* Ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games scheduled to kick off in July, the proprietor Rojenny Games & Tourist Village located at Oba in Anambra State, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka (Ogilisi Igbo) has offered the Rojenny Stadium free for Nigeria to use and prepare athletes for Paris Games. Chief Ezeonwuka through his SA on Public Affairs, Chief Dozie Nweke said that the offer is part of his contribution for the development of sport in Nigeria. Nweke explained that the offer giving to Nigeria to come and use Rojenny to prepare athletes is to inspire them do well in Paris noting that Rojenny stadium will accord the Nigerian contingent the desired luck to thrive and win medals in Paris.
* The paramount ruler of Nnobi Community, HRM Igwe (Engr) Muodum Nick Obi has toured the community’s general hospital to see the medical equipment distributed to the hospital by Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. Igwe Obi was received by the community women leader, Lady Ifeyinwa Nnekwelugo, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr Caleb Mmaduneme, a stakeholder in Nnobi, Chief Azubuike Nwabugwu. The CMD, took Igwe Nick Obi round the hospital to see the new sets of medical equipment supplied by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
* The current promotion examination for both teaching and Non-teaching staff of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB has been successfully conducted, using the computer-based test (CBT). The CBT promotion examination test for staff from Grade Levels 13, 14, and 15 who were due to move to the next levels, respectively, was held at Kachukwukwuru ICT Centre, Awka.
The Executive Chairman, ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi in her speech stated that the innovation was in line with the vision of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to digitize governance at all levels and processes in the State.
* A Stakeholder Forum led by Hon Chief Simeon Ogude has taken to the streets of 33 today to advocate for the importance of physical activity and sports in the community. The leaders and stakeholders, representing various estates in 33, came together to address the pressing need for a dedicated space for recreational activities and sports to encourage fitness and well-being.
* Indigenes of Ajali community in Orumba-North Local Government Area of Anambra State have agreed and decreed that His Royal Highness Eze Augustine Nwangwu Ezeohazurume 1 of Ajali remains the traditional ruler of the community. The President-General of Ajali Welfare Union (AWU) Mazi Tonie Obiefuna, concurred that any person or group of persons not in agreement with the selection, coronation and certification of Eze Augustine Nwangwu should mourn their fate because the traditional stool of Ajali is not cash and carry.
* Three sisters have allegedly seized and refused to release the corpse of their late brother, one Mr. Ernest, to his wife and children, for a period of five years now and still counting. The incident happened in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, where the three sisters and their late brother hailed from.
The three sisters, who operate a prayer ministry, also seized up the entire property of the late brother and denied the wife her children access to them, since 2019 when the deceased died after a protracted illness caused by accident. Recounting their ordeal at the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare in Awka, where they reported the case for government’s intervention, the wife and the only surviving son of the deceased said they were also denied access to him when he was still alive and critically ill, as the sisters allegedly took him away to the area where they have their prayer centre.
* The Anambra state Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr Julius Chukwuemeka has received the State House of Assembly Committee members on Power and Water Resources who were on oversight function at his ministry in Awka. Receiving the lawmakers, Engr.
Chukwuemeka thanked them for their collaboration and synergy that is existing between the ministry and the House, which he said has yielded a positive result. He used the opportunity to enumerate some of the projects done by the ministry, noting that they would not have achieved the feat without the help of the Committee and prayed for the continuous synergy between his ministry and the committee. Speaking on behalf of the Committee members, the Chairman House Committee on Power and Water Resources, Hon Golden Iloh, noted that the importance of executive and legislative collaboration cannot be over emphasized and rated the Commissioner high on his achievements, saying that Engineer Chukwuemeka is sincerely meeting the Governor Soludo’s solution agenda and promised the committee’s support to the ministry’s policies and programmes for the benefit of the state.
* Drivers of the Transport Company Of Anambra State (TRACAS) have called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to probe the company’s account alleging that over seventy billion naira revenue is missing from the coffers. The drivers at the weekend protested at the gate of Anambra State government house, stating that the TRACAS management’s failed promise of using part of the money they are generating to provide for the parks.
The deivers who were seen holding placards, cited that their motor parks are not being up graded, even as they alleged heavy and multiple taxation by the management.
* Anambra based Football Club Solution FC defeated Tradesafe FC by two unreplied goals to ensure they will feature in the second tier of Nigeria’s most important league, the Nigeria National League (NNL) come next season. The Solution Boys who needed all the three points to secure their place in the NNL for the upcoming 2024-25 season started on a strong footing as Kennedy Ozobialu opened scoring in the 14th minute of the match evading two defenders off a pass from Gabriel Adeolu to slot his effort into the bottom right corner of the post beyond Tradesafe shotstopper Hassan Ismail. The second period was similar as the first with the Solution Boys mounting pressure upon pressure. The persistence paid off in injury time as the Centre Referee awarded a spot kick to Solution FC after Tradesafe defender Emmanuel Idowu harked down goal bound Solomon Ubong inside the box. * Ogilisi Igbo and Spiritual Leader of Igbo Nation Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo on moves to evacuate and bury dead bodies being kept in mortuaries in the state. Ezeonwuka who was reacting to the directives of the governor to the Ministry of Health applauded the management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) for acting swiftly by calling the public to come and take corpses of their loved ones. Ogilisi Igbo the directive was in line with his clamour of over a decade ago.
