* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has received commendation for its steadfast commitment to respecting and protecting human rights, particularly in its proactive stance against gender-based violence.
The commendation came from the Anambra State Coordinator of the commission while on an advocacy visit to Commandant Maku Olatunde, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command at the State Headquarters Awka.
Maduforo who led a delegation of key officials of the Commission appreciated the Corps for enhancing human rights – based law enforcement practices. He noted that the visit was part of the commission’s ongoing efforts at strengthening community policing structures, reform legal frameworks affecting vulnerable populations, particularly in the context of HIV, Tuberculosis and Gender Based violence (GBV).
He affirmed the Commission’s dedication to the fight against GBV, and safeguarding vulnerable populations, emphasising the importance of partnership in achieving meaningful and lasting impact.
In response, Commandant Maku Olatunde appreciated the NHRC Anambra State Coordinator for the visit. He assured the team of the command’s readiness to support joint initiatives aimed at promoting gender inclusion, protecting human rights and empowering marginalised groups.
The NSCDC State helmsman said the Corps will maintain it’s partnership with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), fostering a conducive environment for people to enjoy their rights without discrimination.
* The Speaker of Anambra House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described the State workforce as solid partners in progress and urged them to continue to sustain and deepen the existing friendly working environment and industrial harmony between them and Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
In his Goodwill Message to the State workforce, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted with satisfaction the impressive performance of the Anambra State workers in various civil service competitions where they have continued to outshine their counterparts in the country, adding that they have done the State proud in both National and International competitions by clinching first positions as well as overall best teachers.
The Speaker who commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his pragmatic efforts towards improving the status and welfare of the State workforce through massive employments, training and retraining of workers and provision of various support to the organized labour in the State, enjoined workers to reciprocate the Governor’s gesture by shunning acts capable of smearing their image and reputation.
Rt. Hon. Udeze enjoined them to use the occasion of this year’s Workers’ Day to reflect on how to be better and more productive by renewing their efforts through dedication, resilience and innovation.
The Speaker while commending the State Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe and other Stakeholders in public and civil service sector in the State for transforming the system, urged workers to continue to support the present Soludo administration, which he said, has touched them positively and restored their dignity.
* Civil servants in Anambra State have been urged to explore side hustles, to supplement their income and mitigate the impact of economic hardship on their households.
This call was made in Awka during a health and economic awareness workshop organised by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) as part of the activities to commemorate 2025 workers’ Day celebration in the state.
In his opening remarks, Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to the state governor, Hon. Chinedu Nwoye, encouraged workers to diversify their income streams beyond their monthly salaries.
* The Managing Director, Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, has said that the State Government remained committed towards deepening digital transformation agenda.
Hon. Iyiegbu gave this charge in his home at Oba in Idemili South local government area, Anambra State, during the strategic meeting with Idemili North and South Mayors, ward Chairmen, local government chairmen and local government women and youth leaders.
He called on them to move into their various wards to canvas for votes which will translate to victory on November 8, 2025, stating that they should work selflessly and tirelessly to ensure and achieve victory for the party.
* The Mayor of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba participated in the All Progressives Grant Alliance (APGA) Special Retreat and Inauguration of the Solution Kindred Initiative (SKI) for Anambra Central’s Local Government and Ward Tactical Teams.
The event, which took place at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka, was a strategic gathering aimed at galvanizing grassroots structures for the successful re-election of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
