The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has commiserated with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr.Sly Ezeokenwa on the demise of his father, Chief Sylvester Ezeokenwa.
In his Condolence Message to the Ezeokenwa family of Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, Rt. Hon. Udeze described the Late Chief Ezeokenwa as a pragmatic politician, disciplinarian, philanthropist, mentor and devout Christian.
The Speaker who noted with satisfaction the Late Chief Sylvester Ezeokenwa’s contributions to the growth of APGA as a founding member of the party and a one-time APGA Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, called on APGA faithful to emulate his love, loyalty and commitment to the party.
Rt. Hon. Udeze maintained that the life and times of the Late Chief Sylvester Ezeokenwa were glorious and eventful and urged his family members to remain peaceful at all times, and to sustain their late father’s title “Ezeudo Umuchu”.
He prayed God to grant the soul of the Late Chief Sylvester Ezeokenwa eternal rest.
# The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP. Ikioye Orutugu has
led a team of senior officers to the crime scene at Egbebelu village, Nanka, Orumba North Local Government.
The CP visited the scene where two persons were gruesomely murdered by yet-to-be-identified armed men operating on a motorcycle.
Orutugu was accompanied with the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and experienced detectives from the Command.
The visit follows a reported incident involving the murder of two individuals, one of whom has been identified as a legal practitioner who had earlier secured the bail of an accused person in a pending murder case at High Court II, Ekwulobia.
# The Anambra State Special Unit of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has paid a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo, AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo.
The visit was aimed to formally welcome the AIG to the Zone and strengthen collaboration between the PCRC and the Nigeria Police Force.
The delegation, led by the Anambra PCRC Special Unit Coordinator, Mrs. Stella Ijeoma Ubah, was warmly received by AIG Oladipo at the Zonal Headquarters.
During the meeting, Mrs. Ubah highlighted the importance of fostering a strong partnership between the Police and the community to enhance mutual understanding, communication, and effective policing.
In his response, AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo commended the Anambra PCRC Special Unit for its exemplary dedication, describing the Unit as one of a kind, a model in community-police relations. He emphasised the critical role of PCRC in complementing police efforts, particularly through voluntary resource mobilisation and grassroots engagement.
# Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to direct the Acting Managing Director of Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) to revoke non-active Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) from the last two administrations.
The motion was moved at plenary by the Minority Leader and member representing Nnewi South two Constituency, Hon. Johnbosco Akaegbobi.
In his submission, Akaegbobi expressed concern over numerous inactive MoUs that have failed to deliver the anticipated economic benefits to the state.
According to Akaegbobi, while Anambra State Investment Promotion & Protection Agency Law, enacted in 2014, mandates ANSIPPA to protect, promote, monitor, coordinate, and assist current and potential investors, many of the agreements signed in previous administrations have remained dormant, tying up critical resources that could otherwise be redirected to projects better aligned with the current administration’s priorities.
# The Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area Hon. Rome Ibekwe has
empowered five thousand (5,000) youths with equipments.
Ibekwe empowered the youths with their skills start-up equipments ranging from hair and shoe making equipments, baking, tailoring, solar installation amongst others.
In his remark during the event, Ibekwe, explained that the empowerment was in an effort to reduce youth unemployment within the council area while also bringing about massive transformation in the council area.
The Mayor appreciated the present administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo for leading the way. Ibekwe applauded ndi Anaocha and the stakeholders for their continuous support.
# Anambra Joint Security Team has resisted an attack by armed criminals at the Security checkpoint in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area.
Two of the armed hoodlums were neutralized in the process.
According to SP. Tochukwu Ikenga,
Police Public Relations Officer Anambra State Command, one of the security operatives was fatally wounded, while one of the security operational vehicles was burnt by the bandits.
During the ensuing gun battle and due to the superior fire of the Joint security team, the criminals abandoned one of their operational vehicles, a Toyota Sienna and fled the scene.
The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu has condemned the act and viewed it as a test of ndi Anambra’s collective resolve to work with the security forces to dislodge and eliminate criminal elements in the State.

# The Chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA), Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu (Ike Cubana), has commended Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Development, Hon. Dr. Nelson Omenugha for putting smiles on the faces of children in celebration of his birthday anniversary.
Chief Iyiegbu made this commendation Omenugha visited an orphanage home in Ekwulobia, stating that such a gesture should be emulated.
While congratulating Dr. Omenugha, as he clocks 35, he prayed that Almighty God will continue to guide him, protect, and give him sound health to continue his selfless service to the people and Anambra in general.
