* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has appreciate the hardwork and dedication of women all over the world particularly Anambra women who according to him are unrelenting in their pursuit of an excellent society. In a release from the Office of the Press Secretary to the Governor of Anambra State signed by Mr. Christian Aburime, the Governor celebrated Anambra women in particular for playing outstanding role in service and development and progress of the State.

* Princess Helen Mbakwe, the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP) at the just concluded February 25th National Assembly elections for Anambra Central Senatorial District has give reasons why she rejected the outcome of the election. Mbakwe in a briefing at the Godwin Ezeemo international press center in Awka, alleged that the logo of her political party was poorly printed on the ballot paper which according to her made it difficult for her supporters to identify and cast their votes for her and that the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) denied her teeming supporters the opportunity to vote.

* Anambra state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party PDP has called for the removal of the Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu.

Also the party has hailed the ruling of the Appeal Court against the prayers of INEC to reconfigure the BIVAS and iREV noting that it has increased the confidence of the masses on the Independence of the Judiciary. Similarly the party has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC not to tamper with the BiVAS and iREV as according to them it is a ploy to destroy evidence for the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

* Governor of Anambra State Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has described Enugwu-Ukwu as a huge town with four large wards and went on to say that the upcoming State House of Assembly election is critical because of the ongoing developments in the state. ANN reports that Soludo while inspecting the ongoing renovation of the Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital in Njikoka Council Area asserted that human capital is the foundation of development.

* The Chairperson of Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Anambra chapter, Franklyn Onyekachi has urge women to keep the positive energy towards creating a better environment for all, especially children. 

The NAWOJ chairperson while rejoicing and felicitating with women on the celebration of the 2023 International Women’s Day maintained that women are enterprising, resilient, hard-working, resourceful and an epitome of love and unity to their families, communities, state, and nation and deserve to be celebrated.

* Ndi-Anambra have been advised to put behind them the regrettable experiences of the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly Elections in the Country and come out in their large numbers to participate in next Saturday’s March 11 election to vote for  candidates of their choice at the polls. Handing down the advise in a One-Day Refresher Training Workshop organized by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Awka, Anambra State Directorate  held at the Corporate Headquarters of the Agency  in Awka, the State Director ,Barrister Charles Nwoji,said that Ndi-Anambra are known for their outstanding law-abiding character  and as respecters of  constituted authority, anywhere they find themselves in the country and beyond.

* Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has been admonished to stop appointing market leaderships in the state based on nepotism. A group, under the aegis of Concerned Traders of Anambra State (CTAS) who gave the admonition in a statement on Tuesday said such appointments would breed corruption. In a statement signed by its chairman, Chief Augustine Echezona, the traders said the attempt to turn Anambra State markets into an association of Old Aguata Union (OAU) was causing major problems in the markets.

* Properties worth millions of naira were lost  when a fire broke out from one of the main blocks of  the World bank assisted hostel at St.John’s Science and Technical College Alor in Idemili South LGA, Anambra state. According to a report at the scene of the incident, the fire outbreak occurred after some attempts to start the school’s generator failed

* Comrade Humphrey Emeka Nwafor has been elected the new Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), in Anambra State.

Nwafor is the current State Chairman, Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) Anambra State branch. The new NLC Chairman took over from Comrade Chinwe Orizu whose tenure came to an end on Tuesday.

* Governor of Anambra state Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has flagged-off the 3.2 kilometers Okpunoeze-Nnewi Hotel Road. Also flagged-off was the 2.2 kilometer Isaho Umuezeogu-NAUTH (Teaching Hospital Permanent site) Road. ANN gathered that Benejaf International Limited is the Contractor in charge of the road projects, while Maintech Engineering Consult is the consultant.

Performing the flag-offs, Governor Soludo promised to intervene in Nnewi major markets to transform them into modern markets fit for the twenty-first century.
