cultural Day celebration held in the state.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo in his remarks, highlighted the administration’s efforts in fostering peace, progress, and security.
Represented by Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim, the Deputy Governor, applauded the remarkable strides made by Soludo in transforming the state. He condemned the criminal elements masquerading as traditionalists, stressing that the government would not rest until the state is rid of these threats to the upcoming generation of Ndi Anambra.
Anambra Commissioner of Police CP. Ikioye Orutugu in his speech, welcomed his people from Okpoama Kingdom, Bayelsa State who are residing in Anambra in an event which promotes the bond between the South-South and South-East regions of Nigeria.
CP. Orutugu expressed gratitude for the presence of the state government, the police, and well-wishers from both within and outside the state.
* A frontline governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Sir. Paul Chukwuma, has expressed strong confidence in emerging victorious in the party’s primary election slated for Saturday, April 5, 2025.
Speaking on Television Continental’s (TVC) current affairs programme on Tuesday, Chukwuma attributed his optimism to the overwhelming grassroots support he enjoys, crediting it to his role in repositioning and strengthening the APC in Anambra over the past three years.
Addressing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) dominance in Anambra politics, Chukwuma declared that the political landscape would shift come November 8, 2025.
According to him, the APC is well-positioned to take over the reins of government and offer more effective leadership for the state.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has
received a delegation from the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS), led by its country director, Dr. Leo Zekeng at the Governor’s lodge in Amawbia.
They are in the state on a familiarization visit to collaborate with the State Government in developing and implementing effective HIV/AIDS control programs.
Their goal is to explore ways to provide technical support and mobilize resources to scale up the response and sustain efforts to end HIV/AIDS by 2030.
* The member representing Orumba-North constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Paul Obu has stated that his predecessor never called for a constituency briefing during his tenure to render his account of stewardship to Orumba-North people.
Obu who spoke in his office at the state assembly complex Awka while responding to his alleged distance from his constituents, maintained that such allegations were plots by his enemies to distract him from giving the people of Orumba-North quality representation because he has done what his predecessor didn’t do in all his stay in the state assembly.

* The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra Command, Comdt. Maku Olatunde, has reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to ramping up security measures to safeguard the well-being of students, teachers, and host communities across the state.
Comdt. Maku made this known on Tuesday when he received Mrs. Umezuruike Gladys, the Principal, Federal Government College Nise who was at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters Awka on a familiarization visit.
The NSCDC State helmsman emphasized that collaboration, situational awareness, and compliance with security guidelines are vital in averting security lapses.
In her speech, the Principal of Federal Government College Nise, Mrs. Umezurike Gladys, commended NSCDC for its professionalism in providing adequate security and security tips for schools and host communities under the Safe School Project. She appreciated the NSCDC for mobilizing both human and material resources to counter the escalating threats facing students, staff, and educational institutions nationwide.
* Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) has arrested some illegal revenue collectors in Onitsha for selling illegal tickets and emblems.
The Commander Special Squad of the AIRS, Mr. Nathan Obikwelu while speaking
after the exercise, said that those arrested were selling tickets and emblems to commercial motorcyclists at Afor-Igwe, Umudioka.
Obikwelu said the act is against the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s directive that nobody should be selling such to commercial motorcyclists in the state, as a means to lessen the economic burden on them.
He regretted that the illegal revenue collectors are collecting 5,000 each from motorcyclists in the area with the support of some armed security officials, adding that they will be detained and arraigned in court as soon as possible, saying that the onslaught against the criminals will be a continuous exercise.
