* As a follow up to his launching of the operation clean, green and sustainable Anambra Campaign, weeks ago, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has paid on-the-spot assessment to specific locations in Onitsha North/South Council Areas. Soludo visited the uncompleted Anambra Hotel, adjacent ShopRite, GRA Onitsha initiated by former Governor Peter Obi, Judges’ Quarters GRA Onitsha, and GRA Onitsha Water Works, which has a 3 million litre storage tank that has not been functional for many years. Other locations visited were the Police Divisional Headquarters in Fegge, Urban Girls Secondary School in Fegge, Urban Boys Secondary School in Fegge, Umuasele Street in Sakamori, Bida Road in Odoakpu, Crash Programme Water Scheme in Odoakpu, and Greater Onitsha Water Supply Scheme in Nkisi.

*  All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Anambra Central led by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim on Monday 15th May, 2023 held a meeting with stakeholders at the International Convention Center Awka, the state capital. ANN reports that the Deputy Governor who is the coordinator of the leaders in his zone stated that the essence of the meeting was to be on same page and speak with one voice ahead of the congress because party comes first.

* The planning committee of the prestigious Anambra Man of the Year Award has announced intention to celebrate in a special way the 2023 overall best UTME candidate in the country, Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, as a way to inspire other students in the state to work harder. The group stated in a statement released to newsmen that Joy Mmesoma would be celebrated among very eminent people from the state in July this year at the annual Anambra Man of the Year Award event.

* All Soludo Support Groups (ASSG) Women Leaders led by Idemili South Local Government Chairman, Hon. Amaka Obi has felicitated with the Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief Protocol to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Hon.Chief Chinedu Nwoye as he marked his 48th birthday anniversary. Obi, in a congratulatory message, described Nwoye as a consummate politician who has a penchant for helping the downtrodden in society.

* Former House of Assembly Member Representing Anaocha 1 Constituency, Hon Azubuike Okoye hosted the entire Anglican bishops led by Bishop of Awka Diocese; Most Revd. Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim Ph.D. as part of the 13th Diocesan Synod celebration. Synod is the highest decision-making body of the Diocese during which representatives of the Churches in Awka Diocese assemble annually with the Bishop to discuss matters of national interest and those affecting the order and good government of the diocese and the society.

* An Anambra-based woman has narrated her ugly experience as a kidnap victim, after miraculously escaping from the hands of her abductors. The victim was said to have been kidnapped in Awka, after she boarded a commercial tricycle at UNIZIK Junction, to Eke Awka Market. Sharing her ordeal in a viral social media video, the victim said she was in the tricycle with a heavily-pregnant woman and two other men, comprising the driver and another person presumed to be a passenger.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo said that the impunity being perpetrated by most developers in Onitsha was unacceptable and observed that the developers hardly adhere to the minimum standard allowed by the state. He cited building on top of drainages as one of the behaviours that cause flooding and other attendant challenges and decried the sad situation where the city seems to be developing backwards. Soludo stressed that while reconstruction of roads and other infrastructures are ongoing in the city of Onitsha and elsewhere, people are expected to maintain a positive attitude towards the environment, stressing that his administration has an “agenda with a deadline.”

* Anambra state is first to activate the Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System in the country, an initiative of the federal government which aims at alleviating the sufferings of the citizenry during emergencies, where persons in need of emergency healthcare services in any part of Nigeria are to call a free toll number 112 for immediate response and help. Launching the scheme, the Health Minister Ehanire said that the initiative was launched to provide people, both rich and indigent with the opportunity to access global standard healthcare services at low or no cost and reduce cases of death rate being recorded in the country during emergencies as regards to health challenges and accidents.

* Over two hundred persons have benefited from Nneka Chidoka medical outreach programme held in Obosi, Idemili North LGA. The comprehensive healthcare mission which was part of activities to honour Late Deaconess Victoria Nneka Chidoka held at Thomas Chidoka Center for Human Development, Obosi, included eye care, blood sugar and malaria test, physical fitness as well as cancer awareness lecture, was aimed at building a healthy society.
