* The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Exceptional Western Kiddies Nursery and Primary school, Awada Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State has debunked social media reports of alleged serial killing/ abduction of pupils of the institution by a gateman. It described the story as not only unfounded but the handiwork of the enemies of the school. The PTA faulted the news circulating on social media where the school was accused of having harboured one Echegwo Samuel in the school for human parts deals, describing the story as an attempt to rubbish the image of the institution.

* A middle aged man (name not confirmed) has been arrested by indigenes of Awka for killing a monkey. The man who was arrested for killing the animal, in a viral video was seen confessing that he has lived in Awka for 24 years, and that he was aware that Awka people neither permit the killing nor eating of monkeys. Angel Network News gathered that Monkeys are known to be sacred animals in the entire Awka kingdom, and killing them is seen as sacrilegious acts.

* A bill for a law to establish the health facilities monitoring and accreditation  agency and for connected purposes has been passed into law at the Anambra State House of Assembly. After some corrections at the committee of whole, Deputy Majority Leader Hon. Jude Akpua representing Njikoka two constituency moved a motion for the bill to be read for third time, and was seconded by the Minority Leader Hon. Johnbosco Akaegbobi representing Nnewi South one constituency. Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze stated that the law will take effect in two weeks time.

* Anambra State Government has lifted the curfew placed on Nnewi, Onitsha and Ogbaru. This was announced by the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Police Command, Mr Aderemi Adeoye when he visited the commercial city of Onitsha to assess the security deployment in the area. The visit was also to interact with Shuttle Bus drivers plying Upper Iweka Road to ascertain the return of commercial activities which was hitherto suspended by the government.

* Former Commissioners and House of Assembly members of the Peoples Democratic Party have thrown their weight behind the government of Governor Chukwuma Soludo. Operating under the auspices of “Solution Frontiers”, the group joined the APGA movement at the government house, Awka where they vowed to support Governor Soludo’s second term of four years. Recieving the group, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu revealed that the administration of Governor Soludo still has alot to offer to ndị Anambra, said that the system has being designed in such a way that only one political party exists in an administration per time.

* Prof Ọby Lilian Orogbu, the member 

representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency, has Felicitated Dr Gabriel Alonta of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka Anambra State on his birthday. In the message signed by herself, Orogbu hailed Alonta’s unwavering commitment to educate and called for more wisdom and grace upon the Unizik lecturer’s life. Recalling Alonta’s role in her election, Orogbu said the lecturer’s impact extended beyond the classroom.

* Umudioka village Awka, displayed its rich ancestral heritage during the Founder’s Day celebration held at Ngene Agu Deity Shrine, Awka. As the custodian of the Deity, Chief Tochukwu Nwosu performed the spiritual rites during the event, where adherents from far and near came to pay homage. The atmosphere at the Ngene Agu shrine was that of celebration, with cooking, provision of drinks and dancing by individuals and groups who gathered for the celebration.

* The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Anambra State Government to address issues of workers welfare in the state. The administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo pays workers’ salaries and pensions on or before the 25th of every month.

But in a joint communique signed by the leaders of the two Labour Unions, Comrades Humphrey Nwafor ( NLC)and Chris Ogbonna( TUC), the organised Labour said failure to address their demands may jeopardise the existing industrial peace and harmony in the state.
