# Anambra State House of Assembly has urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Managing Director of Anambra State Information Communication Agency to collaborate with the Anambra State Local Service Commission to commence training of local government staff on ICT compliance for enhanced service delivery.

The call was made at plenary through a motion sponsored by the lawmaker representing Idemili South constituency, Barrister Ebuka Igwe.

Hon. Igwe in his submission, maintained that the Anambra State Government under the visionary leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has made digital transformation and e-governance a cardinal pillar of its administration through the Anambra State Information Communication Technology Agency.

According to Hon. Igwe, the Local Government Councils constitute the third tier of government and the closest to the grassroots, making their staff pivotal to effective service delivery in areas such as revenue collection, health, education, agriculture, and community development.

# The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), through its subsidiary, First Power Electricity Distribution Company (FpEDC), has plunged residents of Amudo Village, Awka, into prolonged darkness,allegedly as punishment for exposing an extortion scheme linked to the repair of a faulty transformer.

Mr. Okechukwu Okafor, Managing Director of FpEDC, reportedly stated during a recent interaction that he ordered the disconnection of electricity supply to over 100,000 residents as proof that the company did not levy customers for transformer repairs.

However, residents of the Amudo community maintain that they were compelled to contribute between ₦2,000 and ₦5,000—depending on the size of their homes or shops—to fund the repair of a transformer that had been out of service for more than three weeks.

Mr. Okechukwu Obeta, a journalist and resident of the community, undertook his civic responsibility to hold those in power accountable by reporting on the levies and documenting his own contribution.

# Former Super Falcons star, Maureen Mmadu has thanked the Anambra State Football Association for appointing her to the Women Football Development Committee.

Mmadu expressed her commitment to contributing her experience to help Anambra Football Association grow women’s football in the state to enviable height, emphasizing the need for structured development programs and mentorship.

# In a daring early-morning raid, the Anambra State Police Command smashed a notorious five-member gang terrorizing commercial motorcyclists in Ihiala LGA

The Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, swooped in, seizing a locally made Beretta pistol, three stolen Qlink motorcycles, and a striking red face mask.

Shockingly, the gang’s operations hinged on a female accomplice, Adaobi Udeze, 26, who posed as an innocent passenger to lure unsuspecting okada riders into secluded ambushes. Once isolated, the gang struck — robbing victims of their bikes and valuables.

The arrested suspects are: Sunday Chukwudebele (22), Chimezie Ifebi (35), Kelvin Chukwuejike (28), Uzi Chukwuejike Williams Umeh (26), alongside the cunning Adaobi Udeze.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga revealed the female suspect “plays a strategic role in deceiving motorcyclists to isolated locations where the gang attacks them,” highlighting the brazen nature of their crimes.
