* Anambra State Government in its determination to maintain and sustain a clean and healthy environment has again urged citizen to desilt gutters, drainages in their environment. In a special announcement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Anambra State, Sir Paul Nwosu, stated that government is sad to note that in spite of all the notification and media announcements, those concerned have not heeded these warnings to desilt gutters and drainages in their environment. The release stated that Anambra State Government has discovered incessant disposal of waste into gutters and drainages instead of the designated locations.
* A High Court sitting in Otuocha, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State and presided over by Hon. Justice Tagbo Anieto has restored the National Executive Committee of Ogwuari Nsugbe community, in the same local government area. The court, in Suit No. OT/332/2023, recently returned the leadership of the community, led by Mr Tagbo Obi-Ezeazu as the authentic National Chairman of Ogwuari Nsugbe community. The community just like many others in Anambra has been enmeshed in leadership crisis, with a fresh election held to elect a new crop of leaders, even before the end of the tenure of Obi-Ezeazu and his executive.
* Anambra State Government has noticed with dismay the unwarranted display of goods and wares on the newly constructed roads and sidewalks, obstructing free flow of vehicular movement and pedestrians. Anambra Commissioner for Information Sir Paul Nwosu in a statement said that these incidents defeat the purpose for which these newly constructed roads and sidewalks were made. It said that this is particularly noticeable along Obodoukwu Road, Niger Street, Port Harcourt Road and a number of other locations where brand new roads have been constructed by the state government.
* The saying that education is the key to success may not be entirely true to a female graduate who was unemployed for thirteen years before she delved into the business of car wash. Jacinta Okeke, a graduate of Pure and Industrial Chemistry from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University narrated in tears her journey as unemployed graduate that pushed her become a commercial car washer.
Miss. Okeke who hails from Nnobi in Idemili South council area of Anambra State said that upon graduation and completion of her one-year national youth service to the fatherland, she worked as a teacher in a private school in the state while sending out her CV to companies and agencies but could not get a job.
* The administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo has been adjudged the best in Anambra state since inception, owing to the people-oriented approach to governance by the Governor. The President General of Mgbakwu Development Union, of Awka North Local Government Area, Mr. Basil Nwokeoma made the assessment at Mgbakwu while reacting to the leadership style of Professor Soludo and his achievements so far across the state. Nwokeoma who described Professor Soludo as a man of integrity and one who has the interest of the people at heart, rated his administration high in project execution that has direct bearing on the people.
* Anambra Truth, Peace and Justice Commission, established to investigate the remote and immediate causes of insecurity in the state and by extension, South East region has submitted its final report to Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
The Governor who received the report at the event held at Government House Awka, commended the members and the Commission’s chairman, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, for his dedication and the “historic” nature of the report. He highlighted the report’s potential to serve as a national framework for addressing security challenges.
* Anambra House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze on Wednesday inspected road projects at the seven local government areas in the South Senatorial Zone of the state.
The contractors assured that they will meet up to deadline as stipulated in the contract. Udeze while speaking in an interview after the inspection said the essence of this projects is to open opportunities and development in the state.
