* The Anambra State Police Command says its operatives have successfully rearrested one Ikemefuna Ossai, a suspect in the kidnapping and gruesome murder of the late Hon. Justice Azuka, the Member representing Onitsha one Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
The re-arrest followed a painstaking and intelligence-led operation.
According to SP. Tochukwu Ikenga,
Police Public Relations Officer Anambra State Command, the suspect, who had previously escaped custody, was tracked across multiple states within Nigeria and even into a neighbouring West African country.

at plenary, adopted the report of the Committee on Public Petitions on the matter titled “𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐬, 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐍𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐢, 𝐆𝐑𝐀 𝐎𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐬𝐡𝐚.”
After careful review, the House resolved that the Landlord Association should oversee the management of the estate, not the Allottees’ Association.
* Laying of Stone Base has commenced on the three point five kilometers Igboukwu-Amichi-Ekwulummili road, a contract awarded in January 2025 by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Men of NEVCLINTON construction company, the firm handling the project were seen discharging various degrees of construction work.
While some are laying stone base on some portion, others were casting the remaining portion of drainage on both sides of the road.
Speaking, the Managing Director, NEV CLINTON construction company, Prince Neville Uchendu said they started work on the road in early February this year and they are working day and night to complete and handover the job in the next three months.
According to Prince Neville, he is seriously interested in delivering quality job that would stand the test of time as a solution team member, noting that their only challenge is that the road is located in a flood prone area, but they are tackling it head on.
* The Chairman Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Chinedu Okafor has promised to partner Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Anambra state Chapter ably led by the Chairperson Comrade Tochukwu lfejika in projecting activities of the present administration.
The Mayor gave the assurance in his office during a courtesy visit by NAWOJ, stating that the association would work together with his media team for greater impact.
Okafor however, admonished the association to be proactive in the disseminating information so that the world will see that Anambra State has been transformed to become a liveable, and conductive environment.
* The representative of United Children Emergency Fund, UNICEF in Nigeria, Cristian Munduate has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for championing and prioritizing the welfare of children.
The Country Representative who was speaking during a courtesy call on the Governor at the Governor’s Lodge Amawbia, applauded the Governor for having the political will to invest in health.
In response, Governor Soludo commended UNICEF for the excellent work they are doing in the country, pointing out that children and youth constitute the bridge to the future which is why his administration see health and education as pivotal.
The Governor stressed that his administration is building that bridge through provision of free antenatal care, delivery services, among others and expressed readiness to partner UNICEF in every aspect of social protection.
* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described the traditional ruler of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe as one of the highly revered and erudite traditional rulers in Nigeria.
In his Goodwill Message to Igwe Achebe as he marks his 84th Birthday, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that Igwe Achebe’s training, candour, cognitive experience in public sector as well as deep knowledge of Igbo cultural heritage have distinguished him among his contemporaries, and also provided enough guide to his traditional affairs.
The Speaker who extolled Igwe Achebe’s contributions to the growth and development of the traditional institutions in the State and South-east Zone, enjoined other traditional rulers in Igbo land to emulate his passion and zeal for the advancement of the Igbo cultural heritage and his efforts to ensure a secure and unbiased Igbo nation.
While wishing Igwe Achebe more fruitful years on the throne and longevity, Rt Hon.Udeze called on Ndi Onitsha and beyond to give maximum support to Igwe Achebe at all times to enable him continue to pilot the traditional affairs of Onitsha kingdom and other engagements effectively.
* The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Anambra State Chapter has concluded arrangements to partner with the 8,000 members of the Ultimate Business Women And Farmers Association Of Nigeria’ (UBWFAN) on the fight against drug abuse at the grassroots level.
Speaking during a presentation of an award of Excellence by UBWFAN to the Commander of the Agency in Anambra,
Onyishi Daniel Ogbonna revealed that the cost of the deadly narcotic drug known as Mkpuru Miriri (Methamphetamine) which used to be N3,500 has skyrocketed to N16,500 per kilogram.
The Commander maintained that the rise in the price was due to the handling of the enforcement, which has made consumers and addicts not to have easy access to the drug.
In her remark, the President of UBWFAN Hon. Mrs. Nkiru Nwagbo noted that the award was in appreciation of the Command’s doggedness towards fight against drug abuse and peddling which according to her nearly consumed the state.
Hon. Nwagbo observed that drug is the major thing that triggers crime and all other social vices insisted that drug abuse has reduced to the minimal level that brought about the low level of insecurity in the state.
* The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Somtochukwu Udeze has called on lawmakers to remain committed to their roles as representatives of the people.
Udeze made the call today as the Assembly resumed plenary after recess and legislative retreat.
The Speaker who also commended lawmakers who have recently carried out constituency empowerment programs, encouraged the Lawmakers to continue their outreach to the grassroots thanking Governor Soludo for his support.
Welcoming the Lawmakers back, the Speaker urged them to focus on delivering democratic dividends through timely legislation, effective oversight, and adequate representation.

In her address, the Chairperson of NAWOJ highlighted some of the LGA activities such as monitoring of all the public health centers (PHCs) in the area and upgrading the ones in need of modern facilities for the citizenry to access quality healthcare.
