# Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, have uncovered an eight-month-old Case of a reported missing person with the arrest of a 35-year-old suspect, Chukwudalu Ezeani, in connection with the murder of his cousin, late Chinedu Ezeani aged 52 years.

Anambra State Command, in a press release noted that Preliminary investigations reveal that on 1st August 2025 at about 8:00 pm, the suspect allegedly killed the deceased at his residence in Afube Village, Amichi, and buried the body in a shallow grave within his compound, concealing the crime for about eight months.
“The Case, which was initially reported as a missing person incident at Amichi Police Station, was later revisited by detectives following credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and led operatives to the burial site within his compound, where the corpse was exhumed.
“The remains have been deposited for necessary forensic examination, while the suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.” Ikenga stated.
# The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra Chapter on Saturday commenced their monthly Fitness Walk and Exercise.
Members of the association came out in their numbers to the exciting walk which started at Emeka Anyaoku Boulevard, Awka.

Speaking after the Walk, Chimezie Anaso, Chairman of the Chapter said the Monthly Fitness Walk was aimed at encouraging members to pay attention to their physical wellbeing.
Anaso said as lovers and promoters of sports through journalism, members of SWAN should engage in regular exercise to boost their physical health and mental alertness.
Anaso said the Monthly Fitness Walk and Exercise was open to partnership and collaboration with public sector players and corporate organisations.
# The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) joint campus council, Anambra state axis, has protested over
unjust increase in rent by agents and landlords.
The students took the protest to the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The Leader of the Students Union, comrade Ifeanyichukwu Chukwuemeka, while speaking, said they are advocating for the welfare of students within tertiary institution host communities across Anambra state on the unjust increase in rent by agents and landlords.
Chukwuemeka noted that they operate without regulation, supervision or accountability and also their actions are arbitrary, oppressive and clearly inimical to the welfare of students and parents.
Responding, on behalf of the Speaker of Anambra Assembly, the Majority Leader Sir. Ikenna Ofodeme, commended the students for tolling the right path by coming to the house of assembly to lay their complaints.
Hon. Ofodeme who is the lawmaker representing Ekwusigo constituency, promised the students that their challenges would be addressed, noting that it’s not just the problem of students but of parents and guidance who pay those rents.

# Daughter of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the women leader of Anambra state CityBoy Movement, Adaora Soludo had an engagement and a productive meeting with Anambra state local government women Cordinators of the CityBoy Movement.

# Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Anambra State Chapter, has called for strengthening intervention measures and surveillance system to effectively address animal to human transmission of tuberculosis in the state.
The body made this call during a public enlightenment campaign held at Umunya Slaughter House, Oyi Local Government Area to commemorate the 2026 World Tuberculosis Day themed “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver.
The public enlightenment was part of activities lined up by the association to mark Year 2026 event, which also featured Radio Sensitization Programme, public enlightenment and Meat Inspection.
Speaking during the enlightenment campaign at Umunya, Anambra Chairman of the association, Dr. Victor Ughaerumba, emphasized that ending tuberculosis in the state is achievable through sustained government investment.
# The traditional Prime Minister of Okpeze Chief Donatus Nwafor has congratulated Dr. Ben Nwankwo and Prof. Engr. Ebuka Nwankwo on their appointments as the Anambra State Chief of Staff and Special Adviser, Special Projects and Director Project Evaluation and Monitoring respectively.
