* The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), in Anambra State, is in the spotlight for a contract scandal involving its Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Ikechebelu Joseph.

Investigations by SaharaReporters have revealed that a contract for the university’s perimeter fencing was awarded twice—first to Messrs Abdullahi Hawawo Construction Co. Limited in 2024 for ₦180,031,437.50, and later to Dukonni Nigeria Limited in February 2025 for ₦370,738,367.05—without officially revoking the initial contract.

According to sources within the university, the Acting Vice Chancellor’s actions directly violate procurement laws, as the second contract was awarded without the proper cancellation of the first.

* Valentine Ozigbo, a leading contender in the 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election, has responded to a prophecy by Evangelist Ebuka Obi of the Zion Prayer Movement Outreach (ZPMO), which warned of a plot to kidnap and assassinate a gubernatorial aspirant named “Val.”

Disclosing this in a statement, Ozigbo, the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc and a widely regarded political figure, said he remained undaunted by the revealed plot, declaring his trust in God and reaffirming his commitment to the political mission ahead.

Ozigbo also referenced Romans 8:14, drawing on his faith to declare that he would remain undeterred, saying, “If there are those who believe that threats or violence will stop this movement for the emancipation of Ndi Anambra, they misunderstand the power of faith and conviction. Our mission is divinely ordered, and being led by the Spirit, we fear not because we are the sons and daughters of God.”

* Fr. Ebube Muonso has openly condemned the brutal activities of the Special Anti-Touting Squad Anambra (SASA), accusing them of recklessly taking lives and treating human lives as if they were nothing.

He criticized their use of excessive force, particularly the damaging impact of Aka Odo, a notorious weapon, and their ruthless approach.

In his message, Fr. Ebube Muonso prayed for divine protection over the people, declaring that this month, kidnappers, unknown gunmen, and armed robbers will not harm them.

* Hon. Ebuka Onuorah, President General of Enugwu Agidi, honored Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Prince Ugochukwu Ezejiofor, PSC, following his recent promotion.

During the event, which took place at the Zone 13 Headquarters in Ukpo, Anambra State, Hon. Onuorah offered prayers for divine guidance and protection for ACP Ezejiofor in his elevated role.

* An All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) stakeholder, Chief Primus Odili has described the emergence of Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State as the Sun Newspaper Governor of the year as a testament to the Governor’s Unprecedented Developments in the state, as well as his inclusive administration.

In his felicitation message made available to newsmen, Chief Odili described the award as meritorious and well-deserved, noting that Governor Soludo in less than 3 years of his administration has changed the narratives, altered the equation in his quest to live a legacy that will outlive the current generation of Ndi Anambra.

He disclosed that all the encomiums showered on Governor Soludo at the Eko Hotel and Suites Lagos yesterday 1st March, was a testament to the fact that he has done exceedingly well through massive infrastructural developments, health, education, agriculture, human capital developments, among others.

Speaking in an interview, Hon. Gwacham commended Soludo for decisively tackling crime and criminality through the signing of Anambra State Homeland Security Law

Gwacham however, advised parents to be weary of the kind of friends their children keep, their movements as to checkmate and early detection of their behavioral changes for a speedy correction.

“The problem with Nigerian politics is that it often boils down to who gives out more money. But what do you really gain from the money politicians share during elections?

It doesn’t last; it doesn’t change your life. I urge young people to look beyond money and vote for candidates who have the best interest of the state at heart,” he counseled.

* Anambra State Football Association, (ANSFA), has handed out a hefty five hundred thousand Naira, (N500, 000.00) sanction to Solution FC.

The Anambra State Government owned Nigeria National League (NNL) team was
sanctioned for several breaches in its rules and regulations governing the NEROS/ANSFA Cup decided at NEROS Stadium, Nanka.

Two players of Solution FC, Uche Iloh and Nonso Okechukwu were handed two match ban which will take effect in next year’s (2026) edition of the tournament after they were red-carded in the final of the 2025 NEROS/ANSFA Cup for gross Misconduct.

Also, Editing Ejogharado, a player of Solution FC was handed a one-year ban for Misconduct related offences that was termed as capable of bringing the game to disrepute.
