* Police Operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu-Ukwu has foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered the victim’s vehicle at Isuaniocha.
The kidnapping gang of five operating in a black coloured Toyota Corolla doublecrossed the victim at Amatu village, Agulu and abducted him with his black Lexus 350 SUV before the Police were alerted.
According to a press statement signed by
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the operatives in technology-driven manhunt on the criminals made them to abandon the victim and the vehicle on the road at Isuaniocha and fled.
The victim has been debriefed and in safe custody.
To this end, the Operatives are currently working on the necessary information available to dislodge the kidnapping gang and have stepped up security surveillance in the area for possible arrest of the suspect and to nip in the bud any untoward situation.
* The Local Government Chairman of
Nnewi North Hon. Echezona Anazodo says his administration has empowred over 200 youths with human capital development.
The Mayor while speaking in a press conference in his office on Saturday, revealed that he purchased JAMB forms for students in collaboration with Nnewi Forum.

Soludo’s administration has empowered about 500 natives of Nnewi with different skills across all sectors, including agriculture and markets, and currently dualising the Agulu-Nnobi Nnewi-Ozubulu-Ihiala road aside other developmental projects ongoing within Nnewi and its environs.
Anazodo maintained that his administration was not engaging in any kind of taxations, asking those spreading the lies to present evidence to backup their claims.
* The Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has flagged-off operation light up all the seven communities in Idemili South council area.
Speaking during the event held at the council secretariat, Hon. Obi assured good people of idemili south of more Infrastructural projects, stating that, she is learning from Solution Governor.
While highlighting the achievements of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in less than four years in office.
Hon. Obi maintained that re-election of Governor Soludo is sacrosanct.
* Police Operatives attached to the Obosi Divisional Headquarters on Saturday recovered a stolen shuttle bus with Reg No: AGU 651 ZL belonging to the Transport Company of Anambra State popularly known as (TRACAS) at Nkwelle, Oyi Local Government Area.
The Operatives swung into action following a distress call to the Anambra State Police Command Control Room by the driver on how the five-man armed criminal gang disguised themselves as passengers and dispossessed him of a cash sum of Twenty thousand Naira (#20,000) only and the shuttle bus.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, in a press release, the Operatives acted swiftly and alerted the necessary security checkpoints to deny the criminals access to escape which forced the hoodlums to abandon the vehicle at Slaughter Junction, in Nkwelle and fled through a nearby bush.
Security patrols have been intensified in the area to enhance safety and nip to the bud any untoward situation and for possible arrest of the fleeing suspects.
* The Federal Ministry of Education has been notified of the selection of Prof. Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
The Ministry expresses its satisfaction that the selection process was conducted in line with due process, as provided under Section 5(13) of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 2003—through nomination by the University Senate and subsequent approval by the Governing Council.
In her capacity as Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Arinze-Umobi is expected to oversee the day-to-day administration of the university, coordinate academic and administrative activities, and ensure the effective functioning of the institution.
Her appointment, in line with Section 5(14) of the Act, shall not exceed six months or until a substantive Vice-Chancellor is appointed, whichever comes first.
The Ministry acknowledges this appointment as a reflection of adherence to statutory governance procedures and expresses confidence in Professor Arinze-Umobi’s ability to provide stable and result-oriented leadership during this transitional period.
* The Executive Chairman of Nnewi-North Local Government Area of Anambra State Hon. Echezona Anazodo has stated without equivocations that he has absolutely no reasons to work against Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s second term reelection contrary to claims by opposition elements that his decisions and actions militate against the governor’s second term ambition.
Anazodo who debunked the allegations while addressing newsmen regarding his six months in office, maintained that such were mere propaganda by opposition elements bent on making Nnewi-North ungovernable. He said since he joined politics 16 years ago, he has been an active member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and has never decamped from the party to another in search of greener pastures.
Anazodo maintained that it would be foolhardy of him to fight or work against the reelection of a governor who gave him platform to showcase his potentials and leadership acumen. That he is not only grateful to the governor for such an uncommon generosity and benevolence but the entire Nnewi-North Local Government Area is profoundly grateful to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for the massive transformations in the council area especially as it concerns road infrastructure.
* The management of the Anambra state Polytechnic, Mgbakwu, has proposed establishing an affiliation with the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state, to enable them run Higher National Diploma ( HND) programmes.
Rector of Anambra state Polytechnic, Mgbakwu, Dr. Njideka Rita Chiekezie, who led other principal officers and staff on a courtesy visit to the office of the rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, said that the reason for the collaboration is due to Federal Polytechnic Oko’s expertise on HND programmes.
She explained further that Anambra state Polytechnic, Mgbakwu, presently runs National Diploma programmees in four schools, which according to her, include School of Engineering Technology, School of Management Sciences, School of Science and Technology and School of Agriculture, adding that the affiliation would enable smooth transitions for ND graduates into HND programmes and foster enhanced academic collaboration and increased students mobility.
* The Ministry of Health Anambra State in collaboration with the Anambra State Aids Control Agency (ANSACA) has held a three-Day Stakeholders’ Sensitization Meeting for the development of Anambra State HIV/AIDS Strategic Plan 2025 to 2027.
The meeting created avenue for the concerned parties to plan for all the activities that would address all the HIV thematic areas in terms of treatment, prevention, care, support and equally to address gender and human right issues in the state so as to ensure that Anambra State achieved its HIV epidemic control schedule which is aimed at ending the scourge by the year 2030.
Addressing the meeting, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said that for the expected result in the control of HIV/AIDS to be well achieved, the stakeholders as well as health workers so concerned need to be trained and retrained on the concept of the disease especially in the handling of the affected persons vis-à-vis the administration of the ailment.
* Nawfia Community, in Njikoka LGA has celebrate the 50th birthday anniversary of the Chief Protocol to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Sir Chinedu Nwoye (Glamour).
The event also featured commissioning of a multipurpose hall, built and donated to Uruoji village, Nawfia by Glamour and his wife, Ifeoma.
The double events kicked off with a Thanksgiving service at St Paul Anglican church Nawfia, where cream de la cream from walks of live gathered to celebrate with the man of the moment on his golden jubilee.
